Made a couple passes yesterday at this little airport near my house. According to radar gun was 95.4 mph. 24 cells custom everything and brushless motor....cant tell ya no more thats where the secrets are!! I think the top speed will be in the 150 range....95 mph is real real fast i thought was alot more than that but radar dont lie (most of the time) the car handled great and wasnt all that wild being no suspension. I know one thing..there will be ALOT of crashes at that event...you touch the steering at that high speed it moves about 10 times more than standard everyday driving. Downforce is a must also for those who dont think so im gonna add some more dowforce in form of wings and make the main body a little more areodynamic. I hope this event comes on east coast for the next one...the record will be shattered.

95.4 mph, it's not bad at all for a first try !

Good luck.

thanks...i wasnt expecting it but when i saw it go by i knew it had to be 100 or more but when i saw what it did run it was dissapointed. The tires were hard rubber like conveyer belt material and held up just fine and stopped fine with disk brake from one of the servos i think they should be mandatory

Are you sure you didn't clock a plane in the background instead? Hehe.

Good job man.

He's telling the truth there lol nerve racking it is when going that fast ain't it .... lol :D

95.4 is plenty fast ,but 150mph is insane  you gotta have full attention on something moving 150 thats for sure .

Congrat's on getting up to that speed for your first run. But how was it getting stopped? Do you think there will be enough room to stop before crashing into the turn 1 wall?

Cheers,
Mike

Thanks for letting us know, Promod. Thats sounds cool, I am hoping to try mine out at the local dragstrip, and see what it runs through the 1/8.

How much room did you use? Just curios.

Thanks,Randy

I think my dragster will go 60-65mph, that sucks but it's not bad. I too scared to hit top speed though, not enough room anywhere. I should hop the fence at my ariport and try it there

If you are in a small town in which the airport only services private planes, you could probably ask around and maybe get the okay to make a run or two... but if you're talking about a fullsize airport used by airliners, if you hop the fence, you'll find your butt in a federal prison from what I understand... I've heard you can get into big trouble if you just park on a nearby road and walk up to the perimeter fence and just WATCH planes land.

Just curious,
do you guys sweep the stretch of road you run on before you run the car? Can imagine hitting a pebble at those speeds could be desasterous!!

NotWalkinBlind
07-09-2004, 10:46 AM
I'm sure they walk it... but what about wildlife? Possums, armadillos, squirrels, rabbits, and raccoons could also present a problem.

A large cockroach? Yeeeeeeeeeeeeee.... nooooooooooooo!!!!!

 You're right! Didn't think of that! I'll rephrase my question..
Do you guys use a special fenced off piece of road that gets vacumed before you run your car? ;)
Pretty dangerous all this stuff (maybe not so bad if you have a big wallet..

i believe total run was about 1000ft-1/4 mile.... stopping was no problem at all...it coasted alot and i have a disk brake system on it that helped alot. I didnt sweep the "track" i didnt think about it LOL...good thing there wasnt anything there!! I appreciate everybodys good thoughts if this thing could turn i might make the journey out to cali but guess i will just have to wait till they come out east for the REAL speed run

Not sure about your track. but at my local dragstrip it won't pickup a 1/10 scale rc car....

That stinks, I hadn't went and asked them about it yet. Maybe I won't bother. Maybe I can find an officer that will radar it for me. Probably have to let him drive it too! LOL
On second thought I will probably still go to the strip, its bound to be the best place even if the lights won't pick it up.

150mph Isn't going to happen. You could not get enough HP to weight ratio in an R/C chassis. Anything over 110mph is about 2 fold harder to reach. Promod, you are doing great, and it looks like your out in front of the competition. Keep up the persistance. I do believe 120mph COULD be attainable in your case.

Congrats Promod! Bet that was a blast. Keep letting us know how your doing.

mtrsprt- Promod is doing awsome, but how would you know what the competition is doing. I am not flaming I just think that the manufacterers and such that are going to compete will keep things hush-hush and nobody will know what they can do till race day. The fastest run known is from Chris Collins at 112 mph, and that was in a 300' standing start race. He was running, I think, 17 cells and one motor. Things have come a long way since then. I am pretty sure with more room and todays cells it would be quite a bit more. This is just my .o2 , and the proof will be in the pudding, as they say.

No flame taken Randy. There is alot of nice technology in today's world, but the difference between reaching 110mph to 120mph, is about 3 times more difficult than going from 60-80mph.

Pro-mod knows what he's looking for yes. I am a drag racer also, and have been into the R/C hobby for about 18 years now, and it's alot of work to spend hours and hours trying to reach a goal.

but, IMO, it's still going to be a feat to acomplish anything near 130mph tops.

Not only are you fighting the drag of splitting the air, but when you add extreeme downforce to control car you need bookoo power to keep pushing vehicle forward. less downforce and you end up like the LMP Caddilacs, or steve ponds old car...They go a flyin!

:D :D :D Hey Randy... if you wanna impress the chicks (and I know you do), don't say "bookoo." That's the redneck, doofus version of the French word "beaucoups" and it's pronounced boh-koo.

racerrandy
08-02-2004, 10:58 PM
In my neck of the woods "bookoo" (don't know how its spelled, but we say it like its spelled here) means "a whole bunch"!

Later,Randy.

I know you were talking to the other Randy but I had to throw my 2 cents in.

NotWalkinBlind
08-06-2004, 03:17 PM
Yeah... but just because the dumbass bubbas and bubbettes in your neck o' the woods say it doesn't mean you have to.

Like I said before, it's merely a doofus mispronunciation and bastardization of "beaucoup." It shows yer ignorance. Don't say it... it's baaaaad.

I've heard people screw it up even more by trying to make a plural version; bookooz. I'm serious! :D

...chuckle...

Lots of people speak with slang words and yes I am one of them. That does not mean I am a dumbass! I take pretty serious calling the people of Kansas City, bubba's and bubbette's. I have been to South Carolina, people in glass houses should not throw stones!

If your post is in jest then thats cool but if its not, then we have a problem.

Huh??? In jest??? In jest??? LOL... I said I had heard it here. Well, just know that no matter where "bookoo" or "bookooz" is spoken, it's dumb, and it won't impress the really cool chicks, ya know.

Now, for the redneck version

bookoo
1. lots
2. butt loads
3. more times than a toad bumps his butt hopping across the road

(checks neck, yup, still red) Not to throw stones, but although it might be a mispronunciation, it isn't a bastardization, it's a colloquialization of a foreign word.

Now, group hug, don't we feel better, I know I do, I just farted.

Having spent a considerable amount of time in the south, I can say with a great deal of certainty that the words "Hold my drink" have never crossed the lips of any southern man. In fact, it's rather difficult to pry the beer can out of their hands even when they're dead.

:D :D :D

rcboy201, no its not. Thats why I took offence to it. We may all use a little slang here and there, but its no reason to call everyone a bunch of dumbasses.

Did you know that the coating on M&M's was devoleped right here in KC. Walt Disney started in KC also. See I know a bookoo bunch of crap same as justwalkinblind!

Mike, being a proud good ol' boy myself (raised in south texas and in the pan handle of florida) it depends on what's about to happen. If it takes two hands and you're on rocky ground, you get someone to hold your beer in the coozie cup, otherwise, you put it down by your feet to keep it from spilling.

To those offended by a little southern-ese, relax. Although I don't like to be called a hick and a dumbass (even though I have a bachelor's in RF engineering and now working on my EE), I just let it roll off my back. Everyone makes fun of someone else's accent regardless of where you're from, and everyone thinks those with accents aren't the brightest in the world. But, the bottom line is don't throw stones and the glass house bit. Put your thick skin on, and learn from this forum instead of angering one another.

BTW, I farted again, and I was thinking about you when I did it. :D :D :D

I dunno dude. When they need two hands don't they always wrap their lips around the top of the can?

Actually, even though I was born in Hawaii I truly love the south. I was even made an honorary southerner by a group of people in Manchester, TN. I've also journeyed twice to Mecca, (the Jack Daniel distillery). To this day I can't pass a Waffle House or a Cracker Barrel. Mmmm, them cheese & eggs & grits are sooooooooooo good.

About your flatulence problem, be careful, if you squeeze too hard you'll get it on ya.
