I want a boat.

Hey guys,
The past few days something has me really hyped about boats. I dont know any good sites to get one but also i need help with selection.
Ok i have a nitro onroad car so i have expirience with nitro and r/c generaly.

What are some good boats that arent expensive but can handle some choppy water.
I want it to be no more than 400 and can handle waves.

Would you give me some boat names that fit my specs and would you pleasee tell me were to buy em cause i cant find none except tower.
I've been thinking about buying a used boat, is this a good idea or no?

I tell people to look at ther Aquacraft Nitro Hammer. Yeah, it's a boat that you can get from Tower, but for the price range that you have, you're not going to get a lot nowadays. If you do find something on eBay or somewhere else, let us take a look at it. There is a lot of junk on there but some good buys also at times.
Avoid the ProBoat Miss Bud, they aren't made for any kind of waves, they're a calm water boat. When you say waves, how big are you talking? Saying waves, your best bet is a mono hulled boat.

What about BBY? Do they have anything that would work? As you have cars, you could get away with using one of your transmitters for the boat. Buying a couple of servos and receiver might be cheaper than buying a whole new radio, and easier than pulling them out of a car :)

yeah i was thining of that buy a RX and 2 servos and im done for.
When i say waves i mean just like 2-3 inch or so. BUT there is also this lake around here that is always like glass so maybe something for there but i dunno.
Can you tell me some info on the following
1) Nitro Hammer
2) Kyosho Blue Streak 800 GP
3) Kyosho GP Air Streak 500

which one of those would be best? Upgradable? Fast? Choppy water? And i really cant see the diff between the Blue streak and air streak can someone point out the diffs?

if you're also thinking about an electric boat, try the fuller's El Lobo 2. with a stock motor on 6 cells i've heard it will do mid 20's. but it can handle more power. i'm thinking about one myself later this year with an 8 cell brushless setup. you would probably have no problem getting one set up for under $400 (that's icluding a spare set of batt's or two and a good charger). i love dealing with the guys at climate and fuller's. here's a link to climate (they sell a lot of fuller's gear plus their own kits):

I would reccomend the Blue Streak. Not the fastest of the bunch, but probably the most able to handle rough water. The biggest difference between the Blue streak and the Air Streak is that the Air Streak is 25.6" long and the blue streak is 37.5" This makes a huge difference in wave handling ability. The Blue Streak could probably go in the 20's and handle 4" waves (someone correct me if I'm wrong), wheras the air streak could probably go a little faster, but only handle 1-2" waves. Good luck :D

so the air and blue are i guess the same boat just different dimensions then? And how does a hammer compare to the blue or air?

nitro hammers don't like waves that are much bigger than maybe 3-4 inches. and that's unmodified! if you play around and make it faster, it gets easier to flip. it can be a lot of fun to drive but sometimes it's a handful. but it's nothing that a bigger set of trim tabs won't fix!

so out of the 2 kyoshos and the hammer which would you say is the best all around boat?

also i seem to have found my lhs has alot of kyohso boats that i dont see on tower or even on the kyosho site. Are they really old or what cause they look pretty sweet here is a link. Now to get to the boats...Click R/C Boats on the left hand menu then,
Nitro boats and then tell me why these boats anrent anywere else?? Are they really old? help also all the prices are in canadian dollars.

I still think that out of those boats, the Blue Streak would be the best. Also, BoatDoc, there is NO WAY that a NH can handle 3-4" waves (at least not at full throttle) Mabye 2", but no more. (to give you an idea, the Enforcer Manta Ray, at 55" long, can only handle 5" waves) The Blue Streak would be the only real rough water boat of the bunch, at more than a foot longer than the others. Also, you might want to try the CEN boats(wave shark, aqua jet, grey thunder, etc.), but, they can't handle more than about 2-3" waves.

www.finedesignrc.com--- UFO or sidewinder boats. I have the Ufo which came in black. Mainly a 6 cell with a good handwound 13/3 and a 632 prop. Sidewinder is a 700-8.4 boat with 12-3300 and a 535 prop or a 637 prop. Ufo is 22" while Sidewinder is 26" in lenght. These are good bang for you dollar and will last a long time.
