Ok again I'm looking into an MGT, I've been quite hesitant in buy a monster truck, mainly because they seem to be money pits.

I would only be bashing, so if I were to get one I'd plan on a full rollcage, just for saftey. What are the best rollcages out on the market?
So far I'm looking at the rc-solutions rollcage (http://rc-solutions.com/products/product_details.php?id=34&CID=TEAM%20ASSOCIATED) or the new era rollcage (http://www.neweramodels.com/cgi-bin/item.cgi?session_id=&part_id=1987) both look good, though I like the look of the rc-solutions one better. Recommendations?

What other hopups have you guys found necessary (no eye candy, just because you had extra cash, etc.). I'm looking to keep this as stock as I can, so the engine is staying, as well as the tires, etc. If the radio is an issue, thats fine because I have a JR XR3i that I can use.

Other hopups I've been looking into are:
RPM parts (cheap, light and durable+ breakage guarentee, strong preference over aluminum)
Servo?
Aluminum shock caps (to get rid of the dorky faux-reservoirs)

anything else to consider? I was thinking if I need to replace the shocks, I want to get shocks as beefy as possible (like 3.5 mm shafts, etc.)

I would say to go with the rc solutions rollcage because to me, it looks a whole lot stronger and it looks like it could take a lot more also, but that's just me.

Hop-ups to consider....

Aluminum shock caps and bodies or a new stronger shock set- The stock ones seem to be a bit weak after awhile from them popping off all the time

Rpm arms- very durable material that are stronger and more flexible than the stock arms that will not have any kind of breakage

Forward only- I bought one and it was one of best investments I made on the truck. Took off approximatly 1/2lb from the reverse and servo being taken off. Will make a noticable change in acceleration and handling

As for the radio I would use the JR XR3i over the stock Ace Jaguar radio any day. To help increase handling I would look into the hitec 645mg servo and rechargable receiver pack. This will provide more power to the servo which then provides quicker and more responsive handling.

These are just a few upgrades to get you started. It will help performance and at the same time keep close to the stock weight....

Also the upper a-arm mounts bend easy so a spare pack of them. The bumper supports and front skids also.

$20 bucks total :)

Be sure you seal the engine as well. Seems the back plate and carb pinchbolts are the culprits.

rcracer what shocks have u heard is good? I would like to get some good ones as my next major purchase for the MGT. I like the looks of the Integy, I read the AE upgrades are not as good.

Those are exactly what I got. The integy aluminum shocks. To be even more specific I got the Tmaxx version so I could save myself some money. There basically the same size as the mgt (100mm) Made a difference in suspension and no more shock caps popping off. As for the AE factory team parts there decent quaility but could be better.....
