Hello, I'm newbie in this electric hobby, I flown only a Pokey and Tiger Moth. I made a Pokey design from Mr. Robelen with a lot of successfull result. I flown that for hours in strong breeze or in calm days. On now I planned change the wings of pokey, with the idea to experiment with aielrons, but a lot of questions appear. First the airfoil that I guess is Clark Y, with 0º dihedral, span and chord are the same from the original. I need your opinions, and more informations: I put the same equipment from Tiger moth.

Thanks a lot and sorry for my poor english. :o

Hello,
That Pokey sure looks familiar! A very nice job, and some good pictures as well. If I were planning to add ailerons, I would basically do as you anticipate. Remove the dihedral, change the wing airfoil to a "true" Clark Y (the one with the upswept leading edge) and add a little bracing in the wing center. I would make the ailerons about .1 X the chord of the wing, and make them full span. Differential action will help, (more up than down movement). To work well with ailerons, the Pokey will need to fly a bit faster than my original. A GWS IPS A drive with a 9-7 prop should work nicely. A 7.2V-8.4V ni-mh battery of about 350 mah capacity would work well with this combination. When you get it finished, let us know how things are going.

Thanks a lot Dave for your advice. The pictures were made by my son, it's not my expertice. Is a very nice job because is a very nice and very good design, I'm only follow strictly your instructions appeared in rc microflight magazine, all of these, and the colors of the cover too.
Only have one more question, before to start the job, do you have some link, or database with the coordinates for this exactly airfoil?

Thanks in advance and appreciate a lot your advice, once again.
Regards
Claudio

Hello,
I use PROFILI, a free download with information on 1800 airfoils. I do not have the current website, but if you run www.google.com it will turn up there.
