I have a nitro hammer and wanted to make a better radio box because the factory one is heavy and worthless. Here is a pic. Any help would be great.

Tupperware! I say rip out that one and keep the servo tray to epoxy into an appropriat sized "re-sealable container." Glad ware works great too.

Oh yeah... use those little hooks that you screw in and hang like X-mas lights on and screw them into the stringers and use rubber bands to hold the box down.

Well I started making a new radio box today. I am going to use plexy glass because it is light and looks cool. Any tips?????

Just make sure you seal it up tight. You may want to test it before you put it in the boat.

Hey, boatdoc can I see some pics of just your radio box. Where can I get those flexable wire and tubing? Where can I get the little metal conectors on the end of the servo arms?

the only pics i have of that radio box are on this link:

if i had a camera i'd snap a pic for you since the box isn't in the boat at the moment. it's made of 1/16 marine ply with a thin plexi-glass top. i put on a few coats of epoxy. it's a bit heavy but it gets the job done and my hammer is still pretty quick. it is TINY!!! i built it to fit in between the engine rails. as far as the flex cables, they should be available at any hobby shop. the connecters should be at your LHS also. if you can't find any, drop me a PM and i'll see if i can hook you up with a few of my spares.

i almost forgot...the rim is 1/4 square stock. that's what the lid seals to.

Hey boatdoc, can I get the demecions of your radio box. The plexy glass sucked so I am going to use wood. Thanks

it's 2 1/16 wide, 5 1/4 long, and 2 5/8 tall. it's small enough to fit between the rails, and just big enough to hold the gear. it may be possible to make the height 1/4" less. it's a very tight fit.
