View Full Version : Novak brushless: minimum wire length?

Probably a silly question, but is there a minimum wire length from the esc to the motor? Is it possible to go too short?
I had to cut mine down ALOT (the red wire is less than 1 inch, the yellow is slightly longer and the blue wire is approx 1.2 inches) so it would fit nicely under the body.
So before I try this out, just wanna make sure it's okay to have short wires. Thanks!

Shorter the better. It will give you less restiance.

I thought it'd be similar to brushed motors, thanks! Can't wait to take it for a spin on the track.

Just don't make them TOO short, that could probably screw something up. I just left the novak motor wires stock..fits fine in the T3.:D Now...to shorten the batt wires and stick on some deans...HEHE!

The shorter the better for performance but if its less than 1 inch it sounds like it will be a hassle to mess with the motor if you need to :) I just left my wires the same(cause i'm lazy) :)

I tried to cram everything as was into a XXX-4. Lol, didn't fit very nicely at all. So that's why I had to cut them down a LOT. So far no problems changing pinions and the body stays on nicely.
Those bundled smaller wires, I ran along where the receiver wire goes and zipped tied them together. Hopefully it'll hold up!

Sounds pretty clean and tidy! Mine is clean...cept for the big conglomeration of the three motor wires..but even then, they're not THAT bad...:D Tell us how it goes.

Waiting for my receiver to come back from Novak and I'll be in business  Well almost, still have to mount the power switch and the capacitor somewhere...I'm thinking servo tape to the gear cover.
Yah, I try to be tidy with my wires! That why it's driving me up the wall that I'm running the brushless wires in my XXX-T around my rear shock tower instead of through it :D I just don't want to unsolder/resolder the wires :p

Post count doesn't mean anything. Just because one has a higher post count doesn't mean one knows everything. NOBODY knows everything about ANYTHING, regardless of what they say.
Brushless motors are relatively new to me, I'm still learning about them. How was my question a "duh" question? What if, for whatever reason, using shorter wires was BAD? How would I know unless I asked?

Gutter- don't worry bout it bro.;)
Shin- There's a reason why these boards are around. To ASK questions. To GAIN knowledge. To LEARN! Everyone has questions about something.
