I'm looking into buy one of these 2 beasts, I'm fairly confused which one is best and what to buy though.. I want a good Rock crawler that can handle a good beating. Some opinions will be appreciated anyways the real question is.. I read in another thread that the TXT-1 doesn't handle brushless to well... I'm wondering if you guys can confirm if that is true and also can you tell me if it is the same case with the Clod?

I think a TXT-1 would be better if you are not looking into investing alot of money to get it to it's full potential.
The Clod has more aftermarket support, but has less potential out of the box.
I do not see why the TXT-1 could handle a brushless any less than a Clod.

brushless is not good for crawling cause i think you dont have brake there, so its better to go with conventional brushed setup. And if you think about it, i was in same situation some time ago, went with TXT and im happy as a punch

the problem with brushless is that they don't like to run slow. i think the term is cogging. rock crawling is probably the only place where brushed motors are better. personally, i don't think there is a better rock crawler than a clod. the motors are on the axles. a lot of unsprung weight, but you have the lowest cg imaginable; and you aren't going fast anyway. also, articulation isn't hindered by any driveshafts, so they are simpler to build. if you are a skilled fabricator, a crawler can be built cheaply. all you need are mabuchi motors (again, torque, not speed) and a moderate esc (although i'd use a super rooster anyway). if you don't know how to build what you want, then you're gonna be spending some coin. you may want to look into checking e-bay for something already built. i recently gave away my $1,000 clodzilla 2 roller with a body, motors, batteries, and a super rooster for $250. it happens.

It just shows you that you buy and build these RC MTs not to sell but for your enjoyment. Yup it does happen, spend a ton and sell it for a fraction.
I want to get me a NIB clod soon.

there's a million of them out there. probably not the best investment

I don't think people buy these as an investment..
Even buying a real car, some people think its an investment but for the most part buying a car is not an investment. (After it goes off the lot, it loses value...heh.. Investment? Not really)

If you want a rock Crawler, why are you considering a brushless? They are for pure speed and power. Rock Crawling is slow and lots of torque.
Here is my Project Orion TXT-1.

Overall there are positives and negatives to getting either the clod or the TXT-1 but for the most part the Clod has a lower CG which will a bit better in rock crawling. Tho I really like the realism of driveshafts, center tranny and etc on the TXT-1. I do have two TXT-1s but I really want to buy me a clod soon.
I have seen a brushless clod (3 axled monster clod, Weeb's mutant clod) and a few brushless TXT-1s. Very cool and they seem to run great from the projects I seen.
Tho I do have a Juggernaut 2 project going on. I am still debating if I should put build up pics on RCCA, tho I do have a few threads on other forums.

i think that clod has more potential, but out of the box TXT would be better,

i've seen some AWESOME txt1s on the unmentionable mt site. one had side plates cut out with a superman logo. i'm no fan of the man from krypton, but it is a very nice chassis. i agree with you about the realism of the txt1.

I think this site could use a nice Juggy (Jugg2/TXT-1"Jugg3") build up or two.
A refreshing view of something different than your avg MTs out there that is not your common MT Maxx/Savage/Cen/XTM/Duratrax/Associated/Ofna and etc that is talked about most of the time on here.
Tho that build of that sweet looking "Bladerunner" clod by Unruly is awesome.
