Just the other day i got the crazy idea to take the .16 out of my Kyosho Jet Stream 1000 and put it into my old twin 550 powered GP Marines Stinger SS. The Stinger is only made out of thin ABS Plastic I know, but if equipped with this engine i think this thing may fly...literally. Any how, i recently noticed that the old Great Planes Stinger SS resembles the Nitro Hammers in both looks and specs. Having said that, i removed the 550 motors/ mechanical speed control and first set of plastic motor mounts. I found that i could use the rear ones to mount my fuel tank. Now i'm stuck and need to find out the easiest way to create a set of engine mounts for the .16 that will line up perfectly with the stock driveshaft. I certainly plan on laying some fiberglass were the new engine mounts will be but i need to know how to make some that will line up first. I was also wondering if the Nitro Hammer motor mounts will work in my Stinger and will the ABS withstand the heat of the new engine. In, other words is this wishful thinking or is it possible? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

i don't see why it wouldn't work. there's plenty of abs nitro's out there. your idea to add some fiber glass is right on. nitro is known to eat abs. so you'll either need glass or some other coating. don't go over board with adding glass, as you want to keep weight down. if heat is a concern, see about adding some air vents in the top of the boat to allow more fresh air to flow through. the cen aqua jet is abs (i think) so you may be able get some ideas there.
