Hey all,
I have the fighter 550, and after solving the cooling issues, I seem to have problems with cavitation before the boat gets on plane. I think the boat is a little heavy at the stern, but am not sure. Should the boat take this long to get on plane? I have to really feather the throttle to get the boat going, or it just sits there. Thanks in advance, im enjoying reading the forum, and enjoying the boating as well

Size of prop and you say heavy in the stern. I know nothing about 550 but in general , i would say larger prop and my 22' boats like the Octura 632 and my motor are warm and batteries too but nothing to write home about. This is the first time i have read about 550 on any board or forum. I do know that the 550 has its limits on speed, so high grade upgrades would be futal. If you see a 550, it generally a view of the front and never a view of the transom. You may have to move batteries around from front to back or vise-versa. i believe if you move batteries toward the front a little, the weight will bring transom up. What happens is the keel goes down further and not letting the prop get a clean bite of water and by moving the cg foward lifts transom up so prop can do its job. it's hard for me to explain but take your 550 and see what i;m talking about.
