Here is my nitro hammer. Used to be white and had damage from the spray foam. New yellow paint, hood scoop, and decals. Needs to be given it's clearcoat and re-install all gear. I'll post more when I'm done. Paint is far from perfect but over all I'm pleased.

seems easier to post pics now. Here is the hood scoop made from an air plane canopy.

 Hahaaa! Nice going. I love what you've done. Nothing better than changing the look of the original to show off your own style. Thanks for the Pics! I'll have to get some of mine up some time.

That looks awesome. I was thinking about doing something like that but i ran it without the top cover and really didnt notice any difference in performance so i decided againt it.

Thanks for the comments guys.
I've always noticed that when I had the hatch off and was starting the engine it rev'd pretty high, and when I would replace the hatch after about 1-2 seconds it would start reving lower. Figured it sucked alot of the oxygen out. Many times while walking toward the water the boat would stall. This (air scoop) should take care this and hopefully add some speed.

I believe all engines (not electric motors) need air. So if you supply it with fresh, cool air it helps the engine run (breathe) better. These engines run off the air/fuel mixture. I'm no expert but I'm sure other guys in here can explain it better.

Dag's right, you need to get FRESH AIR to the carb. If the cowl fits too tightly, you will have a hell of a time getting the needle set, as every time you start the boat, it will run fine UNTIL THE COWL IS PUT ON. At that point, the air supply will be cut off, making the carb richer and RIcher and RICHer and RICHER, till the boat dies. When your boat arrives, check out the fit of the cowling. If it fits snuggly, or has no air inlet holes, you will need to cut some. Some boats are designed to give air a way in. Looking at a picture of the Aqua Jet, I would recommend fabricating one or two AIR SCOOPS on the rear of the cover. This should solve the problem. Just leave a way to get excess air out. The Aqua Jet was designed as an ELECTRIC BOAT, with no allowance made for the nitro motors air requirements. Hope this helps :)
