I dont have a boat or anything but...
I'm into nitro touring cars and i want to build my own boat. I have a .12 engine and i have a radio and other little parts.

Lets see i need a hull, i think i will just buy one for a nitro boat and modify it cause i have something in mind...

I want to have 1 engine drive 2 propellers and i think i know how to do this it goes something like this

<PROP SHAFT HERE><ENGINE><PROP SHAFT HERE>

the < and > are gear teeth. The engine is sitting in the middle as its turning it turns one prop clockwise and theother counter-clockwise. That seems to be the easy part.

Now i just want to know what i need for a rudder, how to make the driveshafts go out without leaking?? Stuffing boxes or what?

If possible please give me links to parts i would need on tower.

Dont tell me to get a hammer or something cause i wanna build this thing myself.

Do you want to build everything yourself, or buy an empty hull and go from there?

Don't try to run 2 props off of a .12 motor. I have a few .12 powered boats myself and know that it won't cut it! Finding the right props that you are going to need is almost impossible for as small as they would need to be. Do yourself a favor and forget the project. Seriously.

It would have been something to try but it would take some machining skills to build the gearbox. I ran 2 of my .12 boats this afternoon and I wouldn't try a twin prop setup on either one. If it was practical, somebody would have done it by now. Too many things happen when running twin props in an application like this. When the boat leans into a corner, one prop will free up making handling probelms. Nothing wrong with putting a hot touring car motor in a boat but using a single prop is the way to go.

If for some reason you DID still want to do this, Dumas makes some bulkhead mounted gears & such like you were describing. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0091p?&C=BGL&V=DUM

If you want to buy a hull and then equip it from there, then BBY Racing (www.bbyracing.com) sells some good hulls. Otherwise, if you were planning on building the hull yourself, then rc boat modeler has some good plans. They are availible at www.rcstore.com. Good luck with your project. :D
