I have an electric Tamiya Chevy S-10 and i want to convert it to Nitro. Does anyone know of a conversion kit or anything like one?

my advice, buy a nitro or stick with electric. cutting up that car and fitting pieces to make it nitro would cost more than to just buy another car

Yeah, Andrew's right on.

There WAS a nitro conversion for the TA02, I think it was manufactured by Thunder Tiger, or at least it included a Thunder Tiger engine.
To be honest, there are better things you could spend your money on. If you can still find one of the conversions, I would imagine the hobby shop would nearly be giving it away. If you can get it for half price or something, go for it.

Hey dont tell him he's better off either having nitro or electric... he wants to try to covert his chevy s10 into a nitro... now that's a project i'd be willing to try... we should be encouraging to experiment on what we have... i know i do... i chopped shopped my cars many times... sometimes i failed, sometimes i didnt... it's all apart of havin fun... maybe he has money to spend, some of us dont... but dont tell him to either stick to nitro or electric... let him explore the possibilities

TA03 - these guys are just offering some solid advice to Hot Dog. He's asking about a conversion. Had he asked if it's possible at all costs, sure - anything is possible and I would encourage experimentation. Hot Dog was specific in asking for a conversion. I wouldn't want to lead anyone to believe this can be done with a little motivation and a Tamiya 4-way box wrench.

I just got a thought that could make this somehow worked. You'd have to modify the drive shaft to be thicker, not wobble, and have a spur gear on it. Then you could put a motor parallel to it.

Hmm... when i read it... i was a bit discouraged by it... but i'm not gonna make fuss over it...

Alright guys, dont get all worked up over this. I like to hear everyones thoughts. Im just a sport driver that has more fun building the cars than racing them. The truth is, i dont think i could find a place around here to race my cars anyway; its just not a popular enough area for R/C racing. So u can imagine how amazed people are that there are actually gas r/c vehicles and that they can travel around 25 mph (i dont tell people that there are trucks such as the RC10GT which can travell over 40 mph).

DK Models (in the UK) sells the Thunder Tiger conversion kits. They're not cheap, but if you ever do the conversion, post some pictures - I'd love to know how it comes out. You can find the conversion at http://www.dkmodels.co.uk/Sales/Catalog/R_C/Cars/Conversion_Kits/conversion_kits.html.
