This looks like a group that enjoys flying. I built the first Lite Stik in our club and every one at the field took a turn flying it. The only time I got it back was when the battery was dead. I can see why it's good idea if everyone has their own Lite Stik.

Hi,
I was wondering if I could get some more info on the canard version....I love my Cub-Stik, and have gotten a Lite-Stik...the canard version looks like it might be the way to go....does it fly well...how did you do the conversion, any info would be appreciated....

Tim:

Ed Couch here in Dallas built the Canard version. It flies very nicely and is a nice change (considering we have 10 to 15 lite sticks out every week). Ed is a great builder and pilot, he added some comments to the original construction article that I've posted below. You can find the original article at
www.nyblimp.com/litestick.htm (http://www.nyblimp.com/litestick.htm)

Have fun! Jason

----------ORIGINAL MESSAGE FROM ED----------

Snakers?, I'm guilty of the canard design posted on Gabes site. If you decide on building the little bird, may I suggest one change from that shown on the Duk site. Make the ailerons 1.5 inches wide. I used 1-inch ailerons on the prototype and it handled well outside but needed a little more to handle a gym with ease. It flies fine in the gym, but if you get in a tight spot (corner) you don't have sufficient roll authority to turn quickly at a slow high AOA. Several others have used the 1.5 ailerons with differential to the up side of the boards and have had no problems. Email me offline if you have any further questions. A good flying bird. ed

Has anyone tried a 9v ni-mh to power one of these?

RVan,

Yep, Several of the Dallas guys are using 9V NiCd and NimH batteries in lite Sticks. Gary Jones flies almost exclusively 9V. he has so many that he rarely has to land for more than a few seconds.

He has a website (http://community.webtv.net/sr71fantx/FlyingPushingAirDown) with his email address and other planes (check out the Dragon Fly Stick picture below).
