A new onroad track will be opening soon in Pine Level North Carolina. It's designed for smaller cars such as 1/12 scale, 1/18 scale and Mini-Z. The Bud's Oval Outlaws work killer there along with the Mini-Z's. Soon, we hope to try out a few of the Micro RS4's and M18 X-Rays. 4 cell Legends will be run too along with foam tired Losi Mini-T's.

Address is:
Laso Hobbies and Crafts
119 W. Pine St.
Pine Level NC

E-mail: laso60@yahoo.com

By the way, the air conditioning works good in there too!! :D

Okay Ron I found it. :D
Had some fun yesterday even though you guys beat up on me in the main.
Justin seems to really like the Carisma cars too.

I just noticed your post doesn't have Laso's website listed, in case anyone was wondering here it is...... http://www.lasorcraceway.com/

hello fellow racers. :) had a great time Sunday at the track, even though the legends car was giving me a fit. i firmly believe that everyone that races there has a good time, win or lose.

bring on the 12th scale for some more added fun. :D

Hey-
Where is Pine Level NC? How far away is it from the Triad/Winston-Salem area? Thanks.

jtn
10-25-2004, 06:16 PM
Nicke - Pine Level is just a few miles from Smithfield. I would say it is about 2-2 1/2 hours from Winston Salem.

10-25-2004, 09:10 PM
ya 2 1/2 hours would be pretty close to right. not a bad ride though all 4 lanes. The brp race looked fun yesterday im going to have to put mine back together and see what the little white truck can do. Its going to be tough to catch the green one though. finally got the mini t back together after its encounter with turn 3 in wilson, hope to run it again soon. Legends ran decent was about a tenth or so off if Jimmy had not of broke i was not going to catch him. anyways thanks to ray for fixing my motor up for me yesterday. and even though rodney still won looks like he has some competition. :)

Hey yall!

Sorry I couldn't make it last Sunday. Have to do the family thing once in awhile. If I don't, my "sponsor" gets a little "unruly", if you know what I mean!

Planning on being there this weekend, though. Been tuning on the Mini T, trying to make it faster. I really enjoyed running it the other week.

See yall there....

Dee.

jtn
10-25-2004, 10:25 PM
Yeah the green truck was fast but couldn't get it done in the main. Ray had something to do with that though....
Looking forward to next week.....seems like the BRP class is gonna be some fun.
Ron- I put some more 4-cell packs together for the 12th scale......

Ron Zee

I just wish he hadn't messed up the printouts in the main. I would've liked to see the lap times in that one. I belive you and I were about even, and there were a few times I could drive away from you. If Ray hadn't been "getting in your way" i think it would've been a lot closer race. And I still woulda won. :p

Ron - You never would have caught me, so how would you have won?  It was a good race and a lot of fun.

Cheer - They are currently racing on Sunday afternoons. Open at 1pm and start around 3-3:30. He is also open on Saturdays and some nights during the week for practice. Not too far of a drive from Raleigh/Cary either.

dee---i won't be running legends next weekend. had enough trouble with it last time out to last a while. i will be running the carisma class. justin ran a great race, and was talking smack before the race about how he was gonna take everyone to school. needless to say the competition was better than he thought.

jtn---good runs by you and justin. we definitely need to get the word out about how much fun rc racing really is at laso. good people, good sportmanship, and good food.

jtn
10-26-2004, 04:46 PM
Your right DB, tons of fun. I didn't think I would enjoy it as much at first but, I was wrong. and it costs a lot less too which is good cause otherwise the sponsor gets upset.

After Justin started the smack talk, I was hoping someone would quiet him down..... :D
Serves him right.........what was he saying? This is my house? lol.

Hey Don and Brian.

Man, I heard yall had some good racing last Sunday. Sure wish I could have been there.

But I'll definately be there this Sunday. And that's OK about the Legends. I'd really rather run my Mini T anyway. It handles alot better! :D

Hey Cheerwiner, there should be a pretty good crowd at Laso Sunday. I think the racing starts at 3:00PM. There's gonna be lots of food and fun, so you oughta check it out if you can. We're running foam tires, and usually run Losi speed motors, but they run modified there too when there's enough there.

See yall there...

Dee.

ya racing was pretty good jimmy had his new dale jr body on rails and i think me and don hit every rail he put down. ill be ready for mini t when i get back along with brp too hopefully. i still like that legends though i think thats the most fun i have had with r/c stuff so far. i am going to put one of the speed motors in i guess, unless some others want to run the modified i still have the baja.

Dee
10-26-2004, 09:18 PM
Yea, I know what you mean, Brian. The Legends cars are a handful at Laso, with so much acceleration and marginal handling. They do make for an exciting race, though! :D

I'm not retiring mine yet. Even though it's probably got hundreds of miles on her, she still good for a few more races.

I gotta get some new brushes for my spec motors, and do a little rebuilding before I race it again.

Good luck with the "Big" truck this weekend!

Dee.

DBWalker
10-29-2004, 04:08 PM
where is this Race factory at?

jtn
10-30-2004, 12:32 AM
DB- the Race Factory is in Cary. Pretty nice place....We had a good time. I can't believe how fast those Slot cars are!!

Ron Zee
10-30-2004, 10:07 AM
Man, I thought Johns and my 1/12ths were fast on the oval. Those little slot cars, 155' long track, 2.4 seconds. and that wasn't the fastest cars they drive on that track.

Way nice place, nice guys, 1st class all the way. They'll be able to run pretty much anything electric there except the 1/10th tourers will be a little more than tight,, unless they limit the size or amount of cars on the track at one time. Still, not quite as tight as Mooresville used to be.

Hmmm,, do we get a discount for coming tomorrow in a costume?? That's ok, I'll be there anyhow. My BRP wants to exercise. Or was it the F-1??? lololol

DBWalker
10-30-2004, 04:11 PM
thank you John. i will be running carisma only tomorrow. the legends
car needs to get a new driver.

Ron Zee
10-30-2004, 11:19 PM
Well, with limited funds I'm not sure what class I'll be running. Either the F-1, the BRP, or if there are any, I'd love to run my Mico X-Ray!!!

See you all about 1-1:30

Don't forget you clocks!!!!!!

Oh hey, this is the second largest slot car track at this Race Factory. I think they call it the hill. Just wish there was a car on it for size wise. But, the thing is 8 lanes wide.

jtn
10-31-2004, 11:38 AM
Justin and I are ready....We should be there around 1. No 1/12th Ron?

jtn
10-31-2004, 09:04 PM

Good race Ray!
Hey Ron......you want to run the 12th scales out here next Sunday?

Dee
10-31-2004, 09:35 PM
Had alot of fun today too, Smitty. And the food was great! Thanks to both you and Lisa for looking out for us! :)

Enjoyed racing Legend cars again today. Jimmy W. had the fastest car, but I was lucky enough to somehow win. Randy did a great job his first time out with his. He's gonna be winning before you know it.

Looking forward to running my Mini T again soon, and letting my son run the new Carisma car.

See yall next time! ;)

11-02-2004, 02:51 PM
Hmmm, maybe I could next weekend John. Have to see whats up with the F-1 class. If Jimmy and sons run together, then I'll more than likly run the 1/12th. I think I'm going to let Justin keep running the BRP, but it will be faster next time out.

jtn
11-02-2004, 03:29 PM

DBWalker
11-02-2004, 04:15 PM
the racing was fun and exciting this past weekend. many thanks to Smitty and Lisa for being the most gracious of hosts. :D

jtn
11-02-2004, 07:17 PM
Hey DB they do race on Firday nights. Stop in, I think you will like it. Real nice place....I am thinking of getting me an X-ray to run there.

Ron Zee
11-02-2004, 10:37 PM
Thing is John, I haven't taken ANY of the cars I have out of the trunk for about 3 months, so I'll have the TC3, 2 BRP's, Carisma Indy, Micro X-Ray, 1/12th Carpet Knife, 2 chargers, a power supply, and a whole bunch of different batteries. Hmm,,,, now that everyone knows whats in the trunk, maybe I oughta download some of it. Might improve the gas milage a little.

jtn
11-03-2004, 11:12 AM
Understood. Justin is thinking he wants to get a BRP too. We'll see......I think he would have fun with a Mini-T or RC18T too.

Ron Zee
11-03-2004, 10:59 PM
Hmmm,, as an "exebition" class we might be able to run the 1/12ths for little or no funds. Guess we'd have to ask the man about that. But hey, I'm leaning towards running the 1/12th anyhow. I'm going to leave the gearing alone on the BRP for me at the other place, but when Justin gets it Sunday, it will be faster than it was last week. We also gotta talk to Smitty about those motor prices. Mines been in that truck since June!!!

jtn
11-04-2004, 08:08 AM
Well, either way I will bring the 1/12th out and we will see what he says. Should be fun. I was consistently hitting 3.1s and 3.2s with it.

wow where is everyone been kinda quiet this week. Me and rodney went down to wilson tonight to play some on that new track down there. he ran his gas rc10 on the dirt track for a while, that looked like fun then the concrete dried enough i could get some laps in with the legends, and wow was that fun. its like a big soup bowl. Don and Dee you guys have to come try that. I was running about 5.00 flats with the spec batteries and motor, and foams. Rodney ran the "illegal" carisma out there and was running around 6.5's. haha anyways im tired of typing now so i'll quit.

Brian

jtn
11-05-2004, 08:08 AM
Brian - Did Chad mention when they plan to start racing on the concrete?
Justin and I plan on running our NitroTC3s up there.

sedanracer8
11-05-2004, 08:44 AM
I am not sure but i think he said this sat. give them a call to find out. i know they are waiting on lights because the concrete is supposed to be night racing. Don't know what kind of tire you will run on that tc3 but if you have different compounds you will need two brick hard tires on the front. Also i tightened the diff all the way down on the legends car, but i know you guys have different diffs you can change on the tc3 so. a few guys were out there the other night with them and they could not seem to keep them in the right direction.

jtn
11-05-2004, 09:43 AM

Hey Brian. Sounds like I might have to go check that track out sometime. The only gas vehicle I have is a mildly modded Nitro Rustler. But I still got my XXXS, Legend car, Mini T, and I bought a Carisma car last week, thinking I would let my son run it in Jr Carisma. But I might have to run it against Rodney one weekend! :p

By the way, I am a little impressed with the Carisma car. I didn't know you could get bearings, a hotter motor, and even graphite parts for these things.

????????

Ron Zee
11-07-2004, 11:23 PM
Hmmm, maybe I shoulda looked at the Laso website before I posted this week. These were the captions on the Oct.31 winners pictures pages.

The first one goes, "Our past BRP Super Truck king of the class Mr. Zzzzzzz definatly has nothing for these guys to the point that he sold his truck for this class."

No, I did NOT sell my blue BRP truck to anyone. I've been letting Justin North drive it when there wasn't other classes for him to run in. I let Ray borrow it a few times to try out the class also. I haven't run it because I can NOT AFFORD to run more than 1 class. I've been running the F-1 because I talked Jimmy into and he in turn talked his sons into buying the things. Seeing as I've been the one talking up the class, I felt that I should be running in the class.

The second goes, "F-1 cars winner Ron Zzzzz is definatly going to race where he can be the best and he has no match from the competition."

I do not run from or to any class because of competition or perceived lack thereof. If I decide not to run a class, that's my decision. I do not run to win at all costs, I run to have fun. And contrary to what it seems most people think, I run my cars for the fun of it. I got tired of hearing people saying that I must be cheating with my BRP. That it's not legal. Something must be going on. A person can only take so much. So I parked it.

You'll notice that the above comments have quotes on them. That's because I copied it word for word off of the other site. Now, I may be wrong and out of line, but to me, it sounds like I run the F-1 cars because I can win there whenever I want too, and that I parked my BRP because I'm afraid John and Ray will outrun me.

jtn
11-08-2004, 08:36 AM
Ron......you know your scared.....lol. Just kidding.

I don't think you should take the comments real serious. I think he was just having fun when he wrote it.

Dee
11-08-2004, 04:20 PM
I agree. I don't think the comments were meant to be taken personally, Ron. Anyone that knows you knows you are just racing for the fun of it. If you run up front, it's because you have years of experience in R/C racing, know how to set a car up like you want, and you're a good driver.

And I think the racing is more fun when you're there.

Dee.

looks like another weekend of no racing for me. :( come to think of it, it will be about three weeks before i hit the track again. i will be going to Alabama the weekend before Thanksgiving to give my daughter away at her wedding. the one thing that scares me is that i keep having flashbacks of the movie Easy Money with Rodney Dangerfield and some dude, whom i have yet to meet, looking at me and saying, "Can I call you dad?" this will be an oppurtunity to see my folks while i am there.

dee---i think that the problem with the legends car may be taken care of. we will see at the next demolition derby. ;) :D

Ron Zee
11-11-2004, 11:35 PM
"oh Dad! Or can I call you Pop??" Yeah, that was one of his better movies. I like how she turns into a love crazed wacko at the end,, " oh Julio!!! " " No, no more, not again, I can't take it!! "

Hey, hope to be there Sunday with whatever to run whatever class. Let's see, so many choices,,,, Carisma F-1, 1/12th, BRP, 1/18th Micro, Mini-Z. Hmmm,, how about the 1/18th X-ray against the Mini-T's?

Dee
11-12-2004, 04:48 PM
Hey Don.

I'll probably park the Legends car for awhile anyway. I want to run the Mini T some more. And I want to run the Carisma car some too, just to get it set up for my son.

Wait a minute, you can't do anything to the Carisma car, right? :o

Oh well. I need to get some more brushes for my spec motors before I run Legend again. And I thought about blowing the dust and cobwebs off of my touring car. Spent the first part of this year upgrading it to where it should handle, and never raced it.

Dee.

jtn

I thought that's what it might be why you weren't there today. Had fun running my BRP truck again. No F-1. I was the only one there, the Wilsons we're off working I guess.

Anyhow, new motor got me back to 4.2's again instead of the 4.6's the last time it was run. New battery also helped out some. Shoulda seen my truck in the second heat though. Looked a little strang with the body mounted UPSIDE DOWN! Definatly cooled the motor off though,,,

Had alot of fun racing the Mini T again yesterday. Randy had my number in a couple of heat races, but I was lucky enough to win in the main. I may not be as lucky next time, because Randy keeps getting faster every race!

My son had alot of fun yesterday too. Looks like the Carisma car is just what he needed.

And, by the way, RON! What did you do to my kid! LOL! He laughed ALL THE WAY HOME last night! Check out his face in the group pic at LASO. I think the "Stinky Underwear" comment right before the pic was taken was more than he could handle! LOL! :D

Well, I found out first hand today that you actually can traction roll a Mini T, even though it has been slammed. My search for more front end bite, plus my drenching the right front tire with sauce had my Mini T on it's lid more than once in the main. Add to that, the last corner dot in turn two kept running out in front of me! LOL! And then there's this driver thing...

Jimmy W. ran a smooth race in the main, and certainly deserved the win. Even turning 3.8's the last few laps couldn't put me back out front. Oh well, that's racing. Congratulations Jimmy.

Looking forward to racing again next week. Oh Ron, thanks for getting me that "secret weapon". Shhh..... Don't tell Jimmy W.!!! :D

See yall later...

Sorry Dee, he already knows!! I'll try to keep putting him off as long as I can though. And WHy oh why would you even consider putting traction suace on the right front tire? Left front maybe, never the right on an oval track. Maybe with thatsmaller pack you'll need to move it as far forward as you can to get some weight on the front tires. I'd have to see it to get a better idea on what I could do to help you out. Next week?

Anyhow, had fun yesterday, car ran pretty good all day. Maybe it was my T35. The Quasar definatly seemed to put more juice in the batteries yesterday. They fell off towards the end of the runs, but none died like before. Hmmm,,,

Dee
11-22-2004, 04:42 PM
Yea, I know Ron. I had run the first heat with tire sauce on the inside front tire, and both back tires, and had my hands full with Jimmy. The second heat, when I used the "secret weapon", I put a little sauce on the right front, and was flying! When I finished the last heat, I got a little carried away, because I had never traction rolled it before. But, it was a great race. I was reeling him in, but not fast enough to catch him. But I had alot of fun. Hope there will be more Mini T's next time.

Man, I used to call Jimmy hard core. Let's see,,, for the last month or so, I've been running Fri., Sat. and Sun. Money getting tighter, so somethings gotta give,,,

Had fun today, even though I was intentionally taken out on the last lap. Oh well,,, Payback and all that,,,

Dee
11-28-2004, 11:23 PM
Wow, the competition just keeps getting faster and faster!

I made a change on the 'ol Legend car for today, one I had been a little worried about trying, and went out and turned the fastest laps I've ever turned at Laso. A 3.67 on one of them. Only to look back, and Jimmy W. is gnawing on my heels, turning back to back 3.7 flats! It's like every time I get faster, he gets that much faster and more!

Had a super blast racing today in Legends. One particular heat, I had to drive as hard as I could just to keep Jimmy behind me. And then Andrew comes along, and gets faster each heat as well. Even though he wasn't quite as fast as me and Jimmy, he raced hard, but was gracious enough to try and give me and Jimmy racing room whenever he could.

Hope to make it out again next Sunday. Jimmy W., I hope Tim makes a fast and complete recovery too.

For Sale, one BRP "truck". Compleate with ESC and servo. No radio. High Flex T-Plate, bearings, Ball Diff, Flipped rear axle, lowered chassis, and a Camaro body on it. Runs really well. Also will come with the big block motor plates. 100.00 will make it your own.

The "blue" one is NOT for sale.

So I will prob run mini-t Sun if i can get some more batteries. Hey Brian. Where yall been? We had a pretty good Legends race last week. And I'm ready to run the Mini T again too. Jimmy W. won the Mini T race a couple of weeks ago, and I need a rematch with him.

been trying our hand at some gas trucks. I will definately try to run the mini t. had forgot how much fun it was handled like a charm with those threaded crc shocks :). Like i said about the legends i dont think the motor is up to snuff to run the #'s i heard you guys were running so i may not run it.

Dee
12-02-2004, 11:30 PM
Yea, the Mini T's are alot of fun to race, Brian.

But if you want to run your Legend car, I'll take my com lathe to the track with me Sunday. It won't take but just a minute to true it up, just check with Smitty to see if he has any brushes. If not, I may have some.

Oh, you can tell Rodney to be prepared to run in the 3.6-3.7 range if he runs Legends. I was running slightly faster laps than Jimmy, on average, but he is the mph king. Lord help us if he ever gets that thing hooked up!

Dee.

sedanracer8
12-03-2004, 12:10 AM
i will check with him and see if he has any brushes. if not what kind do i need to go fast :). if he doesn't have them i may see if i can hunt some down. ya 3.6 is rockin and rollin on that track especially when you put 3 or 4 out there. i dont think rodney knows quite what kind of speed he is getting into. although he used to run the mini t's with the modifieds. we turned 3.7's but still there is a slight size difference.

sedanracer8
12-03-2004, 11:45 AM
ok i think i may of found the problem with the legends car motor. the bushings inside of it were wore out. probably had .020 or .030 of slop in them. hmm maybe thats it who knows i'll put some new ones in it and try anybody know where i can get some for the spec motor?

Ron Zee
12-03-2004, 03:21 PM
Are the bushings worn, or is the shaft worn? More often, the shaft gets a groove in it where it rides against the bushings. You could replace the bushings with some out of a stock motor if you need too. I don't know of anyone who stocks replacement bushiings for motors. Usually when they get that bad, most people replce the motor due to the magnets getting weak.

Hey Brian.

Sorry I couldn't be with yall yesterday. But that's the way it goes. I'm not going to be able to make it this weekend, either. My son is in another Christmas parade over in Walstonburg.

I doubt I would have been any faster than you, if I had been there. The 3.67 was the fastest lap I turned, and I wasn't in the 3.6's and 3.7's every lap, either. Us old guys have a problem being consistent! LOL!

Hope everyone has a great week. Maybe I can make it back on the 19th. That is when Smitty is gonna have the drawing, right? :D

Dee.

sedanracer8
12-06-2004, 10:24 PM
ya i think the 19th is the drawing. dont know if i will race sunday or not. i know i am going to drive the big legends car in the pine level parade for smitty along with some others driving some r/c's but doubt i will stay and race. Christy is having surgery on the 14th to remove her galbladder if that is how u spell so i prob need to spend some time with her before hand. and the next weekend we have to go down to SC to her familys christmas. then the next weekend is christmas. so looking like it will be after christmas before i get to race at laso again. least i have my mini t back together maybe i can race it up and down the halls at the hospital while she is there. haha that could be fun. better yet i could get one of the cameras and just sit in room and go exploring around. im going to quit now cause its starting to sound like something Ron would say haha.

Dee
12-06-2004, 11:10 PM
Yea Brian, I know what you mean. It may be after Christmas before I can do race again. I have an anniversary coming up on the 18th, so I don't know if I can even make it on the 19th. December is always a busy time for me.

Hope everything goes well with Christy's surgery. My wife, Sandee, had to have her gallbladder removed right after my son was born, back in '91. But the doctors were able to do a laparoscopic surgery, and she was back home in a couple of days, as I recall. Tell Christy we wish her a speedy recovery.

Oh, by the way, how many laps did you and Rodney turn yesterday? I'm just curious. Oh, and keep that Mini T tuned up and ready. Iwanna race mine again soon.

Dee.

sedanracer8
12-06-2004, 11:35 PM
not very many. Rodney put me in the wall coming out of 4 out about lap 5 and it knocked my battery loose . i had to plug it back in and he waited for me. we got going again and after i put about 5 laps on him i just started messing with him. i think i got 65 and he had like 60. no where near the norm.

Ron Zee

sedanracer8
12-08-2004, 10:16 PM
thats kinda what im thinking. i will wait and see if i hear any negative stuff about it and then get one prob after christmas. Dee if you come sunday we will have a great legends race if i stay. even if its only you me and rodney. We went up there tonight and i got mine dialed back in and we figured out that rodney had not set the speed control on his properly so it was only running about 3/4 throttle last sunday. Me and him got out there and ran prob 20 laps swapping the lead back and forth without laying a bumper on each other, and i am just guessing but i am thinking we were prob in the 3.6 or 3.7 range all those laps, it was great. Smitty is bringing his transponders tomorrow and we are going to run some more. How bout Mike and Blake when they coming back?

Dee
12-08-2004, 11:10 PM
Hey Brian.

Yea, sounds like you and Rodney are probably turning as fast a lap times as anyone now. The hard part is trying to race and not wreck every lap! LOL!

I can't make it this Sunday. My son has a Christmas parade he's gonna be in. I'm gonna try and make it back on the 19th, but I can't promise right now. Things should be better in January.

Mike said he wants to get back and race Legends again soon. He said he had more fun racing it than anything else he's had in a long time.

He said that Blake wanted to go and try out his touring car at Rosewood again, maybe this Saturday. I might go there too, if I can. I have a new set up on my XXXS, and might try spec touring, or maybe Mini T if anyone shows up. Or Legends. Just depends on if I can make it, and what classes are running.

12-13-2004, 02:33 PM
John, in spec all those years, I used either the stock ones that came in the motor, or "spec" brushes that have 2 color shunts on them, or to be honest, whatever I happened to have in my box to use. As I've been told so many times, "it's not like your really racing,,". Geee, I wonder why I stopped running it.

Ah, er, I can't make it today, Brian. Even if the roads over here were clear, my brother-in-law finally made it in from Kentucky for Christmas. He was supposed to have been in last Friday, but the winter storm they had over there held him up.

Besides, I gotta find some more speed before I try to run with you and Rodney! :D

I practiced with my Carisma car and my Mini T up at Rosewood the other week too. Maybe we can all go there one Saturday, and back to Laso on Sunday some weekend. I'm starting to have racing withdrawal symptoms!

Hey guys this is Smitty & Lisa. Todays racing was cancelled due to about 3 inches of snow and then another inch of ice. We didn't want anyone to get hurt! Hope everyone had a good Christmas. Don't forget Carisma points series starts next week. It should be good. It will be eight weeks long and you throw away one of the eight. The registration will be only $10.00 a week. Trophies will be given out to the top 5 places at the end of the Eight weeks. The 1st place winner also wins a new carisma car! We also plan on starting a Mini-T points series after the carisma one ends; if there is enough time before the national points for the legend cars start. Hope to see everyone next week. stay safe and warm.

ron i am buying some because the car i have is the car steven originally had. he sold to brandon and threw in one battery. then brandon ran it and was not discharging and was charging with the little 4 hour charger, so it has absolutely no power. so i tried one of rodneys batteries and it really picked the car up so i am buying 2 new ones, so i can keep up

Dee

Well, I still have two carisma batteries, and the last time I tried them, they worked OK. I'd like to have a couple more, if we're gonna run for points.

hey dee if u want any carisma batteries you might want to drop smitty a line and let him know to hold you some, or let me know and i will pick them up for ya and you can just pay me back. there were 10 on the shelf today at 2 when i stopped by there. i bought 2 from that. the tonight rodney bought two and i guess someone else bought 3 more. so anyways only 3 more left on the rack. you coming to run sunday. looks like it will be a good class. you,me, rodney, ron, randy, micheal if he shows, then you have smittys son in law, and his two grandsons that got some for christmas, oh ya and don, and then maybe joseph and justin north. that would be a full a and b main. hmmm that sure does sound fun.

Thanks, Brian, I really appreciate the offer. But I hate for you to have to go back over there and pick up a battery for me. If something were to come up, and I not be able to make it Sunday, it will be two weeks before I can get back over there. I've got to fly up to Ohio for training on the software we use to track parts at work, and I'll be up there for the whole week.

I'll email or call Smitty, and see if he can hold one for me.

hey guys; we will be having a trophy race for Legends and for novice class this Sunday January 23. We will also have one for Legends class the next Sunday the 30th. Need to start gearing up and practicing for the Points coming soon. Also we have a few guys wanting to start a M18 class, so come on out if interested. Attention 1/12 scales, we have some interested in getting this class started. A few have raced it and it is bolistic. So if you think you can handle it and want to have some "real" fun come on out. We are starting a "powder puff " class soon [women only] this should be interesting! MINI-T's are still racing FREE. We have alot of things coming up; so stay tuned.

M18 class,, is that as in Micro RS4's and Mini-X-rays? If so,, mines in the trunk every week. Dead stock X-Ray mini car with foam tires, with a Dead stock HPI Micro motor in it. No mods at all in this thing and I'll run it against all comers!!!

here's one for all you gotta go faster yo-yos,, dead stock Mini-T with bearings and foam tires only, no gearing changes, no lowering the chassis, nothing at all, and ends up 2nd in the A-main last weekend against 5 other speed motored, lowered, ect "stock" trucks. Wonder what I coulda done if I had messed with the gearing and lowered it down,,,

The drifting stuff was a full on blast!! Had so much fun doing it, I couldn't drive!! Rodney won cause I was laughing so dam hard!. Seems the TC4 isn't a breakable as I thought. I took a few good hits and it's still in one piece. The F-40 is just plain slow in Carisma; I think I'll end up sticking a rocket motor in it's butt. The Mini-T was funn too, but I got bounced around too much in the main to really run up front. Jimmy put in a speed motor and I think it was faster stock. At least my lap times last week were faster??,,,

Not sure if I'll be there this weekend, going to the SnowBirds on Tuesday morning and I think I'll be sleeping in.

Hey, just a minute!! Rodney might have qualified better than me at the birds, but it was only because he didn't break anything on his TC3 and you all know how a TC4 is. Actually, I think you may have a hard time getting a good crowd since the entry fees are a little high especially if the pay back is only going to the winner and only if there are 10 or more.
Anyway - What are the rules for the touring classes? Foams or rubber tires? ???

We did not set the entry fee or the payout for touring class. the sponsor did, but the trophies will be given out regardless of how many in the class. 6FT. TROPHIES are very expensive and unheard of for r/c racing in this area.We did set the entry fee and payout for the mini-t class and it will be given for the first 3 places along with the 6FT. trophies. We have already had good response and have just started [advertising]. THERE WILL BE ALOT OF OTHER PERKS TOO LIKE FREE PIZZA FOR ALL REGISTERED DRIVERS, RAFFLES, TROPHY GIRLS, FULL SIZED LATE MODEL RACE CARS.AND TO SHOW POSSIBLY HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF SPECTATORS WHAT R/C RACING IS ALL ABOUT SINCE THIS COINCIDES WITH KRUSIN' KENLY WHICH HAS ABOUT 6,000 PEOPLE ATTENDING. THIS CAN ONLY HELP R/C RACING FOR ALL TRACKS.It will be rubber tires.

I am not trying to downplay the race or get in an arguement here......I was just making a comment on the entry cost. It seems high to me with no handout motor or anything.

I hope there is a good turnout. Would be nice to race touring somewhere else once in awhile in this area and am all for getting attention to our sport! It might get a few more racers in the area.
I will be there to run touring, if there are enough to run, I will stay and race........if not.....well there is another place to run at later that day with people to race against........

I think you should post a few places across the internet to maybe get some more people in the NC\VA area to come. I don't think too many people know about this race.....Might also help to give dimensions of what the track size and surface is going to be like along with what the layout might be. With only having a few hours of practice that info would be helpful.

Just stoping by to say a quick hello to everyone. My Names Wells, Use to be a regular at Rosewood till Life whent a little screwed. Everythings straitend back out now. and hope to start stopeing by Rosewood And Laso on a regular basis from now on. :)

Not gonna be raceing alot off the bat, as ive been bitten by the 1/10 "Drift" bug and seem to be hooked on it at the moment. Once my Yokomo comes in and i get it up and running i'll be bashing it around to see how that aspect of the R/C sport takes. If i like it i'll wind up messing around with that the most while i debate on getting a mini-t or an X-ray to use/play with at Laso while i beg Glenn to let me drift around on his carpet/pavement track with the Yokomo between races. :D :D

Ron Zee
03-21-2005, 03:23 PM
Yes Smitty, the battery issue needs to be addressed for the Spec class. See, you can't get any new SPEC batteries from trinity right now. Glenn's had them on order for 5 months now. That's why Rosewood went to using Venom 1800 MAh packs. They also cost less than regular Spec packs.

Ron - he said on the Kenly race forum that 3300s could be used for spec.

Ron Zee
03-23-2005, 09:49 PM
Well to me that sorta beats the heck outa Spec racing. A Spec motor with 3300's is basically a mod class. With the speeds they might get to, they'll be running like 19 turns. But hey, what do I know.

Hi Dee, the reason for 3300 batteries is that no hobby shops seems to be able to get any spec packs right now. They have been on back order for months. Some racers has asked if they could run 2400 batteries, This is fine but some don"t have these either. So you can run any battery UP TO 3300. Mini-T class will be with the Truck bodies.

Ron Zee---I did get the part to fix the F1. I shall try to get it up and going soon, and hopefully learn how to drive the thing without having the rearend come around on me. You did miss a good time in Kenly. I know you have had this happen to you before. You turn around to leave the driver's stand, only to see about four or five spectators hovering over your pit table. I think that kind of openess is what gets alot of people interested in the hobby/sport of rc racing, or just plain ol' rc in general. They are happy to know that we are just plain human beings who enjoy comraderie and competition among friends. And they are always full of questions, and the main two are, "How fast does it go? and How much does it cost?" Maybe I can get the F1 up to the Wood and start using it for the reason I bought it in the first place. :D (drifting f1's at Laso,,,hmmmmm)

Nomac---Glad I could help dude. :) The gears are yours to keep. Just bring home the gold. :D

just want to clarify- so a 6 cell stock is not possible? hmm, i have 2 packs i can cut down to 4 packs I suppose but I'll have to figure out battery spacing (holding them in place!)

hey then i will have 3 quantity 4 cell packs then ;)

Yes the track is oval; with a simple road course through the middle for m-18. you can go to our web site under track pictures and see it.It is www.lasorcraceway.com .It will have to be 4-cell stock, 6-cell is too fast. It will be 6-cell for drifters. You can just use a piece of foam to take up extra space with the batteries; to hold them in place. We race every Wednesday night and Sunday. We are also working on a flat oval dirt track approx. 110ft. by 40ft.with at least 12ft. travel lanes that will be run on saturdays.
