With so many members trying out 1/8th BL buggy conversions I have put my 1/8 buggy project on the back burner (I might just buy some one's conversion kit).
So my next project is a 1/5 scale 4WD, dual bushless, LiPo powered Hummer.
I am going to use a carbon fiber chassis for stiffness (wheel base will be 660mm).
The layout will be the same as my 1/5 rally, E-maxx tranny connected to E-maxx front and rear clips via RC Alloys drive shafts. If my measurments are correct these shafts will be 240mm each.
The body arrives on 8/7/04. I'll post pics as the project progresses forward.

Ah, ya beat me to it. I am working on a chassis.
What body will you use?
Whats the width?
And Wheelbase?
That would REALLY help me out, thanks!

He said wheelbase is 660mm:)
Sounds like everyone is making brushless vehicles now! Cold Fusion has his CFR, Craps with his buggy, and now a 1/5 scale hummer. All I can say is awesome! Good luck to you man! What kinda motors are you going to use?

I am using an MCD Hummer body.
The width is 438mm.
Wheelbase is 660mm.
Motors are going to be two Starluck 8Ls or Hacker C50s..

the motor question is: these 2 motors will NOT provide you with enough power, take a close look at my 5th 4wd sedan (if you already haven´t done so ;-) )
and my 6th truck too, these babes really needed much better power to weight ratio !!
AND, be warned, the material costs and the time will rise very fast and very high, i do made now the 4th 5th scale conversion, so the experience might be there, maybe i could help ya with some things ??
The next 5th is in progress either, but not finally though over, there a re a few things missing !!
especially for the MCD parts you wanna use: the upper tranny diff covers are TOO SMALL !!! the bores for the small bevel pinion are too small, my 8 housings (spare parts showed the same effect) had to be fitted to the right size with a special tool !!! this is the most critical part at the mcd, but there are 2-3 more at the same "class" of malfunktion: the CVD´s might be not that easy to use you might think, there will be problems with the inner thickness of the wheel hub, due to the very short axle of all MCD axles (their own wheels are even NOT a right fit diameter and have to be re-designed in some areas !!
That is only a small cut out, the building of this 5th car was way heavier than all my others !! (the need of a Lathe is mostly a mandatory item !!!!)
Show me your thinkings, what will you exactly wanna put together ??
