My brother is getting a TC3 and is looking for the best brushless motor for it. My friend has a novak ss, is there anything faster? What would be a good esc to pair up with it?

how many cells do you want to run?
lehner 5300 and a schulze uforce would run good, and be alot faster than the novak.

thx, I was thinking 6 cells (GP3300s), should I use something else?

where is a good place to buy / get info about lenher motors?

I would go for 7 cells packs if you can. Brushless pulls high currents that can drop the voltage pretty far. Some setups will have trouble if the voltage falls below 5.4V for an instant. The Lehner Warrior controllers were bad about that. The Novak will be fine, but the higher power setups really shine on more voltage. Anyone have any feedback on the U-Force with 6 cells?

The U-Force has no problems with 6 cells, every motor I have tried lets you punch it from a standstill with no cogging.

Ok, I can do a U-Force and Lehner with 7 cells, but where should I buy these? Tower hobbies doesnt carry either.

Does the Lehner have a good life span and is the 5300 the best to get for it? I am looking for speeds over 40mph, my brother is going to be racing a TF TC3 with a Novak SS.

BTW, I forgot to ask if the GP3300s would be good for a lehner motor (7 cell pack). He doesnt need very long run times, just fast ones. Around 5 min+.

Thanks

I will be testing a similar set-up

GP3300's (6&7 cell) and a 540 7t from starluck.
Initially was gonna run a Yokomo, but due to parts availability, went w a IRS conversion for TC3 instead.
I will be running the CC controller when they come out, so it will be a while but it's good to know your on the same boat, we can compare notes.

ok if I go for a lehner 5300 ($148 at finedesignrc.com), is there any other speed control other than schulze b/c they cost $200-$300 each. Would any of the hacker speed controls work well with it?

The Hackers are in the same price range, but the Schulze is the smoothest controller and worth the money. A Warrior 7018/3BEC would be a cheaper option if money is tight. That's too high of a price to pay for that motor imho. I believe it's cheaper than that direct from BK.

127.50 USD at BK for the basic motors. WOOT! But shipping would probably kill ya.:(

BK is who bought Lehner and sells them directly now and stuff, although lehner still makes the motors, I think it's bk who makes the ESCs.

Will this work out:

7018/3BECWarriorCar - $173.75

&

Lehner Basic 5300 - $127.50

Total: $301.25 w/out shupping.

Costly!, I might have to go with the cheaper novak SS 5800 which is only $195.

That would be a killer combo bang for the buck wise, but warrior controllers have cogging problems I think. Plus shipping can range anywhere from 20-40 bucks, so tack that on to your $301.25. The novak should be fine for a TC. You can always wait for starluckrc to get his lehner, schulze, castle creations, and various other things in. Since he's in the US shipping wouldn't be all that bad, and judging by the cost of his feigao/nemesis motors (100 vs. 115 at finedesign) he'll probably have awesome deals and some kickarse combos. :)

I do not share your opinion with the warrior controllers, I have never seen cogging on them, but I did have to trouble shoot a voltage cutoff issue whitch forced me to buy good batts

promatchracing.com has awsome packs, especially for the price. also are 7 cell packs legal at your track or will they care much? just something to keep in mind

ok thanks!, I had trouble finding 7 cell packs

no problem. with the right charger the packs should have no trouble lasting for years (2 with good power) with the right treatment, read the battery care page too.
