I am interested in building a square-rigged r/c sailboat. Does anybody know of any kits available, or a reason why this kind of sails can't be used for r/c sailing?

Actuall, there is a company that sells full rigged warships. It was in the RCBM buyers guide edition. As I don't have the issue with me, I can't give any more info except these things are big(7 and 9 foot long), and can be controlled with four channel radio gear.

Finally found my buyer's guide for 2004. The square riggers are manufactured by Steel, Chapman & Hutchinson. Their website is modelsailingships.com and their phone number is 650-324-4344. The models shown are an 18 gun Royal Navy Brig and the 28 gun frigate HMS Surprise. They also have a model of an American Privateer from the War of 1812.

The problem as I understand it is the difficulty in weathering the sails for tacking, you do want it to come back to you. I've purchased the San Giovanni Batista (a galley)for my next project, but i've only looked in the box. I intend to try to figure it out myself if I don't find some help.
