Good to go!
She ran kinda sluggish but I think that was because the settings were helarich! Will be going out today to see what she does. Thanks

How much water should be coming out of the pee hole when the water pump is engaged? Should you use a water pick up and a rudder pick up and then "T" them off or no? The boat ran fine for just taking her out but there were a few concerns....
WHH cannister exhaust
-the bolts kept coming loose

The XP drive set up
- the bolt that came with it did not hold and I lost 2 of them
good thing I checked all the hardware before I sent her back out
you should always have your field gear(something I learned from
flying planes......

Torque rolling
- At faster speeds the boat tended to torque a little(more than I
would like)
--I will adjust weight to counter the effect

Riding a little wet
- I will adjust the strut angle and make it more positive
this will lower the transom and raise the bow correct?

The low and high speed needles seemed to be vibrating and changing the adjustments..................will put some rubber around to stabilize!

What needle settings are you all using high and low??????

Overall it was a good time! :)
Video coming soon......

water coming from the pee hole should be a fair amout. Not a trickle. Hard to really describe it without having a photo. What a lot of folks do is to have two pickups like your talking about. You are not going to double your volume by installing two pickups and then T'ing off into one.

My suggestion is what I'm about to do~ Put dual water cooling nipples on the cooling head. You'll see this a lot of times. Drill & tap the head along the same area the originals are. That way you will increase whats coming in & going out.

Oh, keep the pump, but then add an extra pickup. Or you could buy a dual pickup rudder. They have two lines coming off. You'd need to add a second pee hose too :D Like I said, this is in my boats future because its a backup.

Bolts... a lot of folks have had trouble with that. Call WHH. I believe they're recommending using a small drop of LocTite.

Speaking of Loctite, I use it on nearly every screw on the boat. Had more than one vibrate lose on the XP drive. Also, I prefere the Blue. Holds snug & is easy to break free w/wrench.

Riding wet.... Generally you'll lower the strut to raise the bow on a V'hull. (correct me if I'm wrong). Don't try to adjust the angle of it, just the height. Try 1/8" incriments. On mine, I've got 3/8" UP/Down to make adjustments. Not a lot, but its enough.

Torque roll... Try a different prop, strut adjustments, coming on the gas smooth, tabs, etc... Or you can learn to get used to it and anticipate oposite rudder about the time it happens.

Needle setting... humm, I try no to mess with them

Just read about the screws backing out.

Try some Red Loctite and lock washers.

Took the boat out(ok just got it and had the time) lots of fun until all of a sudden I heard a loud roar from the engine....lots of rev but no go. My cable broke---I mean snapped right at the Brass Ferrule (just outside of the ferrule where the solder ends)! This lead to my strut being knocked out of place and my prop hitting the rudder! The engine still runs and the clutch still engages so it looks like the only damage was the cable(luckily)

I have a flex cable from a weedwacker that is exactly like the one that broke.... My question is how do you make a flex cable from one of those?
What do you cut that cable with?
The one that I have has two ends that I can use so I can get 2 cables from this one! I might need another ferrule it I can't get the old solder and cable out!

Any ideas about drive cables? The one that I got does not really allow me to either got WOT without adjusting trim.....Could it be my servo?

Thanks
Manu

I would recommend cutting the cable with a handgrinder using a zipcut blade. Fast and clean. Don't forget to use saftey glasses. :D

Click that link to learn how to make your own cables. Too easy if you've got the tools.

Did you have the strut up or down enough to put stress on the cable? Was it lubbed good?

The strut is straight out from the transom. It looks like that cable just spun out....It was soldered into the ferrule by WHH so I will call them and see whats up!

Do you have an extra? I keep about three on hand at all times. Buy them ready to install for $18 ea. One of the many extra pieces to keep on hand. Two rudders
struts
dozens of props for testing
shafts
bearings
etc...

Can't ever just go to the water without bringing the shop along.

I guess I will have to invest in a good "field of goodies" I was not expecting anything like that to happen before I placed my next order!

"that's what happens when you assume...you make an @#$ out of
you an umption"

Will be trying to make one today so hopefully it will work!

Have you made trim tabs before? What did you use?

Here is a link where you can see what the end looked like that broke
and the other pic is of the one that I made today was'nt really that hard at all; hope it works!

Good job on the setup but the CG is too far forward, move it back and it will fix the too wet problem. Dont expect too much out of that hull because it does not run worth a heck.

The CG is already at 24% (11.5") I was not sure about that at the time because the manufacturer suggested 25-26% but I went with the cable length and xp stand-off setup! The hull has not demonstrated any problems as yet and I'm hoping for the best!

What does it mean when the boat is running and when you hit the throttle at medium speed or so it wants to die on you? The other day when I ran the boat with the factory settings it ran pretty fast.....but today it ran slower....Could my needle settings have anything to do with the fact that the engine wants to die with throttle? Is a high speed needle setting of 2turns out and 1 turn on the low speed needle(could this be considered too lean for an engine that is "borken in?")

More pics today check them out

Did you check the manual for the needle settings?

Medium speed would sound like a high speed needle. I'm guessing its lean and starvig for gas. Give it an 1/8 turn open. Work from there. If it persists after a full turn out, start from scratch and reverse it. But I'd be leery about leaning it in. Rather have that joker rich and safe than lean and toast.

If it idles alright and putts around pretty good, dont' mess with the lowspeed.

I've totally forgotten what the settings are supposed to be. Go to Jims and search around before posting.

I ran my boat through 1 tank before i started to adjust the needles and as soon as i did, it started to die, i fooled and fooled with the needles. All for nothing, it turned out there was dirt in the built in gas filter in the carb. The dirt passed through the included gas filter from WHH and got stopped in the carb. I now have a better gas filter in the line after the included one from WHH. Double the protection. I damaged my carb for no good reason after i cleaned the dirt out and had to order another. Found the cheapest price right back to WHH @ $44 for a carb for the 26zen. Have only tested it once since before water froze over and it was a cold and windy day so i am anxious to see the performance this summer.

This is a great place to post videos (unlimited)

Just look under "manuloco" and you will be able to find the ones of my Deep vee!!!!!!!

Lesson learned...check your carb for dirt or residue thanks for the heads-up on that one!
