sorry dudes, but i really dont know what i should get. im a n00b thats really getting into competition and id like a good charger. which one?!
ce is a great charger. i have the first version pitbull and never had a problem. the pulsar has the advantage that it can break in motors or run a lathe. it can not charge at the same time.

I have the new X3. For the price, I was expecting a bitmore out of it. The ring tones are annoying, I shut all mine off except for the charge done one and even then it's bad because if my pack finishes while I'm racing, it keeps making noise until someone unclips my battery.
It does the job, but I'm thinking I should have bought the Pulsar Competition because it's more feature rich. My $0.02.

I have the LRP Pulsar Comp charger. I am very happy with it. The motor run feature is great for breaking your motor and running a lathe. Very simple to use also. One of the best R/C purchases I have made!

I change my mind. I will never buy or consider an LRP product anymore. A couple of fellow racers had their Pulsar Competitions stop working. Normal usage, then one just stopped working, the other had his LCD screen go crazy.
Both were within warranty period (it's lifetime right?) and I'm sure both weren't more than a couple of months old. Sent them in for the limited lifetime warranty coverage. LRP tells them they both have to pay for the repair AND return shipping
I can understand if the chargers stopped working after 6 months or maybe even a year, but 2 months and only used 1 day a week? I'm happy I choose the Pitbull over the Pulsar, at least I know CE stands behind their products.
What was the reason that LRP gave that they had to pay for the repair.

I'll know more when I see them at the track, I'll post back then.

Well, for the one that stopped working: AE didn't say that he was responsible for the damage and they had a couple of other units in for the exact same problem, but not enough to warrant a recall. He was informed his "case" was handled the way the distributor told them to handle it. So he had to pay $47US for repairs and return shipping. Another racer (who is a lawyer) is going to see what he can do since AE didn't say the racer messed it up so it should be fully covered under warranty.
No news from the racer that had a wonky screen.
Yesterday was the first race day and another one stopped working. Apparently, when the racer went to push the charge button, it gave him a shock. The Pulsar shut off and never came back on. Fuses were all fine. I'll bet his won't be covered under warranty either.

There's a Pulsar 2 now for those that don't know. It was shown at the Shizuoka Hobby Show in Japan. Not saying it will be better. My Pulsar fried on me. So now I use Yokomo Chargers.

Actually LRP has "limited lifetime warranty". I have the Competition and believe its the best charger for the money. Don't know of anyone thats had problems with it and a lot of guys have them at the track where I race. Whichever you choose you can't go wrong.
LRP Limited Lifetime Warranty
Team Associated, the exclusive North American distributor for LRP Electronics products, would like to clarify the LRP "Limited Lifetime Warranty Policy" for all LRP products, including their digital speed controls.
LRP introduced this policy as LRP's "Lifetime Warranty" program. After careful review, it became apparent that the policy should have been called a "Limited Lifetime Warranty" program, as there are certain conditions which must be met in order to fully realize the benefits of this new policy.
The LRP "Limited Lifetime Warranty" fully protects any owner of a new, registered LRP speed control for 90 days from the date of purchase. After 90 days, some small service charges may be incurred by the consumer. However, these charges are usually minimal, and are much less expensive than purchasing a new replacement speed control.
The LRP "Limited Lifetime Warranty" program is best described as a "lifetime" extension of their existing conditional warranty program, which has helped LRP become one of the most popular—and winning—lines of racing electronics in the world.

So it's similar to Novak's trade in deal. Fair enough. But these dead LRP chargers ARE within the 90 day warranty period, and since the charger wasn't damaged by user error, I think they should be replaced for free.
Lol, I guess my friend isn't getting a new Quantum Competition ESC for free either. He fried his in stock oval and was relieved because he thought he had a "Lifetime warranty". He'll be ticked.

Yea its pretty decieving thats for sure. On the outside of the box it says Lifetime Warranty but inside it tells you about the Limited lifetime warranty. Although it does seems to be in line with the other manufactures. I just sent in a one week old F1 Pro that just stopped working and I'm curious to see how it gets fixed.

I asked a round at the track this weekend. A lot of people there use the LRP Pulsar Comp. Only one guy had a problem with his and he said they fixed it with out hassle and that he would happly buy another LRP.
