I'm using the stock shock bodies on mine....but here is how mine are setup.

35wt oil all around
Integy Extra Soft (Blue) springs
HPI Large, and Integy Small spacers on fronts
HPI Large, and Integy Large spacers on backs

It's a stiffer setup (w/ the spacers)...but I like it that way. Still enough bounce to take the jumps, but stiff enough to give me really great cornering ability. I went with the 2 Large spacers in the back, to make up for the extra weight in the back....it really balances the shocks out.

i heared that the integy shafts bend easily. i've seen people putting the stock HPI shafts in. on my shocks (plastic) i run purple springs all around, 40 wt oil in the front and 50 wt in the back. i like it stiff :D i run one preload spacer on the 4 rear shocks only.

I love reading all these post about the Integy Savage shocks "Oh, I put the standard shafts and bodies on them, They work great", So essentially your runing standard shocks with pretty shock caps, Thats gotta be so worth the price tag eh?, Not in my eyes, I'll keep my standards.

fezzy, it's just the shock shafts that people are using with aftermarket shocks for the Savage, not the shock bodies too. Your standards may be high, but your observance isn't.

Re: Integy shocks. Integy came to know that the shafts on their shocks were weaker and that many were using stock Savage shafts in them. The newer version of their shocks have thicker shafts with no reported problems.

lol @ kitty. in all honesty though, for bashing you cant beat the stock shocks. they have a little give, and are very tough. anyone that complains about blowing off the shock caps doesn't know how to bleed their shocks. the stockers rock.

Yeah, no kidding on the shock caps. I've heard of a lot who have blown the caps off Maxx or Pede shocks, but not the Savage unless it was a huge jump and they didn't fill the shocks right to begin with. I run aluminum caps on my E-Pede shocks. No leaks, no blown caps and I actually prefer the bladder design.

i run losi purple 100 wt all atound w/ stock springs and no spacers, it jumps like a champ + there arent any rollovers because i dont have any spacers on the shocks to make the springs hard and the truck sit up high. it sits w/ the arms just above level and i can drop it from my 2nd story porch onto the driveway and it dosnt botom out

that one guy - spacers on shocks don't make the springs harder; they're used to adjust the ride height. 100wt oil sounds way too heavy. The purpose of the oil in the shocks is to provide dampening, while the purpose of the springs is to provide stiffness. Your truck may not bottom out dropping it from the second story porch, but you're basically sending out engraved invitations for bent shock shafts.

lerning - are the piggies on the Integy shocks functional or just there for looks? I'm doing some graphics work for a guy who sells Integy stuff on eBay and he owes me, so I've been pondering adding a set of the newer Integy shocks to my list. If the piggies aren't functional, can they be removed without causing problems with the rest of the shocks? Thanks!

100wt. is too thick , you might as well not have shocks at all .
The whole purpose of a shock is to dampen the suspension and keep the tire in contact with the ground . The lightest oil you can use without the tires bouncing is going to be your best bet . Control ride height and stiffness with the springs
