i like to use a little bit of CA glue to tack wooden parts together. only a little though! then after the assembly is all tacked together, i'll put epoxy onto the joints. i like this method because of the fast set up time of CA allows the parts to set quickly, this means that it's easier to keep them lined up. but, like i said, i only put a little on to hold the pieces together. i use the epoxy to actually form the bond. it has higher strength than CA and fills the gaps better and is easier to sand when it's time to put your finish on the boat. i've been using mostly 15 and 30 minute epoxies. for some reason, the i've had a hard time with the 2 hour stuff so i quit using it. hope this helps!

Yes, but make sure you use the SLOW CA. Anything else will just dry before you have it in the right position or soak into the wood and not bond well. It still bonds within 30 seconds or so, so it is still a lot faster than epoxy. Good luck with your boat :D

I've never worked with Gorilla Glue, but have a friend that does. From what I've seen it's messy and hard to use. Is this true, or is he just being sloppy? By the way, being politicly correct isn't necessary ;)

Ya, gorilla glue is pretty messy, it also forms little bubbles. However its good for tasks like glueing foam to the inside of your hull, since it won't eat through it

I guess that means I stick with epoxies and super glues. I need to build lite and, if at all possible, clean. That's what happens when you build racing boats :D

Is it WATERPROOF? If not, I wouldn't use it.
