I plan on running 12 or 14 cells. I wont go over 14 cells, and may even run 12-14 cells in series/parralel configuration for more runtime.

The motor is rated for 65000 rpms and gets 3600 rpm/volt. If you do the math, it says you can run around 18 volts or around 15 cells. I personally wouldn't run that motor on more than 12 or 13 cells. It is a reasonably hot wind and will heat up your controller and eat up run time. I raced that motor in my e-maxx on 12 cells for a while. Pretty nice set-up. Get a good controller. Also, running that motor on 12 or 14 cells in parallel will be pretty dissapointing. Stick to 12 cells in series.

Can you tell me how it performed? I will not be racing with the truck, but just out to have a good time, and speed things up if I desire.
The controller of choice, will be the Schulze 19.97KWF with HSF and dual caps. My initial choice of motor was the XL3100, but it wasn't in stock, and he said he would sell me the XL3600 for $143.00 with a new set of gold female connectors thrown in. Originally, My two motors of choice when I was deciding, were the 3100, and 3600. So, I should be happy with the 3600 on 12 cells without a doubt. Assuming the motor will reach 51,840 rpms(14.4V),with the stock 18/66 gearing, and 5.75" tires, it should come close to a blistering 49mph. That well at the point of satisfaction for me. I would probably gear it down to a 15 or 16/66 for a little less current draw, and a bit extra runtime.

It performed very well(I won RCCA race with this set-up last year). The xl3100 is a better choice overall for the e-maxx(what I currently run). I wouldn't push it out to that speed, either(unless just for a speed run). I geared mine to run in the mid 30's and it was fast enough(locked in first gear).
