install an esc (http://www.rccaraction.com/rc/articles/ht_install_esc.asp) nah...its not hard at all. just take out the msc in your car and put the esc. thats it. at least thats what i did when i change my msc to esc.

Well, up until last week, I had nothing but good things to say about the Duratrax 8t Intellispeed Racing ESC. That is when the ESC died on me for no reason, in the middle of the main. No big jumps, no water, wasn't hot. I have no clue why it died, it just died. I was even running a stock motor on it, no where near the motor limit.
If you want a reversible ESC, I would suggest a Novak Rooster or Super Rooster.
Good Luck,
Matt

I have the Futab MC230 and I love it. It's less than $50 and has a 20 turn limit. It's very smooth and easy to set up, and tiny so it installs easy too. You could also go with the MC330 for about $20 more, and get a 13 turn limit. Both have reverse.

I have used all 3 of the above ESC and really can't say anything bad about them. The Rooster has always felt to be the most bulletproof of the bunch... but weighing in at 3 oz., it should. My Rooster currently rests in my Clod crawler. This was also the first ESC I ever bought when I got into the hobby.
I'll be picking up a MC230CR this afternoon for use in my TLT-1. Great ESC, I used it in a RC10B3 a while ago. Very small and light... which is why it's going into a truck where space is at a premium.
The Intellispeed (I think we were using the 16T one) was used in a budget Rustler I built for a friend of my dads. It reminded me alot of the Rooster in terms of size/weight. I can't say much more about it other than it's been abused by the guys younger kids for almost 2 years now with no problems. I have heard of some complaints at my LHS about the Intellispeed's quitting for no reason, but that was about the time they were first introduced 2 years ago, when I was sourcing parts for the Rustler. I haven't heard anything bad, up until this post, since then. YMMV I suppose.
I guess your decision lies on how much money you want to spend. All of them are good ESC's. If you're looking for what I feel is the best, get the Rooster... but it's also the most expensive. If you're on a budget, get the Intellispeed. If space is an issue, the Futaba is a good choice. Really, you can't go wrong with any of them.
Make sure you get the ESC that best matches the motor your running. The Rooster is good to 15 turns (Super Rooster is unlimited), the Futaba is either 20 turns (MC230CR) or 13 turns (MC330CR), and Duratrax makes a couple different models all the way from 20 to 8 turns.
