Oh wow, I remember seeing that thing and thinking how well it could beat my brother's Traxxas Cat! Old RCCA ads, always fun to look at! Too bad it's built and all...

The Super Rockbuster was my first "real" R/C car. :) Built just like a Hornet, but it was more fragile, like the plastic wasn't as flexible. Had alot of fun with that car.

I love seeing pictures of some of the older cars. Mid-eighties stuff was pretty interesting. Remember the Kyosho Icarus? Or the Royal Ripper?
I still break out some of my old Car Actions and check out the cars from time to time. One of my favorite issues is Project Frog, the one with the yellow and burgandy bug body and the waffle-pattern front tires. I think that one also has an article on the Tamiya 959 rally car, but I'm not sure.

I love seeing those old cars too, I should've kept all my back issues. Anybody remember the Parma Mini Mustang, Schumacher Topcat, Ayk Pro Radiant (or was it Race Prep), oh, and that Kyosho Triumph was pretty cool....

The old stuff started a portion of the new stuff. But they were just upgraded

Serius,
I had a Triumph when they were new. That car hooked up great. With only a few changes like shock oil and gearing it out ran the best at my old track. I broke the diff screw and could never find a replacement so the car ended up being used for parts.
Anybody remember the Rocky or the Optima?
Those were great cars!

I cant believe that anyone would still remember an AYK Radiant. I still have one of those darn things, a Radiant not the Pro model. To be honest I dont remember what the difference was except the Pro came out later. I even have spare parts and all for my Radiant, think I might try to bring it back into running condition. If I remember right that was a loud car when it was running. Does anyone still have a Kyosho Turbo Optima, I always liked that car and remembered racing it with my Radiant alot in the 80's.

First real r/c I ever had was a Turbo Optima! I remember gazing at the ads in RCCA and just had to have one.
Wish I had kept that old car. You can usually find several Optimas on ebay at any given time but condition varies greatly, as you would expect.
By the way, a NIB Triumph went on ebay a short time ago, man, that would be killer......

One of my good friends has a Turbo Optima and a Javelin in great working condition. He's had the Optima since it was brand new, and used to race it. The Javelin he purchased on e-Bay, it had never been run. He's also got a Frog in perfect running condition, which we drove around a few years ago. It's got the fat foam slicks mounted on the rear with "GOODYEAR" written on them. These were the Road Hawgs of the day, man they got horrible traction.
When Car Action published the article recently on the Avante, I had a flash back of the original issue. I think it's the one that had the Robbe Scarab and the MRP Hydro in it. Car Action was trying to pump up electric boats by adding a few boat articles to the car publication.
And how about the old America's Hobbies ads? That page was always taped to my Christmas wish list.

I had a Kyosho Triumph about eight years ago. This little hole in the wall hobby shop in Oregon City had the only one I'd ever seen in person. Someone had built it, but never run it, and put it in the hobby shop's front window for $99.
I had read about the car, and thought the dual belt drive tranny was really trick, and the suspension looked as good as anything else out there, so I bought it.
I raced the car for a season, it was super smooth, but I remember having trouble getting the gearing right. I toasted a few stock motors on hot summer says. I wish I still had the car, just as a novelty.
i still have one with everything and some spare parts two , i put some Mip CVD in the back and my friend made me a special front shock stay in Aluminum 6061 T6 sand blasted ( it's way better than the original ) when i bring the car to track , nobody seems to remember this car , it's still very competitive and the car is pretty tough, i broke some parts at the beginning but now everything seems to Hold , Maybe i post a pic some Day

I remember the Rock Buster. I have a Turbo Ultima, Turbo Optima and Tamiya Frog among others. Do you guys remember the cars made by Nichimo (sp)? How about the MRP Shotgun? I think that's what it was called.

Well I didn't get into R/C until After High School, 1991 . My first was a Tyco brand stadium truck, tranny went after about 3months, Man I was mad, As I was getting out of the Navy in April 1995, I bought myself an RC10T, Man I loved that truck, I just got tired of having to change those 1400 mah batteries out after 4-5 mins of action, so I sold it to buy upgrades for my mountain bike ( a GT Team Zaskar). got 350 for it. Now we are in 2001 and I just bought myself a FTT3 totally hopped up, and its here to stay! I have 2 sons now and hopefully I can get them into the hobby, (shouldn't be too hard:) )
Well Ill stop rambling...

I just came across a Nichimo Exceed Pro 443. The car is in excellent condition. Its a 4wd, 4ws, and 3 diff car with the center diff being a Limited Slip Differential (LSD). I was amazed at the technology involved with this car for its age. I'm not sure when it was released (I'm guessing early to mid eighties) but it came with full track side adjustable aluminum body shocks (almost like a threaded shock setup), a shaft driven 4wd system, full ball bearings, 2 piece wheels, and this whole 4WS thing. I love the four wheel steering part! I am restoring the car right now (fresh oils and o-rings ect.) and everytime I sit down with this car I find something else amazing.

Would anybody know what my Nichimo would be worth? I haven't seen any for sale yet. I was just curious about its current market value since there aren't hardly any around.
