Hey guys... i just bought a fiberglass sheet... i want to custom cut a chassis for my ta03... i'm trying to create an inline battery placement... so need some tips on how to go about cutting this sheet without having it to look like it was cut with scissors... what type of tools would be best for this type of project... now mind you i am a type of person who is a perfectionist... so i want the best... and i know some of you will say i will have to practice... and practice makes perfect... but tell me your guys input on this... thanks in advance
1st get a dust mask and safety glasses...just get them don't ask why.
a dermel with a renforced cut off wheel cuts/burns through very well...
you may also want to look at "Rotozip" bits there are a couple of diffrent kinds you should be able to use those in a dremel too
a fine flat file works well to touch up the edges and smooth around the battery slots...
you may also want to find a good countersink (sears $10-$16) be carefull trying to use a oversized drillbit to countersink things
time and patiences is all you need...

Well, I know one reason to wear a dust mask:
You don't have to blow fiberglass our of your nose for a week. Nothing like harfing black boogars !

If using the dremal, get a diamond wheel (Black & Decker @ 60% of Dremal), there will be smoother cuts and less cutoff wheel breakage.
We use a rotozip bit in a drill press, drill through first at corners with small carbide drill bit for accuracy. We made a pattern 1st out fo laxan and then traced onto g10 perm fine point sharpie and then cut the inside line to avoid creepage.
Use the mask and keep a shop vac handy. This is a messy project. Good Luck. :D

Where can i find these rotozip drill bits?
go to your local hardware store...
they should have them...
I'm shure that Sears carries that stuff too...
There are a few main types
-ZB10 standard
-ZBSC5 "saber cut bit"
-RZ125 for cermacics...fine edge slow cutting http://www.rotozip.com/indexusa.htm
the inventor is from up here in Wisconsin
I'm pretty shure the corperate HQ is in Crossplains, WI
Every hardware store around sells that stuff

I made my own ta03f fiber glass chassis, too bad it didn't come out as I expected, I think the 2 plates even weighed more than the plastic tub.
