What is the stock shock oil weight for the savage?

Do most of you guys use lighter weight?

Thanks.

stock is about 10. i kept my truck stock. my buddy has 30 in his shocks. the time we spent bashing our trucks together, mine seemed to work a little better. his was a bit bouncy. neither of us is really experienced enough as a tuner to really know what's best. it all depends on where you bash or race.

stock is 10 to 20 depending on the weather, a few guys i kno like 50-70 and i run 100, but i jump ALOT OF BIG JUMPS, jumped my real truck once and landed on flat ground, fun stuff

i have enough money in mine already, and it will still withstand a 6 foot drop on concrete. i don't see the need for heavier oil.

The stock oil in Savage shocks is closer to motor oil than anything else. It's basically 10w, depending on the temperature. When it gets cold out, the viscosity changes and it turns to something along the lines of very thick syrup.

25w or 30w silicone shock fluid should do well for you.

that_one_guy: Be prepared to replace shock shafts with that heavy of weight fluid in your shocks. If you need your shocks to be stiffer, add more pre-load clips and/or put on stiffer springs.

It doesnt matter how many preload spacers you use or how stiff of springs you use, you WILL bottom out on a big jump unless you use some thick oil. and if you had stiff springs and preload spacers and thin oil, your suspension would be next to worthless. Suspension is supposed to have both UP and DOWN travel from its "resting" place. This allows the suspension to soak up both bumbs, and mini potholes. :D

I use 80 in both my T-Maxxes and have had no problem...and why would you have to replace the shock shafts? I havent had to, mine are just fine, and Ive had both my Maxxes for 4 and a half years now...

if you're slapping frame with a savage, you're a psycho.

80 wt in a t-maxx? that's awful stiff for such a light truck.

You guys just don't understand what thick shock oil does...

It slows the suspension action down...it doesn't "stiffen" it.

Thick shock oil helps trucks from bottoming out on big jumps...That NEEDS thick shock oil, I cant just add pre-load spacers, because No matter how many spacers you put on your shocks, dropping a 7.5 pound truck from 10 feet will bottom it out. Thick shock oil prevents this, Pre-load spacers and stiffer springs do not.
