Hey
Im planning on ordering the last part of my hybrid truck soon, the powerplant. Money was set to be a factor, and so nothing from Rb or high end OS could be considered. So its left me with the .26 outlaw. but...
I cant find them in stock anywhere. Earliest ive found is mid june for the wasp at tower for $174. Are there any other places that have them in stock? An is there any difference between the wasp picco and werks, aside from the side of the cooling head?
cheers

Hey
Thanks for the info on lightning. I believe they have the werks and the picco in stock. Is there any difference between the two? or are they in fact identical?

the only difference between the wasp(sivler head) werks(blue head) and the picco(pink head) are the head colors and that they are badge differently, all of them should make the same kind of power..

If all goes well ill order engine tomorrow (12 hours time) from lighting. The werks (blue) one seems to be the way forward. The wasp (my first choice) was out of stock, so didnt go on that.
Unless.
Lightning also have the Fantom FR .27... how does that compare? similar price really, and a slightly bigger displacement.

I am not sure how the fantom 27 compares to the 26s really, i have never seen one run. but i am going to guess the peroformance is about the same if not better, i have seen one, but just out of the box, lookes like a really good engine, also has really good compression.

its 30 usd more... i dont know if i can really see it being worth the money unless it is THAT much better. Plus i dont think im going to be hauling around alot of weight... i wont need 'that' much torque. A good balance between torque and top end would be good.
Does anyone run the ofna hyper 8 port?

im running the ofna picco .26 i got it from rcboyz on ebay for 164.99 i also got a clutchbell and shipping, final cost was 189 something. i found it for 154.99 but i dont remember where. this was the pull start model. the picco .26, the ofna picco and the wasp.26 are all the same engines... just different head colors. anyway i love the engine. running it in an MGT and the truck just rips.

Well
I ordered the picco .26 this evening. I would have got the werks but lightning didnt accept UK credit cards. Rcboyz it was then, used them in the past and they were very excellent.
Will keep you posted as to how it all goes.

I have seen the hyper 8 port go. and have tuned on it too, its a rather pesky little engine. great for a light weight buggy, but not the best idea for a monster truck. hyper 8 port engine is mostly top end power, and if your the man with the tuning needle then you can realley get it to scream.
I have the picco werks .26 P3 Monster engine in my associated monster gt. it has tons of torque and verry nice top end too. I can do wheelys all day long running 17/52 gearing on it and im running about 45-50 mph.
picco werks was ok breaking in, after babying the first gallon, I realley have one wicked engine in my truck.
I hear good stuff about xtm 247 and also dynamite .26 too.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Well after much correspondance it seems that this deal from RCBoyz wont go through after all. I had planend on shipping to the US, but as i am a british resident the wouldnt accept credit card, even with a faxed copy of the card and passport. This is very irritating, considering other hobby shops in the US such as Horizion and Tower will accept this.
So where does this leave me now? Well i think ebay. Unfortunately i hadnt planned on doing this with the funds in my paypal account, so ill have to organise something. Ive been looking around, and will probably end up with the Fantom Fr27 unless anyone has anything bad to say about it. Its only about 10 usd cheaper and that sounds like a pretty sweet deal. Wasp too are releasing a .28 soon, but at 195 i dont think i can justify; that and the fact it wont be available for another month or so.
Will keep you posted. LRMTX, did you get your werks?
rich.

Muwahahaha
Ordered the fantom today. I did some research on Rc universe and savage central, they seem to rate it quite high. $174 usd, seems like a decent price.
Ill keep you informed as and when it arrives.
