I had my Auqua jet running great sat when out of the corner of my eye I see a mother duck and her 4 ducklings .Well ,before my hand and eye reaction could take over I drove right thru the flock ,and i think i took one of them out cause my boat engine stopped suddenly. Now the task of getting it back .I had my electric rescue boat ready to go so I deployed it to the rescue .The problem is I run 20feet of fishing line with a bobber and I get it caught on the rudder and drag it back .The problem is that when I drag it back ,it runs backwards and I get water comming in from the back.By the time I got it back in I had alot of water inside the hull and the electrics were not working  .I proceeded to take everything out out and dry it.I took the engine out and blew air thru it and used some wd40 to lube it up.Today I went to check the electrics on it and its all good now :D .I had this stuff in a zip lock bag but it s far from perfect.I guess I should baloon the ecs and batt. holder.I wish I could fit some type of radio box in this but there isnt much room for that.

I guess i need to rig somthing up on the bow that I can hook up to to pull the boat back from the bow ,then it wont take in so much water getting it back.

A lot of my buddies here run the line out and circle the boat then reel it in. Most of the time, the fetch boat doesn't get the insides wet, unless of course you tug too hard on the line. But they'll seal them up good with tape on the hatch. Guess it depends on what hull you've got.

Btw, the ducks we have around here ain't afraid of nothin! They'll stay in their lane and almost refuse to move. Of course we avoid them at most all costs because you never know who's watchin.

You hit the nail on the head!.Any time I come across ducks ,they get out of the way fast but these ducks didnt move.I thuoght when I got close ,they would move.my park wants them gone .I guess I could have sealed the back of the hatch better, anyway I got it all back together and I put the batts and ecs in balloons ,and put the whole electrical board in a ziplock bag again.I heard of the fishing line trick, going around and comming back .I may try that but ,the boat will still come in stern first. The auqua jet sits pretty low in the water anyway.

Took the A -jet back out today .She ran like a beast .Now ,I just have to keep an eye out for those ducks.I am running monster power in 20% and am wondering is there a big change if I bump up to 25-or 30% ?.I have to order some more fuel .I have two tanks left.I have run two qts thru her so far and the engine runs great, and only needs to be tweaked a little when I take her out.

Hitting ducks can get you into trouble with a Conservation Officer. Fair warning, I've seen a boat club that got slapped hard from an occurence.
Now to the retrieval part. You can place a small screw into the deck, a seco screw would do the job. I saw one boat recently where they guy used what appeared to be a hook from a bra! Hey, it worked!

Oh ,I wasnt trying to hit the ducks ,I just thought they would move ,but they didnt.I am thinking of rigging up some type of hoop in the front to hook up to with my chase boat.

i had a family of about 20 ducks get in my way the other day. i fired up a HIGHLY modified K&B (...open exhaust, exhaust throttle...and so on) and they didn't even flinch!!! i decided at that point that they had priority on the lake and i just waited for them to leave. as far as recovery goes, i just put a screw into the bow of each boat and i use a fishing rod to bring 'em back in.
