i have a miss bud with a water pump that i put on. i was originally going to put a clutch on to but couldnt find that would fit. its the g23 motor. does anyone know where i could get one that would fit. would i have to get new mounts to make it fit and how do i size the flex cable. also has anyone ever run nitro fuel through these motors, what happens. also what prop would you suggust i use for a little more speed. thanx

You would have to move the engine way foward to add a clutch. THe engine is already too far back in that boat to begin with. Marine Specialties may have a clutch in stock for the G23 though. Plan on making new engine mounts and moving it way up, the addd weight of the clutch will really kill the CG of the hull.

The only clutch that I know of that will fit without changing mounts is the Prather clutch. I put one in a 1/8 Miss Bud a while back. Only had to shorten the stuffing tube a bit and realign. Worked great.
I recently put a Marine Specialties clutch in another 1/8 Miss Bud, but due to the size of this clutch, I could not get the right angle on the shaft, so I extened the existing mounts upward and mounted the motor. Again, no problems and run like hell. :D

Okay guys, I have a question for you. The full size hydros have direct drive and only go fast and turn left. The 1/8th scale racers have direct drive and only go fast and turn right. Why do you need a clutch to add weight to a boat design that even in real life has a hard time getting up on plane? Also, why would you want to stop one of these in the middle of the lake considering how they tend to take on water?
