....to idle, the engine revs up to a higher rpm and the savage begins to either move slowly (@ ~ 2mph) or it dies. Another thing I should include here is that I dont see smoke when it idles, and my HSN is set to 4.5.

Should I see smoke at idle?

Whats my problem? LSN to lean? LSN to rich?

No not really do you see smoke at idle. If the truck is moving at idle you have it to high. So adjust the idle screw so at FULL brake the engine doesnt cut out. Also you could be rich on the low end also. What are you running now?? Try leaning it 1/8 turn and see if that helps. Just fiddle with the adjustments in SMALL incriments and you should get it going

I just bought the SAvage 25RTR. My HSN is 4.5 and my LSN is at 3 now (factory). When I do the pich test the engine dies immediately--so I should richen the LSN, right.

Try richening the bottom end yes, as well as check your carb when you hit the brakes and release the trigger. I'd be willing to bet that your carb opens slightly. Might try pulling the throttle trim back toward the brake side just a smidgen.

OK thanks Eric I'll try that. Hopefully I can get this thing going today.

Thanks Eric. Your suggestions worked. After I got it running correctly I had to lean out the HSN also.

what does richening the bottom end mean? what is the bottom end? large screw to left, small screw in middle or little screw in end? when I hit the brakes it dies, what is pulling the throttle trim back toward the brake side? when I pull my brake back just to look at operation (while its dead) it hits the ez starter thingy...is the throttle set wrong?

sidewayz, check this image http://www.hpiracing.com/graphics/instr/s-25manual/inside.jpg

look at the carb image, the hsn (high speed needle) in letter a controls the top end and overall fuel going to the engine, the lsn (low speed needle) in letter b controls the low end, the idle screw in letter c controls the idle

to richen is to open the screw or to turn it counterclock wise, to lean it to screw in the screw or turn it clock wise

if your engine dies when you apply brakes the needle screw must not be adjusted properly, to raise the idle speed tight (clock wise) the screw

in the control there are small uummm round... things... i don't know the right word for them, these are to make adjustments known as trim adjustments, take a look at the pic http://www.hpiracing.com/graphics/instr/savage25/S25_P09.jpg where it says throttle/steering trim

hope this info helps you

Sure is. RC Nitro used to have a web-version of the article, but they closed it. Luckily, someone else hosted a site with the article.

That's wierd. I didn't know that even girls refer to their cars (and trucks) as females. Get her running. Or as Larry the Cable Guy says, GIT-R-DONE! http://www.favewavs.com/wavs/misc/gitrdone.wav
