Alrighty...I'm gonna build a sweet RS4 MT...bearings, CVD's, ball diffs, Ti pins and buckles, a fair amount of aluminum, every graphite part HPI sells for the thing, etc...

I want it to move...I don't need stupid speeds...but I want it to do at least 35-40 mph. Any faster than that would be cool...but not needed at all. I'm mainly looking for a lot of acceleration, and good run times, w/ enough torque to roast all four on demand.

Anybody who's familiar w/ the RS4 MT knows that there's not a lotta room in the chassis, so that's gotta be a consideration for the controller. I will be running 6 GP3300 cells..probably matched. I can do either stick packs or saddle cell configurations. That's all that will work in the truck. I can make either kind of pack, depending on the room left after the electronics are installed. The other electronics will most likely be a 5625 steering servo and an XXL reciever w/ an XR2 Tx or an XS3 Pro Tx and Rx. Don't know if that makes a difference on anything other than the space left in the chassis, but I figured I could include it...

So, my main question is...what setups would work well for me? The Novak SS system makes a TC do 40, and is ultra-smooth, but I've heard it doesn't have enough torque for off-road applications. Well...off-road racing applications anyways, I'm sure it could move the truck...but I've heard it doesn't do as well as a comparable brushed setup...

I've read that the Schulze U Force 75 is a really smooth controller, and that it works well w/ the Nemesis 540 8S motor. I've also heard great things about the Lehner 4200's and 5300's. Are there other good controllers and motors I should consider? Are the ones I've listed here good? Would they fit in my truck?

Price is a consideration...but I can't say I've got a limit really. I can save up for whatever, but less expensive is definately better.

So...what's the best compromise of speed, acceleration, run-time, and cost for my application?

I am currently running an SS5800 in my MT. I love it. I would say it goes 30 to 35 MPH. I have some pics and vid clips posted on RC pics. Here is a link to my gallery. replace the ***** with RC pics.

You can ask me anything about it and my setup, but first you need to look at the stuff in my gallery.

SS5800 sounds good to me, but I must say it's the only BL I have. Has plenty of torque in a stampede, that's for sure. Great off-road. From what I read I gather it does better than a similar brushed setup, at LEAST in terms of efficiency, probably performance-wise too.

You can ask me anything about it and my setup, but first you need to look at the stuff in my gallery.I have clocked my old RS4 MT with a Novak 5800 system, highest speed I got was 29mph on 7 cells, with 23/90 gearing.

Also, I would have to suggest a Lehner 4200 and Schulze 18.61K ESC, with about 8 cells if you want 40mph. FOr some reason, IMO, I didn't think the RS4 MT had any room in the chassis. My TC3 had about the same amount of empty space, and that was scarce at that.
