Can anyone point me to an article describing how to make an actuator, and or close up picturs of oe at least?

Also, can you hook them up to a regular servo connector on let's say an RX72 micro reciever made by sky hooks and rigging? Or do they require special circuitry to operate them?

Yes you can hook an acuator up to a servoe amp board.ive had succes with the amp board from a cs21bb servoe that had failed due to a dead motor.i made my own actuators from .003 motor wire and a small rare earth magnet i salvaged from a laser from a broken cd player.i used 1/4 inch steel rod with two washers that fit farly snug on the steel.i put the washers on the rod spaced out about two eights of an inch apart, then i wrapped some teflon tape over the washers while pulling it tight so that it sinks in between the washers, i wraped it about 3 to 4 times.
the actuator is about 2 1/2 1/6ths inches wide, and is about 6 1/6ths round.i wraped the rod with the wire a couple of times then used some thin CA to secure it in place but keept on winding while the CA was still wet.i keept puting a little CA on it as i wound the coil.once it was done i let the CA cure then i pulled the first washer off, then carefully slid the second one off to push the coil off the rod.now u have a nice actuator to use on your smallest planes.the impedence of my actuators was about 22 ohms.

i hope this helps, there pretty easy to make once u get the hang of it have fun!...

one more thing to add, i cut the steel about 6" long so i could put it in my drill as i fed the wire in.good luck!
