stock, with the stock batteries, kind of sucks. different motor and different battery, if you drive pretty good, you can do most of the same jumps that everyone else is doing with the 1/10ths. size + weight + speed=good truck

Yes, I agree, I have 2 mini-ts one with a Raptor motor the other with a Baja motor running the stock ESC with 7.2v packs and am very impressed with the lil machines' speed. May eventually go with a mamba but right now Im happy with em............

I have the beast raptor motor and YES I am running the stock ESC.
I have not used my GPS yet to see how fast it goes but I am very happy with it, it seems a bit faster than my Mini with the Orion Baja motor.
Once I GPS it I will let you know the speeds.

im using a 7.2 battery and a baja motor.and i gotta say still not really impressed with the speed..i was under the impression it would be much faster than what it was.by doing all my research on it.i read alot of guys were saying huge difference but not really..the baja with 4 aa's runs about like stock motor with 7.2 pack.runs much better on 7.2 but still not impressive.

i have 2 mini-ts and one is in pieces waiting for a 3racing graphite chassis gpm alloy shocks a mamba 6800 a hitec metal geared servo and some other hop ups, while the other one has a Epic motor in it. I like the speed with a 7.2 battery. i have seen a baja in action. a kid at my track has one in his and can wheelie whenever
Brian23
11-07-2005, 02:56 PM
rigt now im running the baja with a losi 7.2 pack and cant pul wheelies from a standpoint even on the high traction surfaces... im thinking i might get the raptor or the graupner 6v 300 motor...

those are your drive pins and yes they are only on the back wheels you need those in and in line with the slot in the rear wheel other wise your truck wont move

11-07-2005, 09:46 PM
and will a larger spur increase top speed or acceleration?
ok its larger the spur more acceleration smaller the less
and for pinion its smaller for more acceleration and bigger for less its opposite of eachother and that goes for everything not just r/c

i was with my friend today and i was jumping my mini t of his bike ramp and he was jumping his rc18t.. i landed every jump and it diddt bottom out much with all the zipties i used on the shocks as spacers(still dont have oil shocks yet) so after one land the gear mesh got all messed up so i reset it and was going again.. but then again the pinion was no longer touching the spur so it wont stay now and i can get the screws any tighter
Brian23
11-08-2005, 05:21 PM
and do u think they will sell drive pins at my lhs?
Legend_Car
11-08-2005, 06:39 PM
they should, or if you want to get creative you can cut small body clips like the ones one your mini-t the same length as your drive pin
Brian23
11-09-2005, 03:12 PM
i tried bring creative by trying 2 use sodder for them but it just bent

quick question what do u prefer? the rc18mt or mini t, beacuse my friend got an rc18 and it can easily beat my mini t which has a baja motor and it has better steering and acceleration and top end speed and it come with the oil shocks and bearings
the rc18mt just sounds so much better
mdewitt71
11-12-2005, 09:50 PM
I do like the 18T and the 18MT, but I am a big fan of Losi (own 4 Losi's) so I went with the Mini-T versus the 18MT.
What pinion and spur are you running with your baja motor?
Do you have bearings in your Mini to include the front wheels?
Did you get the pin in yor rear axle fixed?
Legend_Car

11-12-2005, 10:50 PM
i just got back from racing theres not a whole lot of difference between them 18t's got the power through turns and mini-t's got jumping it really comes down to driver most of all but i didn't do so good today 1st round- probelms with pinion/spur didn't finish 2nd round- tied for 4th out of 5 lol but thats becuase my ball ends keeping comming undone and i had atleast 2-3min of downtime total in the race so really i did ok then i didnt stay from 3rd and main if i did id not be typing this right now lol but better luck next week then i hope

i do not have bearings... whould they increase the performanec alot?

Now for my question...
What is everyone else running for gears?
I am running one baja motor mini and another with a Raptor V motor both with 60T spurs. The Baja has a 10T pinion and the Raptor has a 11T pinion.
I thought the Raptor was really quick but according to my GPS its only hitting 15 MPH (with my heavy GPS on it), but I figured it was really faster.

Hey guys, This is OutcastZeroOne of Outcast Horizon. Ive seen a few questions about my chassis here so I'll do my best to answer them. The chassis has been extended by 3/8" (about 10mm). It is a little heavier then stock. If you look at the site there is a picture of the sock chassis and my chassis on a scale. I did have to raise the price to $74.99 for all the little fixes I had to do to meet demands a fix a few little issues. I am working to see if I can make my chassis closer to the stock chassis wieght. Ive got an idea and will see about trying it tomorow. Ill keep everyone posted on the status of this.

I have a Trinity 20 turn, Monster Termination I think. I am at 9/60 right now, but I can do wheelies with a 11/58 ratio on carpet (I don't know about 13/58) with Trinity monster tires slightly modified for traction. I don't know my top speed, but I estimated 30-35 mph with a 22 turn Trinity Termination and 13/60 gearing by driving behind my dad's van. But that's an estimate.

my gears wont mesh right with a 10t pinon and stock spur? is this normal... the guy at my lhs said that i need a larger pinion so it will mesh write but then ill blow my esc because it will be over geard with my baja motor... even though the mamba is pretty pricey 4 me i think ill pick that up and try 2 find a good gearing... does anyone know if u can run the the stock receiver from the rc18mt with the mamba?
teampeter
11-13-2005, 09:39 PM
I had to extend the motor mount holes and the middle motor hole thing (don't know the right name) by grinding them. It works. If your'e scared to grind the motor plate (which you shouldn't be, cause their is hardly a chance you will mess up) , get a spur gear bag or two from Losi (3.50) and hope you get a 61-62 gear spur in there. a larger spur will help and lower the ratio further. And yes, you can use any receiver with the mamba if I am right.
Oh, don't worry too, too, much about overgearing. Your ESC won't blow up that quick, it's just that your motor may wear faster. I have used a 13/58 gear ratio for a whole charge or two with my 22 turn, and haven't blown anything.

P.S. OutcastZeroOne, do you need a servo saver for the chassis? What does the red powdercoating look like? Pics? Lookin' good though.

i did dremel the motor plate a bit but the motor couldnt go any further

If there is still space between the tranny and the motor, you can go further. If not, it should be able to accomodate 10/60 gearing.

P.S. I jumped my T 12 feet off a ramp that is as tall as a VHS tape!

yes it is semi stripped because of gear mesh issues

Time for a new spur gear then.
I was rippin' around in the snow(I know, I know, but it was just too much fun!!) and some thing weird happened. First it slowed right down, but I took it inside and fixed it by drying the engine. Then I tested it, and one, it doesn't have reverse, and two, the radio range is a whole two feet
I know what caused the problem, but where is the problem, and can I fix it? It's a stock esc/rx, if that helps. I am guessing that it has moisture stuck in it or something, but I don't know. I'll delve deeper tonight, but any help to speed up the process?

I'll balloon the ESC next time. One big reason it happened is because we ran through some deep snow. As in inch and a half-ish. Won't happen again....maybe :D
Outcast...for your steering setup, does it develope slop over time? I have an aluminum steering rack and it is more sloppy then stock now.

Hey guys. I started a mini trailer project, but I cannot finish it due to other projects. It is made of all aluminum, and just needs to be finished. To finish it, you will need to finish the axel setup, finish the tailgate (just put it on). It is a double decker style, fitting 2 mini's into it. The tailgate is a vertical one, and I also have a ramp that fits into the trailer, and you can drive the mini up. I built this when I decided I was bored. If your seriously interested, you can send me a message or an e-mail at Racerman85@msn.com. Serious inquries only. I wanted to offer this to someone here, before I posted this on the main site. Pics available.

Cheapbatterys.com
1. Cell type = 2/3A
2. Number of Cells = 6
3. Pack configuration = Double Flat
4. Wire Size = 16AWG
5. Connector = Deans
I just order 3 packs. They have way more punch than the pack I made from walmart (6cell 2300 energizers AA)

Right...so that the battery can't short out at the connector as easily...and male for the motor so that you can plug a battery directly to the motor for break-in or testing.

What gearing is being used for this motor? I am planning on some bling as well namely the purple EVO aluminum kit. I will have to wait on the matching purple threaded shocks. Look forward to testing all this out on Christmas. What is the cost of a 3 cell lip with charger anyone have a link? Thanks all Gene

"It is possible to easily and precisely adjust the movement of the cutting tool operating wheel. Tighten or loosen the adjustment screw in the left side of the tool head, which adjusts the pressure on the plastic insert-pad, resulting in fine control of the tightness of tool head movement."
Is this why it is capable to cut mini mod motor commutators?(lotsa mmmm's;))
One18th.com does it. they call it motor reconditioning. you send in your motor to them and they cut the comm, new brushes, new bearings.

on the rear end the two rear a arms are connected in the middle with a plastic block with 4 holes in it. there should be a metal piece goes from the l arm to the r a arm. to remove hinge pins, there are e clips on them. use a small screw driver and pop on side off and slide the hinge pin out. presto a arm off. hope this helps

i sometimes have to bend them back with two needle nose pliers. do you race your mini? or are you going for the bling factor? i stay away from alum parts, i race and i dont want a ton of weight, but when bashing you dont want parts to break. remember aluminum puts higher amount of stress on other parts

Hi!
I picked up a used Mini-T a few weeks ago, and have just recently had the time to look into it. I've fixed a few issues immediately including a stripped diff bevel gear, wildly off camber, and overly tight spur/pinion mesh, but I have now run into one issue where I'm not sure exactly what's wrong.
Often when the Mini-T is powered on, the steering will not work. I'm sure it's not the transmitter, since I've tested with another TX with the same results. I've also tested with another identical Losi servo, it really seems like it might be the electronics. If I push the wheels a bit, the steering seems to wake up, and after a bit of this "waking up" the steering seems fine. Anyone else have these issues? Suggestions? Could this be an artifact of running a Trinity Monster micro motor in the Mini-T, possibly wiping out the ESC?
Have fun! :)

Bak,
I have had a similear problem with the steering. It seems to want to lock up right from time to time with no throttle response when it does that. I adjusted the steering so I would not bind it up when I steer to the right but it still does it from time to time not sure what is the cause of it? Maybe someone else has this problem? Gene

hmm so when you swapped servos it still acted the same? It seems like it could be something in the ESC/Rec unit.
I doubt the motor has anything to do with it. I think the monster micro was made specifically for the Mini-t wasn't it? Anyway, I have a Orion Baja in mine and I haven't had any ESC/rec problems.
If you know someone with another Mini-t, I would try to swap the ESC's to see if that fixes it. If indeed the ESC/Rec is done I would look into all new (new to the truck could be used) electronics. It's a bit of money but the quality will be much better.
I haven't been to the forums in a while but when I was here I believe the combo most used was a Hitec mini servo with a Novak Spy ESC.
Just a though, hopefully the stock elec are ok though.

Hi dub-c,
It seems the problem is fairly common then. I guess it is an RTR that can be had for about $100.... Anyway, I actually have a Novak XRS ESC that I think would fit the Mini-T well. It's sitting in a TB-02 right now, but I'm probably going to buy an ESC for that car which allows turning off the reverse function. The only issue left then is getting a small 2 channel receiver with BEC and a good pico servo. Thank you for the pointers!
Have fun! :)

Perhaps, I'm pretty sure that's what they call the ones in my electric heli. They looked about the right size, but I've never compared them since I purchased the mini-t. It's not worth taking the servos off the heli and adjusting them again ;)

I think they are Losi stock pinions, I looked last night and they are the black ones (plastic I think).
In fact, I do have a lil bag of them, I gotta see if I have smaller ones though, right now all I see is 13T and 14T ones.

My mini-t is possibly ready to run after being in parts for a long time. I bought a bunch of aluminum parts for really cheap so it got me to rebuild the little sucker. The battery is charging right now so the verdict is still out on if it's in optimal condition.
It's completely rebuilt now but I am worried about the front toe angle. I don't remember what it was like stock since I haven't had it together for so long, lol. Anyway, when the shocks compress the front toe angle becomes very negative, more negative the more the shocks compress. Are the stock ones like that? When the arms are level everything is fine it's just when the shocks compress that the toe goes negative.
toe angle def'n:
http://www.rctek.com/handling/toe_angle_basics.html
"toe in" = negative toe angle

Hi dub-c,
My mini-t had the Losi hop-up dampers on it when I got it, but the toe-in doesn't seem to change when the dampers compress. The camber goes in a little bit when you push the truck all the way down, but when the truck is bottoming out there are usually other issues to deal with. Which brand of parts are you using?
Have fun! :)

Thanks bakabaka,
I'm not sure what the deal is then??? I'm using all stock parts or Dynamite Aluminum parts. I got ~$140 of Al parts for ~$35. Stormer Hobbies is having a huge sale on Al parts, they also have 1200 mAh micro NiMH batteries for $10.

I was having problems with the gearbox so I bought a ball diff for it (from MIP) and I'm having a hell of a time getting the diff to stay secured. It's hard to describe how it's installed unless you've seen it since it's different from the stock setup, but if anyone has the MIP ball diff and has some pointers on keeping it together I would really appreciate it. I'm temped to use CA on the nut that holds it together but it's such a pain the assemble it I'm afraid it will adhere in the wrong position. Having a degree in engineering really makes me want to throw a few body blows to whoever designed it. They obviously slept through their design for assembly classes.

Hi dub-c!
Not sure what could be up with the aluminum parts, do the suspension arms have the same basic dimensions as the stock ones? Also, in my (admittedly limited) experience, keeping the turnbuckles etc level when the truck is sitting helps a lot. I'm no engineer though.
As for the diff, is possible to put a locking washer on it? Rebuilding the diff would be a pain if you had to break a CA glue seal to do it, never mind adjusting it for different traction levels. I still have the plastic gears myself, and since the truck came with a stripped bevel gear I purchased a few extras. I've been thinking about picking up a ball diff to replace the plastic gears, but despite their reputation it sounds like the MIP diff probably won't be the one I buy.
Have fun! :)

The arms are stock. I only replaced the hubs and steering arms (what the wheels attach to). I usually have the arms level also. I went out to look for a hex driver to make it a little easier to install the diff, but I wasn't able to find one. I don't think anyone makes a 1mm hex driver. If they do I didn't see it at my lhs, home depot, lowes, or towerhobbies.com. I haven't sat down and looked at it for a couple days. I may try to get it all in order later today. Thanks for your help :D

Mini LST. The associated truck is just a rc18t with bigger tires. The mLst is a bigger, better value for the price. It comes with a synthesized fm radio, batt, and charger. Its super fun out of the box and with the drivetrain completely protected its better suited to be ran anywhere.

12-24-2005, 02:19 AM
Interesting, is the drivetrain of the Mini LST tougher than the Mini-T? Does it have gear diffs by default, perhaps metal ones? I've had a few of the bevel gears strip out on my Mini-T, and I've heard that the diffs are more or less compatible between the Mini-T and Mini LST.
Have fun! :)
teampeter
12-24-2005, 02:24 PM
Definately the Mini-LST! Only the centre diff is compatable with the Mini-t ball diff, and a Mini-t ball diff helps prevent the front from unloading. I have only heard of the pinion gears on the diffs stripping (see the MLST forum in the hot news, new stuff section). Mine had a problem w/ my dogbones, and I don't know about AE, but Losi has the best customer service ever! I phoned them about the prob, and then they just said that they'll send me a couple sets. Losi rocks!

Hey Guys and Gals,
I'm a new "member" of these forums, but I've been a long time reader of both the magazine and the forums. I was wondering about some alluminum parts for my Mini-T. I want to get Suspension arms, C-Hubs, Battery tray, Shock Towers, and other parts. My problem is that I'm not sure what manufacture to get them from. My Local Hobby Shop has plenty of Dynamite parts, but I'm not sure whether they are the best. I have had great experiences with them in the past, but I was wondering if anyone has more suggestions. Also, I need upgrades like slipper clutch, cvds, etc.
Thank You

I just got a mini-t in a trade. It came with a team orion 1100. Is it okay to charge it on my Dynamite vision twin peak charger? It seemed to get pretty warm, pretty quick. I was afraid to leave it on there until it said it was peaked. Is this normal?
dkj-M3
01-05-2006, 07:58 PM
charge it at .05 to 1amp, with a 30 mV cutoff/votage threashold. If it got hot quick, you might have charged it at 3amps or higher. not good for 1100's. If you have a temp probe it should peak around 100 degrees. which will just be warm but not hot.
gp1100's or IB1200 are the only packs I would use. much more power than standard packs.

Works real good with the 3racing carbon chassis. I just had to sand a few millimeters off the last posts on the aluminum brace that joins the carbon chassis and the front chassis part, I'm pretty sure that the integy is similar and you should be able to make the same simple mods that will alow you to fit the 81MG

Sorry man, took me awhile to spot your post  yeah I did cut the ears off (like Van Gogh..) and here's a picture of something similar to what I did when I shaved the posts but on a regular chassis just to give you an idea where you need to shave of a few millimeters cause I don't feel like disassembling mine...

montrealer but how do you hold it to the chassis?
Well if you shave the posts properly, the servo case will just "snap" between them. Then you put the servo holder plate right over it and voila !
See the 81MG is the same thickness as the regular feather servos the mini-t was designed to use so it is properly secured on both sides and from the top, no need for servo posts anymore.
I tell you, if you make this mod and go ahead with the 81MG, you'll just wonder why you didn't do it earlier. This is how the mini-t's steering design should have been in th efirst place. The 81MG makes such a BIG difference.

I have the Losi shocks and they leaked quite a bit as well, even with the extra gaskets/shims. It seems no matter what shocks you get you'll need to use some Teflon tape to seal them. I bought ten rolls of Teflon tape at Sears for ~$2 so at least it's not expensive.

I just got this mini-t a little while in a trade. I bought a new servo and I am having trouble getting it to work properly. Its the hitec hs-51 and i'm using the losi servo saver made for this servo. The mini-t came with the upgrade gpm aluminum steering kit. When I get it mounted up it turns to the right, but when it turns to the left it doesn't seem to go as far. Also when it goes to the left it will not go back to center. It does great to the right. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

How do you attach jpeg images over the kb limit? Make them smaller?
Is anyone in the market for spare plastic parts including hinge pins?

P.S. bigair... try taking the servo saver off, centre the steering trim on the radio, and replace the servo saver. Also look for binding and for the correct length on the tie rod connected to the servo.

OK fellas....I am asking this question on behalf of a buddy of mine. He has a Mini T that he did some mods to. He has added a lot of aluminum parts to the suspension and also upgraded the motor. For the motor, he used a Trinity Terminator(?), and the battery isn't anything too extreme either. All wheels and tires are stock. My question is that as he was playing around with it indoors the other night, and all of the sudden it stopped. It now no longer works at all. No steering, nothing. Would it be possible for the ESC/Receiver to get fried by just the change of the battery and motor? It didn't seem hot to the touch when it went out, but it just stopped working. For the pinion gearing, I don't think he had changed it too dramatically either. Just looking for your thoughts on this, and any ideas you may have. Thanks for your help guys!

My guess would be it's cooked. The ESC/Receiver that is. Does the radio light up. I had trouble with my radio when I first got my Mini-T. I had to play around with the battery tray alittle to get the radio to work. If it's not the radio I'd start looking for a good ESC and receiver. You should get both for under $100.

Mini T holds up pretty well against the rc18t. I had a bad start with my mini, got it out the box and one of the rear hub carriers was already broken in half and the dog bone was bent to a 90 degree angle. It must have been poorly transported. Its really a gret car. The only way the RC18T beats the mini t is that it has 4wd.
BTW, I think the trnity Termination batteries are the best cos ya dont even need new electonics.

Hey guys, I have had my Mini-t for about a week now and it is great, except for the electrics...Mine just started having the servo problem that many have had. Anyways, I want to upgrade the electrics...What's the big difference btw AM and FM??? Also, is the stock radio compatible with any aftermarket receivers or is the stock radio junk?? Also, has anyone used the stock mini-lst FM electrics in a mini-t? I'm just trying to convert it the cheapest way possible but with better electrics than stock. Thanks for the help!!

I just got one on friday and I love it. Replaced the original motor with a Trinity Monster(strongest one in stock at LHS right now). Ball bearings, the cv axles, new rear tires, metal spur gear, and lipo's so far. For its small size, it sure doesn't lack in power or speed. The one problem that I have is that every time it goes airborne, it just flips and tumbles. How do I make it land right side up and not do as these flips and rolls. It is extremely durable though, thank goodness. Shocks are next on the list.

Hey Straick, I think that the shocks will improve your flight quality. They will keep the truck flat off the jump and it will jump flatter as a consequence.

Cutting the comm is where you use a comm lathe to skim some material off the commutator(part where the brushes in the motor contact) so it is perfectly round. I want to know how to do this with a mini motor.

It used to spin so that the front hit the ground first. I now got it to land on all 4 or rear. Oil shocks, medium springs on the front, and whatever the ones are that came on the rear.

i was one of the first people in my area to get a mini-t. i have have countless hours bashin it. at first the front bulkhead would break after a major hit. a alum skid plate fixed that prob. i have up graded many parts, shocks, ball bearing, more alum, team orion big block motor and mount, i have prob gone through 5 sets of tires, and still orig. batt. pack runnin strong. its been drowned, replaced the esc/receiver twice, once from water the other just fried one day. three sport motors until i got the orion motor. i got the parma 50's panel truck body which looks f-in sweet. i would love to put in a momba or rage esc and motor, but my new passion is the lst2 i got a couple weeks ago. so i will leave as is. i have a blast with it, although my cat is very scared when she sees it lol. anyways i like the mini's cause you can run them any time, anywhere. was thinkin bout racin it but the closest track is over 50 miles away. oh well bash away

tmaxx 101- im guessing your mini t is completly stock right now. Here is what i would get for it.
bearings
oil filled shocks
paddle tires for the rear( they hook up well)
wedge tires in the front, (but you could leave the front tires stock the wedge will steer a bit better tho)
you probly dont wanna upgrade your electronics yet because thers a good chance they will get fried at the beach
but a mod motor would probly be needed- such as team orion baja motor , trinity termanation pretty much any will work good
your wana get a metal pinion and drop a tooth or 2
cary an extra spur gear incase you get sand in the gears at the beach and you strip it
And that should be good i think :)

you will need connectors for the baja. But that's easy to take care up as the motor comes with a positive and a negative wire. Just peal away a little plastic and secure it to the esc leads and your set.

I have a set of those shocks and they work awesome. Mak sure you clean up the pistons really well, there's a bit of left over plastic around the hole and it makes the shocks work like garbage. Once I removed all the stuff from the pistons, they worked great. I used 10wt oil, but I'm not sure because it's been quite a while since I got them.
I have a Duratrax Twin Peak charger and all I can charge my 1100mah battery pack at is 1 amp. Can't be of any help on that one!

You can charge it at up to 1c the packs rating. Just set the charger for whatever your cell count is and the charge rate at no more the 1c(1.2 amp in your case). I will charge the pack at no more than .5c after a hard discharge for safety. Don't know if it actually is safer, but I haven't had any charge related flares  . Good luck with yours.

Well...this is my first time around here, and it is thanks to how great this little Mini T really is!
I got my Mini T way back in Nov 04' and got all of its modifications at the same time, although I waited to install them later (i always do that once i learn the machine totally stock). I got the T and kept it just to run around the place and have some basic fun...didn't want it to get too complicated. Hoped to have some1 else in the area join me but with no RC'ers around that didn't happen. My Mini T only got used lightly from there on in my apartment building on tile and rugs. Still had fun, also went testing speed one day....got a great appreciation for good batteries!
Anyway, I just pulled my Mini T out yesterday an soldered a connection that was coming apart and finally ran it for the first time in months.....for the first time at my home in JA too! i started by cycling up my batteries again and running a couple hours indoors on carpet......all i can say is that it was alot of fun. carpet gave tons of forward bite!
Today........lol.....i pounded that poor Mini T like nobodies business!! That is why I am posting. it seriously is some of the most fun I hadwith an RC in a very long time!! its worth me testifying to it online now! i carved out a little course in my gravel driveway, probably no more than 70x40 (who knows my measurement estimations are usually off). went through 3 charges on two 6 cells and one 5 cell pack! the little Mini T was hooked up going sideways all day!
i have a Trinity Monster wild motor sitting down for it that i didn't use before as stock was good enough in door. i figure i will drop it in now to get down my straight better. first though i have to sort out a couple things.....
#1 My Mini T still has the usual servo "shake" from glitching or some interference, i know the standard radio gear isnt the tops but after all this time is there a quick tweak i can do that keeps with my simply idea of this truck?
#2 More importantly, I have read a number of people talk about a strange squeal from their Mini T. The two general ideas is that its somthing in the tranny solveable by extra grease or RS4 gears. the second is that people says its the stock plastic pinion and spur moving about on each other and they just need to be reset.
This has just developed for me, any of you guys here have any ideas?
Only issue after HOURS of real pushing today was one ball cup pop after side swiping a curb and pebbels that got stock in the front wheels strangely only on the first battery pack. What really could have been trouble was a screw that come loose from the motor plate. This allowed a tiny amount of slack from the motor shaft which warped two washers I had for the slipper. Quick fix this evening when i did a cleanup.
ahhh................yes. thats my report from a great day of RC. a group of people came over (i was supposed to go riding with them) and were impressed with my little track and the lines that were already layed down! they couldnt believe how filthy my little mini was!!!
sorry guys....just extra cheerful right now :p

me again :)
i got rid of that noise the other night by playing with the spur and pinion.
ran it for another two hours on Sunday, right at the two hour mark the sound came back but with another one to accompany it and i noticed the Mini T would bog down when i slowed up......looked pretty obvious to me what was happening. slowed it up and tried to coast off but nothing. slipper clutch issues again....
took the truck apart later for an inspection and full cleaning. learned a good amount about the transmission...now i see why the topshaft is a favourite part to change on t he Mini T. greased everything all up and put back together.
Monday, another two hours and again precisely on the two hour mark the sound reappeared! within seconds of it coming back the car also went straight on when i tried to turn. check the linkages, but realised it was my servo.
haven't looked since though, but i have obviously fallen victim of the dreaded servo failure like many other Mini T owners.
oh well, several hours of rough conditions (9 to be exact in only a handful of days!)...thats not bad at all.
going to try get more people to get some minis with me and fix this mini t back up!

I have a few quick questions about the steering on the T. I've noticed that there is a lot of slop in the steering, I'm thinking about getting aluminum bellcranks, steering knuckles and C-hubs to get rid of it. Is the right stuff to buy? And also, Is there any servo (like Airtronics or Hitec) that can replace the stock servo but still use the stock ESC/RX unit?
Thanx everyone.

04-25-2006, 11:54 AM
I have the aluminum bellcrank and it did not solve the slop problem for me. I think the problem lies in the steering plate's bushing being loose but I'm not certain still. I've been scratching my head for quite a while about this issue and I haven't come up with the solution yet.

Same. The alu. bell crank doesn't really help, mine ended up being even more sloppy. I just put the stock back in. I think it just has slop by design. To actually elimnate the slop, I think something like Outcast Horizon's chassis or a direct setup would solve it.

Yup the Minit comes with slow in the steering. I beleive most of the slop is in the right front tire.

I'm running the stock servo, but i don't want to upgrade because that would mean buying an entire new electronics package, which could run about $100. Not only that, but me n me bro race each other so we want the two mini-t's to be equally equipped. Then I'd be talking buying new electronics for two trucks.
Fortunately the stock servo is cheap, so I'll just buy an entire new one.
And you're right, the slop is mostly in the right front tire.
DarkSavage
04-28-2006, 12:24 AM
Believe me its worth it to upgrade that craooy esc/rx thing. The mod servos are so much better and youll be better off in the long run since the stock servo is going to continually break since the motor is weak in them and burn out. so try with a new electronic setup and if your planning on doing that tell me what your going to use so i can tell you if its going to be a good setup or not.

well I was searching around yesterday and I was thinking that I would get the Airtronics servo, some cheap AM receiver like Hitec or Futaba, and then either the Spy Micro ESC or and Airtronics BL Racer. Both of the ESC's are relatively cheap and both are really small.
And thank you for the input everyone.
