See here:

7.4 volt 4650 mA 12 C are good numbers. Price is not bad either...

Why are they so expensive? Wont two GP3300's equle close to double of those batteries?

Because li-po is 3 times lighter than a GP3300 !
But 12c is impressive.

I'm testing the 2S4P packs to carry on my site. I've been using Tanic for a few months now with good results.

im not horribly knowledgable about batteries, but thunder power has a 8000 mAh, 2S4P cells (7.4V), 13 gauge wires for 159.95
Starluck,
I am interrested into the Tanic Pack but can't find tech spec i.e. size, weight.
Could you pls let give me those numbers for a TANIC LP 2500 - 4S ?
Does those pack comes with connector ?
Do you have Tanic pack in stock ( and this 4S pack in particular ) ? Price ?
Tks
Jammin,
don't forget that the 8000 mA pack is previous gen, lower discharge rate Lipo - 8C - while the new pack is very last gen 12C.
That makes a BIG difference because it means that you don't have to use 8000 mA / 313 grams ( 8.28 oz ), but instead lighter 200 grams ( 5.29 oz ) 4650 mA pack.
BTW, it's not all chassis either that will have enough space to accomodate the bigger 8000 mA batt. The 4650 is the same dimension as a regular 7.2 v Nimh or Nicad pack.
Same goes with increased weight of the 8000 mA, most 1/10 chassis will be unbalanced and suffer from the extra weight.

thx for the info daff. I just looked on that website and saw a 120amp (nominal) li-poly 10000mah 7.4 volt pack. Is this around the same size as the other battery? If so, wouldnt this last well... forever?
If you look at the top of the 2500 mA Tanic page, you will see that the size of each cell is 90 x 56 x 4.6 mm and weight 52 grams.
Since the 10 Amp pack you are looking at is a 2S4P ( 2 cells Parrallel, 4 cell Series ) it has 8 cells total.
Pack config is probably :
- - - -
- - - -
4 cells side / side + 2 stacks of them.
So, depending on how the cells are packaged, it will probably be something like 180 x 56 x 20 mm for a total weight 416 grams
In reality, it's probably slightly bigger and heavier, because there is welds, tabs, pads and space in between cells.
Anyway, this 10 Amps pack would not fit on a 1/10. Rather 1/5 scale with gobs of space and where weight is not a primary concern.
For 1/10 scale, I would keep it at 3/4 Amps max.

The 2500 cells are too wide for 1/10 applications. I use the 1550mah cells. The 2S4P pack is about the same size as a 6 cell sub C pack. When the sub C pack is 6 volts under load, the lipoly pack is around 7 volts. It should be considered a 7 cell pack. Looking at the price of 14 good GP 3300s versus one 2S4P pack, and price gets a little closer at least. They are still a little prices, and may not be for everyone. If you want the best performance though, there is no comparison.
No packs are currently stocked pending testing being complete. I need the U-Force with low voltage cutoff before I can really push the packs. Connectors are available as a $2 option I believe from Tanic. I go without since I use the 4mm ones that he doesn't stock.

just thought I'd let you all know. I talked to someone at TP a few days ago, and all of their tp-8000 packs are now 10C.

OK, so I'm a noob with this lipo but it's interesting. What kind of charger (links?) is needed. What's a good battery? Can ANY ESC use them? (I've got a Cyclone C@, what can it handle for lipo's?) Um, what's the danger factor?

yes any esc can use them but you need to be careful on how low the voltage gets on them i think something like 2.4 or 2.5v is the min, any below that and your going to damage the packs. or something like that.
the C2 can handal up to 7 cell/8.4v packs which are about 9 or so volts off the charger and 7.5v off the track so i think a 2 cell lipo would be its max.
its not so dangerous as long as you dont smash them, or over charge them or pull over their rated amps. just be smart about your purchas and you will be fine. im getting the great planes trition mainly for its flexability (1-24 cells) and it also does lipos but at a semi slow rate. but it will increse their life and runtime slightly. its a great option if you need to do nicads, nimh's, and lipos in one charger or its a great advantage. but it will need a power supply, a 12v car battery or 12v power supply would work great. i sell power supplys, email me at rokmaster@yahoo.com
what car are you putting them in?
