I have run a little over 1 gallon of fuel through the truck and the motor was broken in propperly. It started just fine and was almost warmed up when the motor died.

When we tried to re-start it, the motor turned over a few times and then seized (not starting).
When I took the motor apart I found the crank journal had split in half right where the starter pin and spring go in and the con rod was allso toasted.

There was no damage or scoring to the piston, sleeve or the front of the crank shaft (no signs of running it to leen). I have had allot of experience with model aircraft and I don't think I did any thing wrong. Any thoughts?

Hopefully they will. We had a bad piston and sleeve match in one of our TRX 2.5's that we got. We sent it to traxxas and they put a new piston and sleeve in for us for free. Hopefully HPI is just as cool.

Doesn't sound like you did anything wrong. There's bound to be a bad engine in every batch regardless of who manufactured it. I'll be sending my S25 back to HPI soon myself. The spring that pushes the pin against the starter plate on mine went bye bye. I was using the pull-start and it started to slip every few pulls. I use very short, firm pulls, but smacked myself in the forehead when it let loose. DOH!

Just give HPI customer support a call. It's not toll-free, but if you get the recording (which you likely will), just leave your name and number and they'll call you back. Cheaper that way heh
