just picked up a .15 maxx. Haven't even gotten it yet but I plan on puting in a bigger motor. Do you guys reccomend the trx.25, or should I go with something like an OS .21? What else will I need to change? THX

you could get a sirio tx-18 for the origanal maxx. this is a bigger block moter that you can get without a conversion kit.

I found a sirio .18 on Tower that they call the 'original' version, does this mean the original max? They don't specify in the description, but they offer another one specifically for the 2.5 maxx. Here is a link to the original

what is involved with a .25 swap? Motor mounts, chassis plate?

It's for the original t-maxx and you can get the XTM kit for the 2.5 for $120 at stormer hobbies.

any opinions on the Sirio .18? I just use it for bashing, and race it occasionally.

I just got the Sirio .18 for my maxx. It made a huge difference. Alot more power than my old 2.5, and it can run non-stop for a whole tank
I would definately recommend the .18 :D
My only problem was that it was the same price as the mid-block picco. I went for this because the piccos were recalled and I didnt want to spend another $300 getting the driveline up to snuff. :D
The "original" Sirio .18 will fit, but you need to work out a new linkage setup.

Good luck

I don't know if you can get a .25 in there with no custom work, no company really made a conversion kit for that size. but lot's of conversion kits are there for .21 size engines, and trust me, it's more then enough power.

you need a new chassis, motor mount, chassis braces, driveshafts/cvd's, fuel tank, new body, and probebly some other stuff I forgot.

who makes a conversion to put a .21 in the .15 maxx?

.25 is the same block size as a .21 or .26 or whatever.
As far as the sirio engine for original tmaxx, it's a rear exhaust rotary carb, but it comes with a manifold so it will fit without modifications.
I would not reccomend a .21 or .26 conversion because of the fact that you will be breaking everything in the tranny left and right. Even if you're not overly "hard" on the truck, the engine will be. It's just too much for the poor maxx trucks to take without some serious transmission reworking.

How about the new OS .18 CVR motor?

It depends on how much you want to spend.

You will have to do a conversion to run the 2.5 or Sirio or whatever and you will have more speed and hp than the .15.
But for the money I would get the XTM conversion for $89 and 24.7 engine for $129. It will give you all the power you will ever want, but make sure you have some more money for upgrades cause after the 24.7 gets broke in it will start breaking the weak links of the Maxx.
First be happy with your .15 and learn how to drive with it. I would be surprised if you don't crash it even though it will be relatively slow.
Good purchase !!

I've decided to go with the trx .25 and the conversion kit from traxxas. Gonna run me about 135$. Once I get the truck hopped up to handle the power of a bigger motor, I'll put a real engine on there. Thanks for all your help
