I'm getting my Nitro Hammer tomorrow, What do you guys use to make that air scoop? I probably wont be near a lake tomorrow, so I'll just do this mod while I wait.

I know how to make the hole and all, but how do i make the actual scoop to go over the hole? I want it to look as nice as possible, but cheap to make.

What do i use, and how do i fasten it to the boat?

Thanks

Fs454,
I Guess The First Question Would Be To Ask How Skilled Are You?
Because Making The Scoop Look Good Takes A Bit Of Skill. It Is Cheap Though. (bondo, canopy,ca, Exacto, sand Paper(rough & Super Fine)-thats It :d

I guess in this field i'm not too experienced, i've never had to make anything like this on my cars' bodies, but i can probably do it. What would be the easiest way of doing it? Is there an air scoop from a model car or something that i might be able to use?

you can just take your dremal and cut some holes in the drivers canopy. Or you can just run it without the top, thats seems to work the best for my hammer

You Can Get A (jet Plane Canopy-small) From Your Lhs. (was 1.99)for Me. Then You Can Cut Off The End. (for Your Size) Then Just Cut Out The Hole In Your Hammers Top Slightly Smaller But Same Shape.(triangle) Push It Up From The Bottom And ca. If You Want To Finish Off The Top Then Use Some Bondo Or Something That You Have That Is Sandable. Remember That You Will Have To Paint To look Good If You Do That! Thats About It......would Post Picks Of Mine But, Its In The Shop For New Paint. Will Post After Completition. :)

heh, right now i have two large ugly holes in the bottom of the cockpits. I'm gonna even them out with a dremel soon, but in your other topic didnt you say you had some kind of waterproof screen on it? or was that something else?

fs454- Yes I Did Say Something Like That. Actually What I Did Was Take A Piece Of Really Fine Screen And Dipped It In A Teflon Sealer. That Causes The Water To Bead Up And Blow Off Instead Of Leaking Through. I Have Liquid Teflon From Work Related Stuff. You Could Also Use Stuff Like tent Sealer Spray. Pretty Much The Same Thing. I Put The Screen On The Underside Of The Canopy. You Could Always Consider A Carb Air Filter. I Have Never Tried One But I Know They Are Cheap And Easy.

Here's 2 canopies that you can use for an air scoop. The second is considerably cheaper, but slightly fatter. Both will work though.

Did you use filler or anything before the paint? Looks good.

What is the best thing to use to glue the scoop on?

How is canopy glue? Such as (Pacer Ric 560 Canopy Glue). Says it will bond Canopies and Plastic parts to wood, fiberglass, paint, or MonoKote surfaces. Safely bonds vinyl, ABS, Butyrate, and other plastics. Forms a firm, flexible clear bond that can withstand shock and vibration.

It says it's edible. Wounder how it would taste on a ritz?

I copied and pasted the description, Chris :D

Burnz, I Used thick Ca To Hold It In Place. I Used Some Bondo To Finish Off The Cracks Ect. Used A Little Zap Gap To Fill The Fine Groves And Cracks, Then Sanded. I'm Posting A Few Pics For You To See Better. Good Luck!!!

Hope This Helped You Out. It Just Pops Up From The Underside. Then ca In Place. Make The Hole A Bit Smaller And Push It Through. Keep Trimming Til You Get It The Way You Want It.

Zap Gap, Which Is Thick!!! I Love The Stuff, I Wish That I Could Keep It In My Wallet. Kinda Like American Expresss. "you Should'nt Leave Home Without It!!" :D

I've never used CA much. I was too young when my dad flew planes. He like building them more than he like flying them. I,on the other hand, was into rc cars and buggies where you just use a screw driver and an allen's wrench.

Well I Spray On Some Water Repellant. Helps Water Bead. Water Does Get Through, But Is Broken Up Enough That If It Get To The Carb, Its Able To Burn It Out. It Also Keeps Any Big Debris From Getting In There.

What is the best thing to use to clean the underside of the canopy? To get the fuel and oil residue off of it so I can install my scoop.

YOU CLEAN THE UNDERSIDE! LOL JK. I WOULD USE 409 OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. THEN SOME ALCOHOL
