Hey guys, I cooked my receiver in my 1/12 Miss Bud. Anyone know where I can order one cheap? My LHS wants $50. I though the whole radio set was around $75. It is a Python Jr. AM 75mzh brand or compatible. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd scrap the AM and drop in a comparable FM. FM tends to have better range and less glitching than the AM systems, for not much more money. Are you talking about Ultimate? From what I've seen, their prices are about the norm.

Ultimate is the place, Abernathy's in Bellevue wanted $41 for a generic. Would I have to replace the entire system to go FM or just change the receiver and crystals. I dont know much about these. What are some good online stores???

Transmitter and receiver. AM and FM are two totally different wave patterns. AM uses a fixed modulation frquency and varies the height of the spikes to send the signal. FM, on the other hand, starts with a set modulation frequency and varies it by changing the frequency above and below the set frequency to deliver the signal. Needless to say, an AM signal can't be read by an FM receiver, or vice versa
