Does anyone know how to build a boat trailer for the miss budweiser, or any type of boat trailer that the boat would fit on that I would be able to pull with my HPI Savage? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

I would drop a line to hydro Junkie,He knows about as much as you can know about the Hydros. Not to mention he has had the advantage to see these boats in person,I am sure He has seen the trailer set up.

Actually, I have seen many of the boats, both on the trailers and on the water. One thing I would need to know is do you want just a trailer, or would you want a SCALE TRAILER. Also, is this for a Pro Boat Bud, and if so, what size. One thing you have to know is that the Pro Boat Buds ARE NOT true to scale. If they were, the 1/12 nitro Bud woud be two inches longer. Over the years, hydro trailers have changed considerably. The early trailers are based on a large tube with axles welded on and the boat rails added on top as a subassembly. The modern trailers are a flat chasis loaded with storage compartments, with the boat rails added to the top as a subassembly. Both types have hydraulic systems to raise and lower the boat rails to and from a tilted position to get the road width down to under eight feet. As the older round nosed boats were about 11 feet wide and the modern boats are 14 to 14.5 feet wide, you can see how high the boats get tilted. I'll see if I can find any pics of the trailer and send them to you, RCRunner I will need more info before I can really get into your project :)

I like the BIG RIG HAULER  As for Neil Henson's trailer, it needs to be longer in the back and the boat tipped up higher. As I haven't figured out how to post pictures yet, I'll tell you where to look. Go to missmadison.com and go into their gallery. There are many pictures that show the trailer, with a few that show empty trailers for other boats :) The pictures should give you the basics to get started. What I can tell you is the Miss Madison/Oh Boy Oberto is 30.75 feet long and 14.25 feet wide, with a 7 foot 8inch tunnel. On the trailer, the boat rails are pivoted at the edge of the trailer upper deck. Hope this gets you guys started :D

I should have asked, Toyman, what scale is that rig the Bud is sitting on? Is it 1/12 or is it smaller? Looking at the boat compared to the trailer, the trailer looks about 30 feet long. Don't get me wrong, it looks cool, but if you build a trailer to fit the boat, it might not fit the tractor :( Do you have a R/C truck or something along those lines to tow it with, or will this be just for display? I have been thinking about building scale trailers for my 3 eighth and one or two sixth scale boats for display only. I don't think I could find a truck like the race teams use in sixth or eighth scale. Besides, with four foot long trailers and four foot long trucks, I wouldn't have room for anything else :D

I've seen ONE for an eighth scale boat at an R/C Expo ONCE. This guy built the boat, trailer AND truck. Don't know who did it, but WOW!!!!! Did you get the pics I sent?

Try the guys over at gardentrucking.com - they specialize in big rc trucks & should be able to help you get the info & such that you need.

Leave it to a Beetle lover to know about big rig sites :D I checked out the website, talk about a lot of trucks and parts! Didn't see what I was looking for, however, so I left a message to see if I missed something. Now I'll just have to wait :( Thanks for the info either way :)

the truck i have is the 1/14 King Hauler, it's the closest one out there to the 1/12 Miss Bud. the Wedico trucks are all 1/16 and they don't have boat trailers yet so it's time to start from the drawing board & start fabbing one up with what i have. send me the pics you have of the 1/8 Miss Bud Hydro junkie so i can have a look too, that's got to be one big truck! i'll check out the Miss Madison site. thanks.

Yeah, I knew the scale might be a bit off. It looks like a lot of the trailers are scratch built, not just the Wedico factory stuff. I figured if you wanted to make a trailer, these guys might be able to steer you in the right direction.

Sorry guys, didn't have my camera at the model expo, haven't seen that rig since :( I'll either have to find out where they are build or run down to one of the boat shops and see if I can get measurements. Do any of you live close enough to Evansville or Madison Indiana to make the trip worth while? The Miss Madison/Oh Boy Oberto is from Madison, the Vacationville.Com/Coopers Express is from Evansville :)

Nice looking trailers, for a deep vee. I can just guess what he wants to build one. Unfortunately, its not even close to what a hydro would need. I'll have to do some inquiring to see what I can come up with ;)

No I know it's nothing close to what a hydro uses. I was just posting another source of info. You never know...

Okay, for those of you who are crazy enough to want a trailer for a Pro Boat Budweiser, here's the good and bad news. The GOOD news is all the trailers for the various boats are custom made. This means that if the trailer isn't quite perfect, it won't matter. Now for the BAD news. I was down at the Bud shop earlier today. Apparently Dave is out of town till Monday, so I was told NO MEASURING TILL DAVE GETS BACK!!! :( I did get to look at the two boats and trailers that were there, however. From what I could tell, one truck, trailer and boat(either T5 or T6) was gone. T3(I think) is being repaired from damage during the record breaking 1K run, making it easy to look at the top of one of the trailers, as the boat's off of it's trailer. Will try again next week to get dimensions. I will remind you, however, that the Pro Boat Buds ARE NOT ACCURATE MODELS. This was pointed out to me by one of the crew that was in the shop, reaffirming what I already knew. Whoever builds one of these things had better be willing to modify it to fit the boat, as both sizes are not to scale  The nitro boat is 2" short, the gas boat is at least 1"short, for the record :(
