fast nitro motor?

I was just wondering what you guys(and girls) think the fastest nitro motor is for overall top speed, me, i think it is a picco .21 8 port

I think you are both just behind a bit, There is a new engine buy Nova Rossi that Marrenello... it turn about 44K at 3 hp pretty good for a .21. Now the thing is Rossi is going to come up with a whole new line I think it is going to be called the "cromos" line, based roughly on the marrenello. I have heard 48K for the RPM and 55K from after market Modders that plan to work it...

55 K rpm seems to me as an outrageous claim.

I don't really see this happening anytime soon on a .21 engine... under race condition and 30% nitro max that is.

Don't believe all the hype and all commercial claims because I've never seen any type numbers, power / torque curve or serious work backing-up that kind of stuff.

Since there is no standard for hp rating, rpm or torque, anyone can say anything and throw number out of the blue.

If someone give us a number, we need to know stuff like % of nitro used, gas brand, condition of the test ( load, no load, external temperature, engine temp ../.. ) so that we can compare apple to apple.

I mean one expert tuner can make an engine running very high rpm by playing with tuning, under no load and just before the engine blows. Reality on the race track would be very different.

Now, I am in no way saying Nova does not produce high quality / high power engine.

I am just very suspicious with that type number...

BTW, @ 40-45 K rpm, you are already playing with the limit and on most engine the max power is delivered way before that !

DFF, torque produced before 40Krpm is good, you want that to get you up to the speed. Admittedly, it won't get you up to full rpm, but it would give punchier acceleration which would help if you didn't want the weight of steering.

i don't have anything to convert asf right now, except for Vegas Video, and when I convert with that, all I get is audio...

so, you'll have to watch this 8 min video until it's about 7min through, then you'll see Cliff's L3 going around which I'll assume is Irwindale.

Max power in a .21 engine is usually at 34-37K RPM. This is due to the burn speed of Methanol (43cms/sec ) and the distance the piston has to travel before opening the exhaust port.

Above 37KRPM the speed of the piston means that not all the mixture will be burnt and the power drops off quickly, see any power curve and you will see this.

Nitro burns slower than Methane and so reduces the max revs of an engine but deliveres more overall power.

Why not get a Thunder Tiger EK-4 and gut it for the .70 motor it has. I hardly think anything can complete with the raw displacement. It would be a very torque-y motor, so gear up...
