I got my new SS built and went to break in the engine and first it wouldn't start. The pullstart was so hard to pull so then I took out the glo plug and made sure it wasn't flooded. When I went to try again it all most started then the screw that holds the clutchbell on came off. I took out the motor and put thread lock on the screw and tightened it and then the clutchbell wouldn't move. Do I keep the screw lose or is there something wrong and how can i get my motor to start. Thanks

Heat up the engine block with a hairdryer or heat gun. It will loosen up the tolerances between the piston and sleeve and make it easier to turn over. :)

The thing with the screw in the tip of the crankshaft is usually a result of not tightening the clutch nut properly. If you don't crank down on the clutch nut, the tolerances will be a little tight at the tip of the crank, often causing the binding that you described. Crank down on the nut that holds the flywheel in place and try it again - I think you'll find that it will fit better now. If not, then you might need a thinner 5mm shim behind the inside bearing of the clutch bell. This is more likely if you installed an aftermarket engine whose crankshaft might vary slightly from that of the HPI S25 engine included with the truck.

thanks for the replies. I tried to start the truck and the screw stayed in for now but the motor still won't start. I tried the hair dryer thing and it stuters a little like it wants to start but it just won't. I might try and take it to my LHS but I'm not sure if they will charge to get it running. Any way for some good news I finally got my body done and will post some pics after I eat dinner :) Thanks again

Well I took my truck to my LHS and they got it running so now all that I have to do is break it in. Here are some pics of my body. Sorry for the bad pics.
