I have a 645MG on my T-quake, and I'm still not happy with the performance. I want to upgrade, and keep it under $50.

The stock Mammoth servo looks like it would be an upgrade, but I haven't seen anyone run one for some reason.

I was also thinking about going with a 1/4 scale servo.

My buddy had the stock Mammoth Steering servo and he said it had the torque to turn the wheels but no holding power what so ever. I have the Hitec 5645mg which is alittle more like $55-$60. It is digital and very strong. Take a look at that one.

JR just made a new servo that has 150oz/in of torque and a .17sec. transit time and it only costs 50$. It is definetly gonna be my next servo(currently have hitec 645mg). I'm sorry but i can't remember the name to it, i think its something like JR650z.

EDIT: Found it. Its called a JR Z650.

Specs:
Torque: 142 oz in @ 6V
Speed: .17 sec/60 degrees @ 6V
Dimensions: 1.46 x 1.55 x 0.73 in (37.1 x 39.4 x 18.5mm)
Weight: 1.6 oz (45.4 g)
Bearing: Single
Motor Type: Cored
Gears: Metal

It is 49.99.

Look at the airtronics 94358z as it has 160@4.8 & 200@6v and I'm using one on my savage. It will turn the tires standing still whereas my hitec wouldn't and you don't have to run 5 cells to get good performance.

THe hitec 705 is your next choice for the price It has 190 oz @ 5 cells but the size is bigger. If you can make it fit go for it.

Too bad the airtronics 94358z is pretty much twice the price of the JR Z650, depending on where you get it from of course.

I will definitely look into those servos you guys recommended, except that airtronics. It is way out of my price range.

mbbaj2001: I was looking into those 1/4 scales. I don't think I would have any problems getting one to fit. I did notice that the current draw was about double for the 705 as apposed to the 645.

Are there any other drawbacks to the 1/4 besides current draw and size? I don't think breakage would be a problem on my truck.

EDIT: I was looking at the 805, but the current draw for that thing is huge, about 10 times a standard servo with no load.

you may check hi-tec 945, as i know its strongest non digital servo by hi-tec, and if you need more holding power than definitely go digital, they offer about twice, or even more holding power!!
