Monster Madness II is happening at the RC Madness track in Enfield, CT the weekend of the August 14th and 15th. Who's goin'? If everything goes right between now and then, I should be running in both the small-block and big-block monster truck classes. There will also be 1/8 buggy and 1/10 stadium truck classes.

World Champion Joel Johnson, Tamiya factory drivers David Jun and David Anderson, Traxxas factory driver Steve Slayden, factory drivers from CEN and others have indicated they will be in attendance. So if you ever wanted to see how team drivers and World Champions wheel their vehicles around the track, don't miss this opportunity.

Go to www.rcmadness.com for more information and entry form.

I'll be there, and I can't wait. I'll be running 1/8 buggy, its a MBX5 with neon yellow/orange body. Steve any general setup's for a MBX5 that work well? Also what was the competition like for 1/8 last year? here's a picture of me and my buggy :D

I didn't run at the race last year. My plans to run a truck fell through at the last minute, but I have run the track there before with the MBX5. You pretty much run the stock set-up, but I pull off the sway bars and run minimum caster for better steering. Pro-Line Crime Fighter and Dirty Harry tires work well, but I'm partial to the Crime Fighters. It's been a little while since I've run there, but I don't think it's changed that much.

I would sign up when you get there. You can call ahead to let them know you're going to attend so they can save a place for you in the event it's sold out, but I wouldn't risk mailing it now.

Well due to the far location, and lack of any place to crash for the 3 day event, my mom certainly won't let me go there alone. I really wish I could go as I bought my HB buggy and RB S5 engine to go and have some fun there. Still going to stock up on parts and sell some things just incase if my mom changes her mind. BTW, how is this race going to be setup? Practice one day, qualify and race the next and have finals the 3rd day?

StevePond

Qualifying is on Saturday and the mains are on Sunday.

Friday is practice, which is optional but recomended. Saturday morning will be crazy with everyone there. See if you could talk your mom into taking you Saturday and Sunday or maybe just Sunday to watch the mains? As it is now, I have to drive up and back on Friday because I have to work Friday night.... Then my dad and I are driving up Sat. morning and staying over Saturday night for the mains sunday. Steve what time do the qual's and mains start?

Everyone better keep their fingers crossed the coming Hurricane and tropical storm will miss us. Steve will there be a rain date if something big happens to hit us? If so let me know we have an email list we will send around to our track members in the RI/Mass/Ct area.

I hate myself RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I work every other weekend and really had planned on going this year! But in my world my work schedule is made several months in advance, so when asked by a fellow cohort if I could swap my weekend for theirs I did without think twice about it! :( I've been waiting since last year to go their and see the races and to potentially do a little racing! But what the hell I guess I'll just have to wait till next year yet again, but next time if I'm working I'll just toss my entire career away and go and race instead:)

It's 12:30am Sat night and I'm currently at work hope the weather holds out for you guys and best of luck to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Anyone know the website to RCMadness?

Anyone know the website to RCMadness?

Resp, it's a tough one www.RCmadness.com

I was there yesterday for awhile, it was hot. Stayed till about 3pm watch two rounds of qualifiers. check out the "madcam" there, they are going at it this morning in the rain. They were talking about finishing everything last night, but I guess not. Revos were very plentiful, and a tight double followed by a 180 made for many change ups.

Later.

A little bit, but they got about 160 entries and 3 qualifing rounds for the 21 races, big storm didn't happen to hit to hard, so must be a damp track, at least they won't need to wet it!!

JAnderson
08-16-2004, 02:39 PM
Yes the TNX took 1st and 2nd :D

Revo was 3 laps behind 1st place in 3rd.

Halfway through the race it was going to be a 1, 2, 3 finish for the TNX but Alvin blew a spur.

In fairness to the Traxxas guys, Slayden got a bad start which shuffled him back to seventh or so on the first lap. He quickly worked his way back up to third only a couple seconds behind the leaders. Slayden then flamed out and his starter was all the way on the other side of the track. So Jason his pit guy had to run to the other side of the track, get the engine re-fired, but then he had to run back across the track again to where he started because they would have been penalized for dropping the truck back on the track where the starter was located. Even after being off the track for that long, he still worked his way back up to third. That's not to take anything away from the Tamiya guys - I'm sure they would have won it regardless because they were incredibly fast, but Slayden was very competitive also. It was a great race to watch. The small-block trucks is definitely where they had the most competition.

i put a fantom fr18 engine in my mgt and finished 4th. i was in 3rd for a while but slayden passed me before the end of the race. i was on the same lap as him when we crossed the line.

Hi Jonathan, it was fun pitting with you and your dad, if you ever need a belt sander just ask.

The Monster Madness race was a lot of fun. Chris puts on a great race. The Rain was not much of a problem actually made for some good traction.

You can check out the race results HERE (http://www.rcmadness.com/350_JLap.asp)

Chris as always held an amazing race, it ran perfectly and although it did rain a good deal over saturday night the track was all ready to go for the mains on sunday.

As far as lap time differences, the track wasnt a horsepower track and you really couldnt put it down if you had it since the track got kinda rutted espically coming onto the straight and into the first corner. I had to roll onto the throttle alot in 8th scale by the time the mains rolled around and ended up 3rd in the 8th buggy in the A main.

BTW, Steve that was some nice air! No one had anything for you in that little competition, lol!

StevePond
08-16-2004, 10:28 PM
I agree with Stormperson. It was tough to put down the power, but I still had a ton of it. That O.S. V-Spec had no shortage of ponies, and thanks to the diesel framework of the Unlimited Engineer Razorback, I still have an engine (it was only a tank old at the start of the first qualifier ;) ). From the top of the arc to the bottom of hill I'd say it's a healthy 80 feet of air. :D I had more fun doing that than anything else the whole weekend.

I'll keep the belt sander in mind when i might need to grind something and i just don't feel like using my dremel! You would not believe how bad my diff in the savage feels after that race. Another five minutes and the thing would have been toast.

i find it funny that the TNX's were faster than the bigblocks as well

From what I was told they were fast enought to qualify in the A main of any class even the 1/8 scale buggies
