Nice job on the boat. So when do we get pics on the water? And what's up with the Blackhawk stickers? Would look 100% better with Vancouver Canucks Logos :D Can you tell I'm from the Northwest? :D

Yes, I am a Red Wings fan. It's a problem where I live at, halfway between Detroit and Chicago. We have a farm club team here in town, the Kalamazoo Wings that used to be affiliated with the Red Wings but now with the Dallas Stars. A lot of our players went to San Jose' when the Sharks franchise started. See how confusing it is?
One more thing. You wanted to know about the Fun Run here in Kalamazoo. We have a date set finally, it's Sunday, June 13th. If you guys are planning on coming up, you know how to get ahold of me and I'll give you directions. Anyone else interested, let me know. Any R/C boat is welcome to show up, we're just running for fun. So far we have people from 4 States coming.

According to the website, run the needle all the way in. At sealevel turn it out 4 to 4 1/2 turns. At higher altitudes turn out 3 1/2 to 4 turns. This is for the water cooled motor. For the aircooled motor it's 6 1/2 and 6 turns. Also, make sure your starter is turning the right way, as inboard and outboard motors turn OPOSITE DIRECTIONS. The starter should be turning CLOCKWISE FOR OUTBOARDS. Hope this helps

when breaking in my K&B, the factory setting left me fishing for my boat several times. i broke it in about 1/4 turn leaner than what they said. since then i've only leaned it out another 1/8-1/4 turn and it runs real good. and like hydro junkie said...remember to switch your starter. i felt real stooooopid when i started my boat 3 times in a row and it died when it hit the water. it WILL run in reverse! just not very long. have fun...that's a purdy boat.

i just noticed that you have a black carburetor! this one is the smallest of the 3.5cc carbs, with red being the largest and gold in the middle. i'm not certain, but this may also affect the break-in setting for your needle. my engine that had a black carb is now exhaust throttled and i can't remember the settings anymore. i think the K&B web site shows the info for the gold carbs. anyway, just a thought.

talking about runing backwards, my O.S. 21 started bakwards a couple of times with a pull start, no realy it was wierd, I had to pull real slow then speed up to get it to start the right way!

o and i started it on land yesterday (not long just like 30 sec or so) and i couldent get it to idle it would idle for like 5 or six sec then it would die unless i gave it some more gas....
i tried moveing the needle richer by 1/8 turn at a time but no difference, im not worried i can still run without an idle but i would like to find out whats wrong... could it be another needle?

with my K&B's they didn't idle well during the break in process. they have to be run pretty rich at first and they load up easy. as you run the engine more and start leaning it out, the idle will get better. when you start it before running, just give it quick jabs on the throttle. as you throw it in, start getting on it. my new K&B has about 35-45 min of run time on it and i'm still running it fairly rich, but it idles well and will run in the water at idle for quite some time. this weekend i'm going to go for that final "power" setting on the needle and see what it'll do.

well im dumb, my stering servo was reversed (on the radio) and i dident know. i started it and put it in the water turned left and it went right, right into the dock......
lucky for me the bottom of the dock was foam lol
but it broke loose some glue joints on the seams that i dident know about, so there were little pin holes (and i dident know) so i started it up again re-reversed the servo put it in and im not sure why it staled but it did and so i took it in with my retreval boat and i pick it up and a whole bunch of waters comes out of the tip of the sponsons.....
lol i was so determind to run it that i duct taped the front of the sponsons and tried to run it again but water still got in..........
my nitro vee dident run so good either. this was just a bad day for nitro :( : mad:
i got all the water out of my sponsons and now im filling in the gaps (that i can see now) with black ca glue
well maby if the lake is calm ill try agian today :)

lake michigan looks like glass today, maby i will have more luck there.....
right now im taking a break from patching all the glue cracks, i keep finding more and more! grrrr....
