Im going to buy a 40$ radio and i was wondering will this radio last me a long time? I dont want to go out and spend 150$ on a radio i just toy around with. I just want to know if the 40$ radio will be good enough for messing around in the back yard. Thanks

I don't see why not. You won't have all the high end features of an expensive radio but you don't really need one if you are just bashing.

You may want to at least get a cheap radio with digital settings. That way you won't lose trim settings on your car. Then JR XR2i AM radio is only like 100$, so you may want to save a little more for something like that. For messing around the 40$ one will be fine, its just going to be a pain adjusting those knobs every five minutes. You also can't get settings perfectly accurate with those things. Thats my two cents.

Here's a link to the JR XR2i Radio (http://www.horizonhobby.com/Shop/ByCategory/Product/Default.aspx?ProdID=JRP234275) at horizon if your interested.

You could also get the 2pl. It $70 if you are looking into a computer one.

Can you use 27mhz crystals/reciever with the 2PL?

I think the first 6 are 27 mhz and the others are 75mhz.
