Screw driver and Trinity aluminum pinion gears, the BAJA will eat the Losi plastic gears for lunch.

The Baja uses smaller pinions right? It wont fit with the pinion I have, I guess Ill get another spur.
What is the function of the fourth wire on the stock servo?
And what size are the wheel nuts? I cant find anything that fits them.

it will not eat them. I had a baja & used my stock gear. You just need to have the correct gear mesh. alum just slows it down from the weight. Be sure to use a drop of CA glue to keep the pinion on the motor shaft.

the electronics for the servo are in the ESC/RX combo & the 4th wire is connected to it.

I have the Futaba MC230CR that I like a lot. I am going to try dropping it in my Mini-T this winter, when I get a standard servo for it. The 230CR is as small or smaller then most 'mini' ESCs, and should handle just about any motor you can bolt into the truck.
Just replace that switch: It's almost as big as the ESC.

DOn't get the Baja. For the money it's not that great!!!! Get Scorpion for $25 and it's way faster than the Baja! I have seen 4 Baja's burn out before my 1 scorpion. There is also a pirahana motor that is rebuildable.
I also run a 7 cell and 8 cell pack and it's crazy fast!! With stock electronics. I've been pondering new electronics myself. Great idea, I have a Futaba ESC too....I might have to try that.

how many cells you run also determines how fast a motor goes also. Who makes the scorpion. I've been thinking about the mamba brushless, but for $25 I may have to get that motor.

It's faster but not as fast as i had hope.. I'm planning to pick up a 17 tooth later today.. Has anyone had a chance to test out a bunch of ratio's w/ the mamba??

The stock pinion is 14T.
For the battery, I like getting those weatherstripping foam things at the car store. They are adhesive on one side so it's pretty easy to just cut what you need.

You can also use servo tape and just leave on the paper, or put some tape on the sticky side not on the pack. Or use some adhesive-backed foam in the airplane section.

If you're on those surfaces, why not go up to 50-80wt! While running on an Ozite covered table we had at work for these truck, I had 80wt and the truck ran really well like that. I had originaly tried 25wt but the thing still bottomed out alot, so I tried some 80wt I had laying around one night, and it worked beautifully the next afternoon in that table, especially when combined with knobbies all the way around.

Hey guys...need some help here! Tired of blowing out Mini-T steering servos...and I'm not real fond of the Receiver ESC combo that comes with the "T" either. So I ripped out the electronics and the servo. I've got receiver and fwd/brake ESC that will definitely fit on the "T" with no problems. The steering servo is my big issue. I've got HiTec HS-81 and 85 micro servos, but they won't fit without cutting out the cross brace in front of the battery. I could do that, but I fear all the extra flex that would induce in the chassis. I could install the other radio equipment and keep the stock steering servo, except its connector won't fit in a standard receiver and it's got 4 wires instead of the normal 3. So what the h**l should I do? Is there an aftermarket 3-wire micro servo on the market that will fit the "T" without chopping up the frame? And what the heck is that 4th wire for on the stock "T" servo anyway? If anybody has suggestions...drop me a PM. No need to clutter up this forum.
TY and have a good weekend,

Hey everyone, I just received a mini-t for christmas and along with it, bearings and the team losi oil shocks. I filled the front shocks with 20wt. oil and i fillled the rear ones with 30wt. oil. But the springs seem way too soft. The rear (and front) sags down to ground. The rear ones came with silver springs and the front ones came with pink ones. What springs should i use for optimal performance for bashing around (a little jumping too)?
Thnx in advance.

Man, this thing keeps breaking. It seems like everytime I run it something breaks. I was running it for the first time in awhile just a sec ago and I pretty sure I tore out the tranny. It makes crunching sounds when I accelerate. I wasn't doing anything unusual either. I wasn't reversing, then accel or anything.
Oh well, it will be sitting around for a long time b/c the screws in that hold the tranny to the chassis are stripped so I would need to do some cutting and get a new chassis & screw set.
I've broken a front shock tower, rear hub carrier, front turnbuckle, body clip attachments, tranny, and a servo after probably < 3 hours runtime, lol.

The RPM Wide bumper is the first upgrade you should make in my opinion.
Losi Stealth
12-30-2004, 08:29 PM
Micro RS4 plugs are exactly the same. In order of importance, I think the bearings and batteries should be the first upgrades. The bearings greatly improve speeds, even with four AAs. The battery also improves this, but wears out the bushings pretty quick. Haven't gotten the shocks yet, but they are next on my list.
I had the RPM bumper for my Rustler. Its a good upgrade, but i wouldn't put it at the top of the list on my mini-t. My problem with the original Rustler bumper was that it was too big and broke too easily. The RPM bumpers won't break.

I have 3 Mini T's and all have shown up with the same problem. These were bought at differing times over 2 months (November to mid December) and from different LHS's.
The servos work sometimes and at other times they wont work. In one car it is most of the time that it doesn't work. In the other two it is ocassionaly. The throttle works fine in fwd and rev.
The servo will return to center when the TX is switched off, as it is supposed to. On 1 of the T's the servo shuts down and the steering is put into a full right position. The others stay at center when they shut down.
None of them can be trusted to use as they will go out of control without warning.
I thought I'd found what the problem was but alas it was not to be. I checked the TX's battery pack on the worst one (the green light was showing it to be at an acceptable voltage level) and it was at 10.25 vdc. One of the others was at 11.49 vdc. I installed 8 new AA's and the voltage reading was at 12.9 vdc. The worst "T" of the 3 went back to working but not for long.
I've not read of anyone reporting this problem in this forum and only a few times in the one18th.com forum.

First off they had never heard of this problem. (I find this hard to believe)

Here are some steps I took when the problem first occured.
Well the first thought was that the plug had just gotten loose. So I unpluged it and plugged it back in. That didnt help.
Now I thought that maybe somehow the Trinity motor was causing the problem by the way of some kind of weird interference. I switched back to the stock motor, and of course no soloution found.
Just recently I thought maybe Losi orders their pager motors/ servo motor from different vendors and some vendors has motor that cant withstand the power of 7.2 volts. Although that was ruled out quickly because the motor still had power to it sometimes. So that leads to the circuit board of the servo or the Rx.
Now for some thought. On other forums people say fix this problem by switching to after market servos. So people take Hs55 and convert them to the four plug setup using the Losi servos circuit board. Now that leads to the point that that would not fix anything if it is the Losi circuit board. But it is said that after the conversion there is no problems. This does not make sense because it is still the Losi components, just a different pot. and motor. Unless the problem occurs in the pot. After all isnt the pot. what tells the motor to stop when the gears turn so far one way or the other.
Well I hope this will eventually help solve the problem. I did research and many others have the same problem. Also correct me if Im wrong about the function of the pot.

First of all...where do I get JB Weld at? Local Hardware Store? Menards? Is there a site that has a walk through of what you need to do to lock the diff?
Thanks guys,

Well I was searching the boards, and have read that people use Silly Putty to lock diffs sometimes too. Does that work as well as JB Weld? And again, how would I lock it using this?

Thomas B. I went thru the same steps in nearly the same sequence. However I didn't think of the pot. By the way I think your description of the pot's function is correct.
Now that the pot is in the equation and given the fact that the problem just doesn't appear all at once but is a gradual loss of function to the point of ceasing altogether it gives us one more thing to check. ie. that is to dismantle the servo and clean the pot and motor with circuit cleaner and then check out the system.
I'll not be able to get to this until probably this weekend but when I do I'll report on it's success or failure.
Many thanks on your well thought out troubleshooting comments.
I hope it does work as I had come home tonight and had made my mind up to buy 1) a HiTec TX 2) a HiTec HS55mb or HS85mb servo 3) a LRP or Novak Receiver and 4) a Novak Spy ESC. I was going to assemble 1 surface pack that I'd transfer from the Offroad "T" to the Carpet "T" and back depending where I'd be racing.

i used CA glue on my stock diff when the torque front the motor broke the thing the drive axels go into
if you want to lock a ball diff use tight the screw thats on the left or right side of the diff cups

I tighted that screw as much as I could, and it was still slipping. When I hold my car down and peg the throttle, it squeals like no other. I thought for sure this was the diff.
My slipper is tightened as much as possible too...

I was able to get to the servo this am. After removing the servo case top and bottom I checked to insure there was no binding in the gear train and there was none. I then filled the servo cavity with electronic cleaner. I let it soak for a few minutes and then dumped the cleaner out.
Connected everything up and at first it wouldn't work then after a bit it began to work and before long it was back to a quick response with no interuptions.
Right now I'd say it's fixed but only time will tell.
While I've got it apart I plan to make a brass bushing for the output gear shaft as there is too much play in the unit which adds to the overall sloppy steering.

I have been trying to post on here for three days now. My stupid computer wouldn't let me post anything.
Makarov, Im glad to hear you got you servo working. I too have noticed that the main output shaft has too much play in it.
Well my mom came home from work (she is an electrical engineer) and I told her about my theory on the pot. I told her about the after market servos and the switch of the boards. So she wanted to look at the Losi servo and the aftermarket servo I had (GWS servo) for comparison. So I took them both apart. We examined the servos and tried to figure out what was wrong and why switching the circuit boards would work. So we couldn’t figure out anything that was visibly wrong with the Losi servo. She decided she would bring her meter home to check the circuit.
Thomas B.

Now for the solution part. I was in the process of putting the Losi servo back together. When you do this you have to plug the servo into the car. Turn on the power of the car so that the motor will have power to it. Now put on all the gears except the smallest gear that touches the gear of the motor. Now you adjust the pot. by turning the gear that the control horn goes on in either direction until the motor stops running. Then put on the littlest gear and put on the top case and screw it all together.
I have a theory of how this happened. The servo saver is the culprit. So it is more of a mechanical thing rather than an electronic problem. I think that the servo saver made the gear on the pot. skip a tooth and put the pot. in a different position so that the motor would try to keep running. Also another factor that contributed to why the servo stopped working correctly is the fact that the gear that the control horn hooks to and the top case of the servo does not produce a tight fit here. So there is a lot of slop on the pot. shaft and the gear would move into a different position in the right conditions (hitting things and the servo saver messing up). The pot. is a very touchy piece of equipment so personally I think it makes sense.
Also if you think about it if you put the Losi circuit board in another servo (Hs55 or other) the servo is of better quality and may not skip teeth as easy as the Losi servo.
Thomas B.
01-06-2005, 06:44 PM
Now this is how I fixed my particular problem. Even though other problems may sound the same they may not be. Although I would try this out if you have a similar steering problem as I did. I really do hope this helps because everywhere I looked on how to fix it was to get a new servo or an aftermarket one. In my opinion, I think an aftermarket servo would be a good thing to invest in. The Losi servo and servo saver just lack good quality and have some kind of design flaws.
In the long run if the car is ran hard you will probably have to adjust the servo every so often until a better servo saver is made or a better servo altogether.
Also it would be cool if my solution works for this problem on most Mini Ts with it because I don’t think too many people think a 16 year old could figure this out lol  Sorry I have to post this reply in more than one post. I cant post something real long for some reason

Castle Creations makes the Mamba. Here's a link to their site: http://www.castlecreations.com/ I bought mine from Bishop Power Products: http://www.b-p-p.com/mini-tpage.htm When upgrading to brushless, you need a new Servo and Reciever. I went with the Airtonics Mini Servo (94something I believe) and the Novak XXL Receiver.
You'll also want new batteries, because the brushless won't run that long on AA's. I went with BlindBatts.com and got 6-cell 1100 mAh GP cells. They work wonders for me...

Yeah I run the 8000kv Mamba in my Mini-T with 8-cell GP1100 packs. Insanely fast. However, beware that traction won't be that good with a setup like I have. I usually switch to a 6-cell pack, stock gearing, and normal/low timings on the ESC to make it worthwhile.

I just got my Mini-T last night. Couple things I noticed were that the steering was very sloppy. Particularly the right wheel. Seems like the plastic bushing might have something to do with it (so I'm getting bearings) but most of it seems to be associated with the steering assembly and the C-Hubs. I'm thinking of getting some GPM alloy replacement parts for those. Anyone have any thoughts on those parts?
I also need new shocks as the springs that came it are pretty cheesy. Seems like from what I've read people have been having leaking problems with many of the different aftermarket oil shocks. Are the GPM or Losi shocks worth the money? And which have threaded bodies?
Also appears that I need new batteries or a 5 cell battery pack as the four AA I put in it were pretty doggy. Top speed of maybe 5 mph with the NiMH rechargeables I put in it last night.

OK, I recharged the 2000mA NiMH batteries again and this time the power was much improved. At least twice as fast as before. So that's a good sign. I nice 6 cell pack would really make this rip I bet.

OK guys can you tell me if I fried my ESC? I was driving the T, and the motor just stopped working, this was my 2nd T i had that did it. SOOO I thought it was the motor. I bought an Orion Core motor, put new plugs on the wires from the ESC going to the motor and the ones on the motor (Micro Deans). Turns out when I was soldering, I hit the wires from the ESC going to the battery, and melted them together, pretty close to the plug. BUT I plugged my battery in and turned it on before I noticed this. The battery got extremely hot, and I couldnt figure out what was wrong, then I noticed the wires were messed up. I unplugged the batt and turned the T off, pulled the wires apart, and tried it again. The batt still got really hot, so I gave up. I think that the ESC was already messed up or faulty, then I shorted the battery out when the plugs were messed up. But the weird thing is, the battery was still powering the steering, so I dont think the battery is completley ruined. Sorry for the confusing post lol, I just want to get this thing fixed, its been apart for like 5 monthes and yesterday I just got the stuff to fix it, and it still doesnt work :(

Anyone wanting to get better motors, go with Trinity Mini Machines. From what I hear, they are way better than even the Baja. Less money too, $25 or something at eHobbies.com. They go down to 19 turns. I have the 20 turn, Mass Termination.

Those are GPM shocks in there and they work like a charm. No leaks whatsover. But you need to be real careful not to over tighten the caps. If you do, the ring seal will blow out and the shocks will leak. They just need to be snug.
I can't stress enough how much an improvement the shocks make. The stock springs are total junk. This baby is so responsive and jumps really well now too. It's just amazing.

The ad on RC Car Action says that the Monster Termination (19 turn) needs an aftermarket speedo, so I don't know. I overheated my Mass Term. mod motor, and blew one of the armature wires, then didn't tighten the timing screw enough and lost one, so it falls apart. I don't know how hard it will be to get replacements, so I might just get the hotter motor, take it easy, and if the ESC/RX blows, it's an excuse to convince my parents to help (w/ money) me upgrade them. ;)

Hi All,
I just got my new Mini T on Friday and have been running it all weekend. This thing is really cool (and that's coming from a 40 year old guy) :D
I'm wanting an LST eventually, but wanted to see if this would keep my interest long enough to justify the big $$ of a nitro truck. I had an RC10GT, a few years ago and by the time I finished putting it together, and blowing the motor on the first startup (totally my fault), I never wanted to see that thing again.
I love the Mini T so far, but am having a problem with the ESC. I ran it most of the weekend, in the house, chasing the cats around. :D But I couldn't wait to take it outside and drive it a bit. That trip lasted about 2 minutes. It was wet outside and I wasn't watching where I was going and went through a little puddle of water. The ESC got water inside, so I took it apart and used compressed air and a hair dryer to dry it out. The truck runs now, and everything seems to be okay, except that when I put it in reverse, there is a 2-3 second lag time before it starts moving. Is that normal? I don't seem to remember it doing that before it got wet.
I'm also having the same issues as many others with the front ball cups not wanting to stay on, but have read the numerous threads about that and will be getting those upgraded before anything else. I do have one other question about the balls though. What size wrench will I need to screw them in? It is so tiny, I barely realized that it takes a hex wrench to unscrew them.
Thanks,
Scott

I don't seem to remember it doing that before it got wet.
I'm also having the same issues as many others with the front ball cups not wanting to stay on, but have read the numerous threads about that and will be getting those upgraded before anything else. I do have one other question about the balls though. What size wrench will I need to screw them in? It is so tiny, I barely realized that it takes a hex wrench to unscrew them.
Thanks,
Scott

Hi All,
I just got my new Mini T on Friday and have been running it all weekend.
I believe they are 0.050" hex. If you plan on making mods or doing even a little amount of wrenching I would suggest getting a 0.050" hex driver; much easier to use. Otherwise head to the hardware store and pick up about 3 packs of the 0.050" allen wrenches, they can bend/break very easily. (the Craftsman ones are only ~$1.50 and include a 1/16th as well)

losi racer13 i bought the "wild" for my mini-t used it will 6 cell losi pack and it wasnt really any faster than stock so i got the mamba 6800 and three cell lipos. but im sure with lipos you see better results with the "wild" there are better motors out there for a little more $$$.

I too bought the wild and was not impressed, so I went with the ($10) Venom 370 mod motor, and boy does it run!! I just dropped the pinion from the 14 tooth that it comes with down to a 11 tooth, The problem that I was then having; was the the power was being transferred to one wheel and it would cause the mini-t to pull hard in one direction or the other. I fixed this by putting tooth paste in the stock gear diff. It sounds wachy but it fixed the problem. I would have used fluids of different weights but the way the stock unit is designed; it would all leak out. So I tried grease and this just made the power delivery even worse. Tooth paste is thicker and holds in place much better!!!

I have a few of questions and wonder if you guys might know the answers?
1. I changed to bearings in the Mini T last night and it made a huge improvement in the performance, but I noticed that the wheels that came with it seem to be out of round or wobbly, is that normal for the factory wheels to be like that? It's almost like the holes are too big for the shaft that they ride on and one of the others seems like they didn't drill the hole straight through the wheel.
2. Is the steering sloppy on all of them? The steering block (I think that's what it's called) seems to have quite a bit of excess play in it. I tried tightening the screws to see if maybe they were just loose, but no luck. Is there a way to take some of the play out, so that the wheels stay aligned?
3. On the factory motor, when I roll it by hand, there seems to be almost like indents (for lack of a better way of putting it), in the way the motor spins. Is that the way all r/c motors are? I've rolled electric motors before and they all seem to roll very smoothly, but the one on the Mini T seems to have sort of a jerky motion to it. I'm not sure if it does it when it is energized or not, but it does seem to have a loud, almost whining sound to it.
Thanks,
Scott

the fit and finish of the mini has always been a issue with me ive noticed play and slop in alot of the areas within the stock setup. CAW makes custom parts for R/C's and i have heard and seen nothing but good things about the fit and finish to me upgrading is the only way to ensure a good tight fit and feel within the ride

I've been slowing getting the slop out of the steering with alloy upgrades. I new Steering assembly by GPM helped get out a lot of the excess toe movement (side to side). I'm awaiting new alloy knuckles now to try and get some of the camber movement (up and down).

The jerky roll is normal. The loud, whining noise is pretty normal also. Loosening up the gear mesh will quiet it a little, I would just use the piece of paper mesh though.

losi racer,
I have the Baja and I think it's very good. I haven't used or seen the raider run so I can't compare them. If you get the baja you will need a metal pinion. you'll strip out the stock plastic pinion within 1 sec (not exagerating) I think I am running a 12T now. You probably will also want to look into a ball diff. I was able to run my baja for quite a while with the stock tranny, but it finally went about a week ago, too lazy to fix it yet, lol.

if you want good stock performance the rc18t is great right out of the box but if your anything like me and enjoy customizing your ride nothing beats the mini-t. out of the box the mini-t leaves alot to be desired but there are hop-up parts galore and now a new mini-t pro with oil filled shocks and no electronics. one big downfall for the rc18t is the spur/pinion setup they are exposed rocks and pebbles can lodge in them and stop you in your tracks. it just depends on what your looking for if you dont see yourself upgrading your ride go with the 18t but if you want options and enjoy tinkering with your ride and are looking for more top speed with aftermarket motors the mini-t is a blast.

Got a couple of questions about tires/wheels.
1. How hard is it to glue tires on the wheels? I haven't done it in years, but it seems like I was never very good that keeping the glue off the wheels.
2. Is there a good tire for loose dirt, that is bigger than the stock tires?
3. Will putting bigger wheels/tires hurt the steering servo or suspension parts?
I just bought a new steering servo after a week of use, and am a bit skittish about it going out again. $13 a week for parts is a bit much, so I'm hoping that the new servo lasts a bit longer.
I also bought a Dynamite aluminum steering set, so hopefully that will take some of the slop out of the steering and make is track straight and return to center when released.
I'm off to a new (well, new to me) indoor dirt track tonight, to watch some guys practice. Check out their site www.dbrrc.com, it just came online a couple of days ago.

1. aluminum front hub carriers and steering arms help, I've heard. I haven't used them myself though.
2. ball diff has, well balls in the diff as opposed to the stock diff which has spider gears. The ball diff will run smoother and work much better with a more powerful motor, as in it won't strip out like the stock diff. I am going to order a ball diff soon b/c I stripped out the stock one with my baja.
3. What kind of gears? spur? pinion? tranny? everything? The only one I know is the pinion, I have a 12T HPI pinion that I use. It's probably undergeared a little, but it was on the only one my lhs had and I was anxious to run the car since the baja stripped out the stock pinion in less than 1 second, no joke. I'm sure someone makes a metal or kevlar spur, I'm not sure about tranny gears though.

Mine makes a lot of noise from the spur/pinion. I reset it and it makes less, but it definately doesn't sound clean.
This week, my ball diff, oil shocks, bearings, turnbuckles and cvds should arrive. I'll be picking up a set of KAN 1050's and make up some new batts.
Then, from Friday onwards, I can look forward to my Mamba 8k arriving. Oh, and my complete Fullforce super combo kit should be arriving at the same time too.

I also had it break off while I was running it in the house last week.
Is there solution to this?
Can a regular antenna tube from a full sized buggy fit on it?
I seem to remember someone posting something about using a fuel tube, but I can't find the post. Wouldn't fuel tubing bend down behind the car while it's running and lose reception?
Thanks,

well, I figured out my problem. Apparently I blew the esc and the reciever which really sucked. So, I was thinking and looking through my old rc stuff and I found a novak 410-mxc high frequency esc. This esc was brought out in the early 90's and it can handle any motor with any amount of turns, so it was a bit overkill for what I had in my mini t. With the esc I found an old futaba servo and reciever and I decided to hack up my mini t and install these components (sounds crazy eh). Take a look at the pictures enclosed!
Turns out the mini t has doubled in speed, which is weird because it has also doubled in weight??????

My Mini-T's got:
Ball Bearings
Losi Oil Shocks
RPM Bumper
BRP Turnbuckles
Airtonics Servo Saver
Airtonics Servo (can't remember the number)
Novak XXL 75 MHZ RX
Mamba 8000 Brushless

I do have a problem with the Diff though. With the Mamba and the GP's, no matter how tight I make the diff, it slips like no other. I really don't want to lock the aftermarket diff, but I don't know what else to do. I can't punch it. If I don't lay on it EXTREMELY SLOWLY, it slips and I have no acceleration. Which is very frusterating. My cousin's got a stock mini, and he can beat me off the line because of this. Any help is appreicated...an email would be super!

you can always flip the diff rings around and have a second chance to get it right.

i want to get the mamba 8000kv. because i just ran my friends 18t with it and 7 cell gp's and it hauls. does anyone know if i would have problems with spinning out or it all depends on tire choice, also can u stop the wheelies? i was thinking gearing it higher

where can i get a good non lipoly pack for my mamba setup? T

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure you can mess with the powerband with the 8000. Give it less low-end and more top-end. I'm at college right now without my Mini, but from what I remember you can calibrate it to give less low end.
And htxrevo, I got two 6-cell 1100 mAh packs from Blindbatts.com, and love them. But I got those a while ago, and I'm sure there are other good packs out there...

I actually swapped out for the stock diff, and it seems to be working well. I'm at college, so my RC stuff is taking a back seat to studying. This summer I hope to get all the kinks worked out (and go all AL) and bring it to college next fall...
Thanks for the tip though!

try the beast raptor motor or the orion baja & some GP packs from cheapbatterys.com
use 2 seals & don't crank them down too tight, remeber they are plastic.

its your diff. get a ball diff and tighten it down really tight but loose enough to barely spin the tiress opposite ways. i did it after going through a ball diff once and since i tightend it down alot im having no problems but make sure you get a dd slipper. they help alot.

best envestment would be to get new electronics in it. the stock ones suck. your going to have to keep replacing stock servos if u keep the stock, i went with a JR r125 reciever and a novak xrs esc, also i use a hs 55 servo...they have lots of speed but missing torque

i've got the EVO kit in my Mini-t... no real worries, just no instructions, if your interested in them, haha... it all looks nice, its just my front shock tower was a little bit hard to mount, and so was the bulkhead thing... i just drilled out the threads for the bulkhead to make it fit easier... but overall, it looks nice... there are some imperfections some places, but you cant notice them when the car is together... good luck with whatever you decide on doing

if you take a blow dryer, heat it up, and use a screwdriver (flat-head) and pry it off, and then heat up the other motor shaft and slide it on, maybe with a little glu

I'm just getting into mini-trucks and have a Mini-T. I picked up the Baja motor and a set of Trinity 9T-12T pinions. There are a couple of posts in this thread on how best to attach the pinion to the motor: CA, JB Weld, etc. Which method seems to be working the best? Should I grind a flat spot on the shaft? Thanks in advance.

if you use the set screws, be VERY careful and dont strip out the screw... also, dont lose the allen wrench, because there are no replacements, and the factory doesnt know what size it is... just as a fyi...

the set screw was probably ok, just the cheap allen wrench wore down. losi wrench's, they are worth it. i seen screws that guys thought were stripped, used a losi or any quality wrench & it came right out.
