All I can say right now is to check the plug. You may also want to check to make sure your glow driver is still good and has a charged battery

I agree with 2.5 guy for sure. I do have to ask, though, why are you running 10% nitro?

im running 10% coz the lhs guy told me it was a good break in fuel coz it has 18% oils so its nice and rich.

"Break-in fuel" is unnecessary. You should break in the engine with the same fuel you plan on running it with. With the 18% oil, I assume you got Traxxas Top Fuel. I run that stuff and I can't say its bad. I would say that 10% is for small blocks (.12-.18) and 20% is for .21s and bigger. The bigger engines and the bigger cars they are installed can better handle and benefit the 20% Nitro, which makes more power. I would suggest it, and if you happen to switch, at least run out the gallon you have first; don't waste it.

As far as starting, I have a pull-start and I know that priming is the most important thing, but I assume you have roto-start and I don't know what the best way to use it is. Someone else will have to fill in there.

I recommend using 20% in all engines, small or big block. As far as the roto-start, when first starting, crank it over with the roto-start with your finger over the stinger to prime it. Then it should fire right up as long as the glow plug is good, idle gap is correct, and you have no air leaks.

Also make sure that your fuel filter isn't clogged(If you have one, that is) That can cause many problems. Have you checked the carb to make sure it wasn't clooged up anywhere?

Yet again, I agree with Dan.

Dejan, as you said "Savage 25" I will presume you mean the RTR version with the Roto Start. Though I do not own one, I have read enough from experienced users to know this: only hold the button for a few seconds at a time. If you hold it down any longer, you risk breaking a number of things, including the gearing inside the RS, killing the one-way bearing or doing internal damage to the engine if it's flooded. A lot of starting using the RS can be done by listening to the engine. The RS has a lot of torque, but if you use it in short bursts, it'll do well for you.

I'm seriously considering converting to some of the RS parts myself, but just the shaft and starter plate, so I can use a drill that has a clutch on it. In reverse, of course.

LHS guys don't always know what they're doing. If you're lucky to find one who is experienced and enjoys the hobby, it's great. Too often hobby shops are staffed by people who know little about RC stuff, much less are interested enough to be very helpful.

I hear ya on that one kitty. Most people at hobby shop don't know there head from there ***. If they do they are still biased towards what ever it is that there shop sells.

The guy at our local pawn shop is helpful, and so is the guy at our LHS.

Tell me about it, MaxxGT! The LHS closest to me is supposed to start carrying more HPI stuff, including everything for the Savage due to demand. That includes selling RTRs and SS kits. I'm sure the guys who work there, who are T-Maxx worshippers and know little beyond them, are really getting their boxers in a bunch over that. Good move for the owner, I say.

The other LHS, a Hobby Town, stocks a number of HPI parts. They had every spur gear except for the 48t one for the Savage and didn't have the pads either, yet they had a RTR and SS on the shelf. I need a new pad for mine. When I asked a guy if they even stock either, he looked at me like I just farted on his favourite shirt or something. They're pretty much pucker-butts there anyway and don't like to have to look something up.

There are two Hobbytown stores in our area. It seems to me that their prices are a bit high for my liking. Also they seem to have new kits before anyone else gets them. I don't usually shop there because they don't carry much in the way of monster truck parts and bodies. They seem more into on road racing.

hey kitty, about the roto start back plate, shaft, and a drill. a drill dosnt have half the speed of the roto start. i could never get my motor to start w/ my 18v dewalt because it couldnt turn the motor over fast enough
