Fiberglass on the outside of both hull and hatch. I would also coat the inside with resin to seal it on the inside. Otherwise, if water gets inside, the wood will swell up and ruin the hull :(

by the way, sorry for the double post. My computer froze up, and when I got back on, it had uploaded the post twice :D. Fiberglass is the only thing that will make your hull very strong, waterproof, and lightweight. You could tryy just sealing and painting it, but then it would probably flex and crack with the slightest impact. Also, if you missed any part, it would ruin the hull. Overall, especially if this is your first kit, I would definitely go with fiberglass. Good luck with your project :D

Believe it or not; Thompsons water proofing for inside. Now for the outside use sand-no-sand gray paint which seals wood and wait 6 hours and then paint.I got the waterproofing in RCBM of 1998 which was used on a Electrafied boat. The exterior i got from Paul Pachmeyer of Ill. This may sound weird but i also use clear sealer on the inside and let dry and gets in nooks and granny's with the spray. Off-subject, put plenty of floatation in cause i lost a Micro-Bullet with not enough floatation in it which had a Neo 05 and 8 -2600 cells and a RC-Hydros esc. i thought i had plenty but guess not. The cells vented and blew cover 10 feet up in the air and had bubble plastic on cover and retrieved it, I told you people so you are aware it can happen, so put plenty of it in. Rc boats do cost but are a LOT of FUN!!!
