Ok, thought I'd follow up with the latest info on my nitro hammer. As some of you know, my first one never ran right from day one during break-in. I sent it back for warranty and they decided to replace the entire boat. My new one arrived this week and I fueled it up to start the break-in and DRIP...DRIP...DRIP...the engine is leaking fuel from the underside somewhere. Every 3 seconds exactly a solid droplet of fuel drips out making a huge puddle in the hull of the boat. I called them again and this time they are sending me a new engine! Someday I hope to actually be able to run a nitro hammer, until then I will be reading these posts and working on replacing my brand new engine with another brand new one...when it arrives.

did u try and figure out the reason its leaking? Maybe its something simple like a loose backplate. maybe the fuel line has a small hole in it. TRy and figure out whats leaking. It sounds like it could be something very easy to fix.

I took the fuel tank out and no leaks in the lines... its dripping out of the bearings at the bottom of the engine near the drive shaft/flywheel.
While I've been waiting, I put some custom decals on it and some that came with it. Here is a picture. I cant figure out how to upload more than one image in a post.

that's pretty sharp lookin'. hopefully you can get a new motor that actually works. get some foam for it...i sank one last summer. they don't stay up real long when they're inverted, they like to flip when you're not lookin'.

BoatDoc - What kind of foam do you use? Where and how much?

The dripping oil is not unusual. The motor has to lubricate the front bearing so it will come out. Every boat that I own does this, some less than others.

i sealed the front bulkhead with rtv resin and then i used pipe insulation for floatation. you can also use swimming noodles. or if you're careful you can use spray foam, the kind of stuff for sealing windows. but you have to be very careful or you'll make a giant mess.
