I am kinda getting tired waiting for the Novak HV System and all my maxx needs is the brushless system.

I am Looking at 40 mph+, in a full aluminium truck, when running 12-14 matched Gp3300's.

However top of the agenda is reliability. I dont want to be sending this ESC back across countries cause smoke has poured out. So from what I see I have 2 options:

Hacker Master Car Sport ESC and C50 Maxx motor $419

Wait for the Novak HV for $300

I have the other 2 Novaks and they are awesome, So I guess the HV will be more of the same. I also liek the fact I can plug in 2 batteries say 2 7 cells, rather than wire up one 12 cell pack.

Its also cheaper!

However I have no idea if it will get my maxx to 40mph, and no idea how long its gonna take to arrive!

then there is the Hacker System, Proved to do what I want, but is it reliable?

My mai nconcern with this motor/ESC is reliability . I dont care if it does 100 mph but only lasts 2 runs. I only want to do this once! I dont want to spend a months wages only to be disapointed

I have searched but not found anything regarding the hackers reliability.

any ideas?

thanks in advance

The current hackers are a problem. The escs have had so many problems, they are discontinued and we are awaiting a new version. The old ones would smoke if you look at them funny or they decided it was time. Mine still works though :)

Check out Optima's results with a Basic 4200. It's only $150 and you should be fine with a $200sumthin controller, like a Schulze 18.61 or a Kontronik Jazz 60-80.

This setup could cost as little as $360.

You can also use 2 separate packs with these escs... just make a Y adapter. 12 cells will get you 40mph with several common motors.

Will a Basic 4200 get me to 40 tho? The only plastic on my truck is bumper mounts!

any links to optimas results I am very interested in this!

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ryan.coombes/emaxx.htm I've saw he has 2 4200's 2 ESCS on 8 cells each and from the videos, that doesnt look like 40mph!

Thanks in advance for your help

there is a brushless forum on www.maxxtraxxusa.com
hacker has discontinued their esc. to much smoke.
schulze has another new esc but when i found someone that had it. the price was $395 just for the esc no motor.
i agree with you is that i want dependability. i dont mind going 5mph slower if it keeps running.
the RCX show is in a couple of weeks. if anything new gets released at the show i will let everyone know.

chaeck out the kontronik setups on: www.kontronik.com
(the german pages maybe yet converted) have a JAZZ esc from 6-18 cells WITH BEC !! and up to 80 A !! (That will be enough for almsot every application, if NOT, go with the bigger JAZZ series, the FAI series, they will go to 130 A !! (but without BEC !!)

if there are not any Jazz losted in the american part, go to the german one, click on "Produkte" then choose the escīs or Motors (there are pics too, the tech datas are universal !! (and the rest is done by a translator, or aks me for smaller details !!)

Go with the Schulze 18.97KWF ESC with a UBEC from Kool Flight Systems and the Hacker C50 motor. I have tried the Hacker Master Comp ESC and the Schulze 18.97KWF with my 1/8th Buggy and perfer the Schulze ESC hands down over the Hacker. I had to hook up a UBEC with the Hacker MC because it's built in BEC has an 8 cell limit and the Li-Pos I am running is equal to a little more than 12 cells in voltage.

The Schulze is alot more smoother and radio adjustable with both the brakes and throttle control. Both have reverse with the Hacker it easier to go into reverse when you only need brakes, where the Schulze has a 2 second delay before it goes into reverse, so you can actually pump the braking trigger on it if you don't need full brakes. The Hacker is alot like an on/off switch with both of the brakes and throttle. It is either all the way on or all the way off.

UBEC: www.koolflightsystems.com

The choice is all yours!

The JAZZ 55-6-18 is around 170 Euro here, the 40-6-18 around 150 Euro, the bigger 80A version is around 220 Euro here, so the USD schould be around the changing course + 10% (no quarantee, but try to find some airplane dealers, they often carry those escīs !!,maybe theyīve even better prices, these prices are the lowest ones we have in germany)
(Normally a 40-6-18 is around 200, a 55-6-18 around 230 Euro, so you see the difference !)

Type the Name intom various searching machines and you should find what you need !!
